If you were having issues with garbled text, the reason is because you tried to update your game without installing the v1.05 release. The v1.06 update only works on v1.05 so it breaks the game. I had to reinstall my copy from the 1.05 for it to work.
After downloading the game, I can't save at all. Even autosaves don't work. It gives me a prompt saying "can't create folder 'SystemData' path not specified" and " "can't create folder 'AutoSave' path not specified". Does anyone know the problem?
Atelier ryza 2 is direct sequel to the ryza 1 but it took the event 3 years after the 1st one. so everyone can play ryza 2 without playing the first one at ease. it's not like direct sequel that take place right after where the 1st one left off. unlike Cold Steel series in that case CSII took place where CSI left off. and CSIV took place right after CSIII left off.
I'm not what you guys think. but in my experience with this game. I say, Ryza 2 is a little bit downhill then the first one. My first expectation that I've been waiting for too long is the battle music during the first battle encounter. the battle music is somehow boring. man, I love End of Hiberation, the battle music in Ryza 1. in ryza 2 the first I really want that worth the wait is battle music. ryza 1 is satisfy while ryza 2 is kinda a little bit downhill.
Hey guys does anyone have keyboard input issues? I cant get past the press any button screen because the game won't recognize any keys. I'm using a RTX 2080 ti and a i9 10980 so it's probably unrelated to the computer specs. plus, I've got all the drivers intact, so that's not the issue either. God this is frustrating. To anyone playing Atelier Ryza 2, don't use keyboard and just use a controller because the controls for keyboard is frustrating and you'll come to the point that you can't do gem reduction! Also, to anyone having problems of the game; just buy a better graphic card, install everything in _commonredist, or find a better option.
Yeah I gotta agree. The issue with the keyboard frustration is on you. To me, the keyboard and mouse commands are even better in this game than the first. I wish I could alter all the commands in Ryza 1 to match those in Ryza 2.

nah dude its just you who is frustrating by using keyboard. They have improve the controls a lot from Atelier Ryza 1. I'm sure you can't use your keyboard properly for gem reduction
Nah, I can't do gem reduction because pressing E (default key) to start reduction doesn't work. Try it out yourself, because I've tried it a lot of times. It is good that there are now mouse controls that improves the gameplay and different key binds.
Alright, you just proved you don't know how to start reduction. The default way to start reduction is to hold numpad 3 - I've already tested this on different computers, since I own an internet cafe. So, joke on you!

My bad, I kind of noob regarding these things. I am using Windows 10 and it seems to be AMD version. I've checked and I see no problem with Directx and other things you mentioned, including Shaders 3.0 In my case, the music starts and the buttons seem to work but it is all blackscreen. The number 4 that I mentioned is actually updating the IDE / ATA/ATAPI Controllers, which didn't work. I've been experiencing the exact same thing in Roblox games (that's why I've never experienced playing it even once) and (ahem..) some eroge games.

You can't because there's no update patch files due to the sheer amount of updates there's been which is extremely huge and I mean over 20 gigs. So what you can do is grab the download from above or if you prefer torrent grab it from going to my profile page on disqus which you can do by going over my avatar. Whatever you decide you can throw away (or uninstall) version 1.00, keep your save folders tho, as version 1.02 does not contain an installer. It's ready to go once you download and extract all the necessary rar files.

you seem to confuse things. steam has this dumb rule of "you can refund games only if you have less than 2h playtime". lord of the rings shadow of mordor is one of those games where you get a decent feeling for the game in 2 hours... but reality is the game has so much more to offer that you wont find before you have 5-10 hours. i play these games until i have a good feeling of "i like it" or "i dont like it". if i dont like it, i remove it from my pc. if i like it, i remove it from my pc and buy the original on steam. i purely use this page as a playtest thing. theres one game which i didnt buy but finished. other than that i always buy the games if i like them. slay the spire for example is a game that after 10min you know if you like or dislike. i have over 400 hours in that game, but i never downloaded it from anywhere. i bought it.

Is your issue based on version 1.02? Need more detail on where exactly you're having the problem at. We're you having these issues on version 1.00? Have you tried starting a fresh "Settings.ini" file? Is it the "Press Start" menu? If using the keyboard press right-click on the mouse, use the keyboard arrow command W, S, D, A to navigate up and down. I have no clue how the game acts if using a controller. Have you consulted steam forums in case somebody else has similar issue?
How odd. Does this only happen on Ryza? No other game? When Ryza 2 is opened do you see your mouse disappear when it hovers over the game (in 1280x720 window mode) and reappears again when not on the Ryza 2 game window? 'Cuz mine does that. When interacting with the game the mouse cursor will look a little different in Ryza 2 and the mouse cursor will return to normal when out of Ryza 2 via alt+tab. When going back into Ryza 2 it may take a a click or two for the Ryza 2 mouse cursor to pop back up. Are you able to grab and interact with the black strip on top of Ryza 2 game window? And press right-click do menu's (minimize, close, etc) come up with right-click? Have you tried changing the USB ports? Mine are in USB 2.0 instead of 3.0 since it's closer to me and they're the cheap Microsoft mouses. Are you using wired connection or one of those bluetooth? Have you tried to see if you have your graphic settings altering the interaction with the game and mouse? Like some overlay? I'm on a MSI graphic card RX560 update 20.11.1 with default settings. If you're using NVidia I'd have no clue there. Maybe see if either creating a new profile for Ryza will work or reset the entire thing to its default.
Yeah, it seems so strange to me. My mouse disappears when i"m in that 1280x720 window as well as when I make it full screen through the system.ini file. Clicked and keyboard dont do anything until I ALT+TAB out. I'm able to right click it, but that's about it I've tried both 2.0 and 3.0 USB ports, no dice. I check through the AMD software and had ingame overlay turned on and off. Returned everything to default. Tried turning off the steam overlay, forcing the controller on andf off, nothing
Are you on a laptop or Desktop? What type of mouse are you using? Likewise with your keyboard? Have you tried a different mouse and keyboard? Does this only happen on Ryza 2? Were you able to play on version 1.00? Are you using AMD Adrenaline software? If so, what version? Are you running the game with Steam? You don't have to in case you are. Did you change any of the steam_emu.ini file located in the Ryza 2 game folder? Can you check if that file says "Overlays=1" if not change it to it and here's the default settings to it, https://pastebin.com/TbVe45Pv to copy and paste. Have you tried to interact using the keyboard in the Ryza 2 game window? Like have the mouse disappear again in the game down, press right-click then press ESC and any other functional keyboard command? I just found this out you could check out. Create a new profile on your windows, move the Ryza 2 folder to the public folders, log off your profile and go to that new one, grab the Ryza 2 folder to your new profile and see if it's possible to run it from there. If by chance it does run there, you may have to delete your main profile and create a new one of the same name if you want to keep that profile name and other stuff that's related to that profile such as web activity and so forth only after moving all your files temporarily to the public folder and saving the configurations in AppData folder from your main profile. For me this usually resolves lots of things including folders resetting tho I never had a issue with games not working right on my profile. Other then resetting your AMD graphic to Factory Settings not sure why you got your issue. Last desperate act would be to uninstall mouse and keyboard in "device manager" under Run. They should reinstall when Windows reboots and reinserting the mouse and kb.
Still no response from keyboard even after new install. DLCs didnt seem to be the issue. Overlay = 1, Changed the resolution from system.ini and graphics settings. Still nothing :/
I wrote a long post thinking of things you can do to resolve your issues but I only see just a few things that were done. Did you do everything else I wrote? Even create a new profile/account on your PC? Have you tried using a different keyboard and mouse? I saw a thread over at steam about a specific keyboard the game could not recognize. Maybe this might be the culprit. I dunno what else I can think of to help you. Just to confirm. You are not running the game in a steam client application, correct? It doesn't need it.
I appreciate you helping me, but I've tried making a new profile, went out and bought a cheap keyboard and that didn't work, I'm not running it through the client, just the application from the folder i downloaded

Did it work for Ryza 2 version 1.00? Just to be sure, what version of AMD Adrenaline are you using? If it's version 19.12.2 update. The k lite codec pack will install different video codecs that some games use for video playback during game play. It even comes with a movie player. I'm just gonna say this one as I am running out of ideas. Is the folder containing the game in ascii characters only? Is the folder to the game elsewhere besides the program folder? Both 64 bit and x86 folders I mean. A new update to the game has been released if you want to try that. Go to my profile page and go to the url. I verified it works at my end too. Have you considered creating a thread over at AMD's official forums about this issue? Just don't let em know about you know... it being a share and all. Maybe it's the graphic card having some issue with Ryza 2. Maybe if you can find somebody else who also has that card and the game might be able to figure out why this is happening.
Yeah, looks like igg may of got it off from the anon share. You don't need the previous version anymore. Version 1.02 includes all updates presently available.
If you're fed up with waiting for the updates click on my avatar and go to my disqus page, locate the url address on the left side and get the latest version. My guess on the lack of update is either the guys at igg don't got the game itself and waiting on somebody else to share it. Whatever the case, the updates on this game have been getting ridiculous. Two updates, one about 6 gigs and the newest one is 18 gig update....... that's almost the entire game size.
Are you asking because you're limited on file space or download speed? It depends which one you're downloading. If it's the torrent you can either read the description or go here https://steamdb.info/patchnotes/6262685/ and see what files you would need to update but according to the description of the torrent, the update is a ridiculous 18.9 gigs. If you're getting the archive download you would have to download all 3 parts which would total around 13 gigs and extract just the files you'd need 1 by 1 (if space is your issue) and if you somehow mess up you have the whole game on you. Which ever choice you decide don't forget to get the crack files too. The files there are legitimately and safe.

Ok I think I'm understanding what you're saying. You don't have to reinstall the game at all. The game is already ready to boot once the download is completed. All you gotta do is place the crack files to the game if you follow the directions on that alternate torrent site and do the same thing you did when you got the files from this site. You can get rid of the Ryza 2 files you got from this site just don't get rid of your saved game. My guess on why this site hasn't updated might be because they don't got the game themselves and need somebody else to provide it and then crack it if its needed. So somebody else has done that job, so I suggest to get it from that site I mentioned in my OP instead. CODEX and igg haven't even updated Ryza 1's version 1.07 and it's been months since it's been released so I'm afraid it may happen to Ryza 2 as well and I hope people will spot the comment I wrote so they don't miss out.

On Ryza 1 they kept the updates coming when Koei released them except the last one (version 1.07). Many other games been released but this ones lackin. I don't really get the process since if they got the game for this one even if it was donated whomever shared it with the group could easily update the game or grab just the update, share it again and crack it and release it but nada still. Many games been released since then. We should probably bother them with request again despite a reply from the admin so we can get the damn update.
We gotta fill out the daily requests then otherwise we may miss out on the updates entirely. May have to... gulp buy the game... especially with Koei's rip off price, orz. Hope you guys can also help request Ryza 1's version 1.07 update as well.
Doesn't recognize keyboard or mouse, I was stuck on the "press any key". After reinstalling it simply crashes now. Gust cant port a single game without huge bugs can it? I hope the patch will help.
If you have a gamepad connected the game may in some cases block keyboard/mouse control until you disconnect the pad. It seems to depend on the exact hardware.
The problem is on your end not the game. It runs just fine with my keyboard and mouse. The game does has an auto save bug present that is rectified by turning it off in the menu. Delete the folder KoeiTecmo from the document folder and retry again once you can figure out why your keyboard and mouse are not working right with the game.
Anyone getting stupid high sensitivity in item menus, or is it just me? I can navigate the world normally, all programs and calibration tests show normal, but suddenly my analog stick is zooming through item menus at like, 20-50x speed.
Yup I am also. I had to add the game to steam library, go into big picture mode, change controller settings to make an "inner deadzone" in the left thumbstick. If you use the thumbstick in the menus it still happens but it stops it from jumping around if you use the D-pad
Only thing what I get in the game is that the circle and ryza walks automatically to the right. Looks like some drifting going on, when it doesn't happen with other games :)
inner deadzone should also solve this. This game doesn't seem to have any deadzone by default so any movement of the stick whatsoever will trigger it to activate.
Apparently there was a patch to the game that caused it for people playing it on Steam, too. No settings for deadzones in the game, and my controller works perfectly fine, including deadzone, otherwise. It also only just recently happened.
It's because of how they pack the game files into larger encrypted files, so when they change one they have to make you download all of it all over again. It's all so tiresome, and never should have been accepted.
Even with fast enough internet, it's stupid, because it necessitates such stupidly large downloads for file changes that are really just a few bytes too kilobytes worth of changes in code, really.
This game has some quirks. Like a crazy oversaturation when the sun is setting for example. This might be a bug though. There is a 8 gb patch that came out today, but I'm curious if CDX wants to do their magic with it.
Only issue I got is that the bandits shop isn't where it should be, I made them 3* and I had the event happening with the guy, but he's not there. But I can live without :P
You need to apply the crack, there should be a folder called CODEX when you extract the rar, put the files in CODEX in the games directory, and replace whatever is in there. Or when you're installing the game, check the box that says 'apply contents of CODEX' and that should fix it.

If you have stuttering issues, then your hardware is not sufficient to run the game stably at the settings you have it at. Turn shadows and the ranges of view down.
No this is a game bug. I blow this game away with ease and I don't even have a beast of a pc, but there's still some stuttering or fps drops at random.
I have a computer built in 2008 (seriously, I'm running an i7-920k) and I can run it at 1080p without any issue just turning the shadows and range of view down to normal. The game is not that taxing at all.

Unless I'm missing something, this game doesn't appear to have any graphics options. The Atelier games usually have a launcher that you can change a few options on, but this one doesn't seem to. Can't even change resolution. EDIT: Turns out it does have settings. They're in the other OTHER options menu >.>
when you can control Ryza, hit esc then you will find graphic tab. Note that someone said you get max resolution 1366x720 but can fix with saving and restarting the game then change the resolution again to get higher one.

Just found out by myself. open steam_emu.ini under game floder (e.g. D:\Games\Atelier Ryza 2 Lost Legends and the Secret Fairy) and edit "Language=english" to "Language=japanese" By the way if you want to change to chinese edit to "Language=tchinese" instead.

True. Honestly tho I cant seem wonder what some ppl expected this game to be... I mean did those ppl ever play the previous Atelier games to come up how boring Ryza 2 is? If alchemy crafting isn't your thing then ppl should probably blacklist Atelier games from their games of interests.This series got a sequel b/c the 1st game was "heavily" liked and sold well thanks to her thickness-fanart/gameplay, so its a no brainer why ppl play this.
TBF the mechanics for crafting have actually gotten less complex, until you complete the second ruin and unlock the ability to do essence crafting. Currently sitting on like 20K points I can't spend because of it. Also, once you get them up high enough, you have to spend 500 cole on every quest, meaning that they become much less profitable and you need a bare minimum to be able to get them in the first place. Makes it a lot harder to get cash early on.
Its setup like that b/c money farming probably isn't that important early on. I mean usually you get rare craft materials post/endgame so its best to fully optimize craft abilities when have most of them unlocked. But if you need money that badly early just use a trainer or cheat engine.
Arguably it's way more important early on, because that's when you need to buy ingredients instead of being able to simply harvest them. You quickly outstrip the quality of things you can buy. It's also just generally a bad mechanic, forcing you to have money to accept quests that barely pay out more than the cost of the fee.
I find it really sad that, for whatever reason, those "Classic JRPG"-type games are seemingly one of the most popular game genres coming from Japan. So many potentially great stories and worlds... ruined by an incredibly dull and barely-ever innovative in any significant ways game genre... And then like another third of their 'popular' games are either terrible console ports or console-exclusives altogether.. Just sucks it had to be that way, man.
Played it, but it still fuses the formulas of (among others) 2 types of games which ultimately always end up boring me and having me drop them - MMOs and Gacha games. So naturally I just kinda stopped playing it once I reached the at-the-time story end-game.

Ryza is (said to be) 20 in this one, hardly underage. I can kinda see where Sony is coming from, it's difficult to play these games around people who have their morals mostly intact. That's not reason enough to force censorship, but it's not like it was forced on them. Koei had the choice of sikpping a PlayStation release if they felt pantyshots were a fundamental part of the game. They didn't care enough to go full Switch/PC.

Okay, I can see that, but I don't think you can say that western games in general make females ugly. Since anime art is completely different it's like comparing apples with oranges. It's very close to saying that real life females are uglier than anime girls. Kinda hard to have a comparison when they don't represent the same thing.
Ugly or beautiful it's kinda subjective and a lot of it is ingrained by our consciousness by the current culture. But say that's true and a large percentage of the real girls are subjectively ugly. It's not nearly black and white. If there is a girl you like, most likely she will smell really good to you. And we are not even talking about perfume, just her natural smell. Do you got the usual? DirectX installed, latests net frameworks, visual studio c+, video codecs such as k-lite codec pack? Far shot but I'll still ask to see if your graphic card's got Shaders 3.0.
Other things to try: move folder elsewhere not on main drive such as C: , ascii only characters on the folders.

Does it play music or nothing? Does it give an error? Widescreen or not? 2 monitor setup? See what I mean that number 4 doesn't help? Also see my profile over at disqus and look towards your left for the url and see if updating to the newer version helps you.
In my case, the music starts and the buttons seem to work but it is all blackscreen. The number 4 that I mentioned is actually updating the IDE / ATA/ATAPI Controllers, which didn't work.

Is it the "Press Start" menu? If using the keyboard press right-click on the mouse, use the keyboard arrow command W, S, D, A to navigate up and down. I have no clue how the game acts if using a controller.
Have you consulted steam forums in case somebody else has similar issue?
When Ryza 2 is opened do you see your mouse disappear when it hovers over the game (in 1280x720 window mode) and reappears again when not on the Ryza 2 game window? 'Cuz mine does that. When interacting with the game the mouse cursor will look a little different in Ryza 2 and the mouse cursor will return to normal when out of Ryza 2 via alt+tab. When going back into Ryza 2 it may take a a click or two for the Ryza 2 mouse cursor to pop back up.
Are you able to grab and interact with the black strip on top of Ryza 2 game window? And press right-click do menu's (minimize, close, etc) come up with right-click?
Have you tried changing the USB ports? Mine are in USB 2.0 instead of 3.0 since it's closer to me and they're the cheap Microsoft mouses. Are you using wired connection or one of those bluetooth?
Have you tried to see if you have your graphic settings altering the interaction with the game and mouse? Like some overlay? I'm on a MSI graphic card RX560 update 20.11.1 with default settings. If you're using NVidia I'd have no clue there. Maybe see if either creating a new profile for Ryza will work or reset the entire thing to its default.

Are you running the game with Steam? You don't have to in case you are. Did you change any of the steam_emu.ini file located in the Ryza 2 game folder? Have you tried to interact using the keyboard in the Ryza 2 game window? Like have the mouse disappear again in the game down, press right-click then press ESC and any other functional keyboard command?
I just found this out you could check out. Go into the steam_emu.ini file as before and delete the lines that are not listed below, as they are DLC's from future releases that don't exist yet.

The other things I can come up with is make certain the graphic settings on AMD is only for use on your profile and not on all or global. Create a new profile on your windows, move the Ryza 2 folder to the public folders, log off your profile and go to that new one, grab the Ryza 2 folder to your new profile and see if it's possible to run it from there.
If by chance it does run there, you may have to delete your main profile and create a new one of the same name if you want to keep that profile name and other stuff that's related to that profile such as web activity and so forth only after moving all your files temporarily to the public folder and saving the configurations in AppData folder from your main profile. For me this usually resolves lots of things including folders resetting tho I never had a issue with games not working right on my profile.
Other then resetting your AMD graphic to Factory Settings not sure why you got your issue. Last desperate act would be to uninstall mouse and keyboard in "device manager" under Run. They should reinstall when Windows reboots and reinserting the mouse and kb.
Have you tried using a different keyboard and mouse? I saw a thread over at steam about a specific keyboard the game could not recognize. Maybe this might be the culprit. I dunno what else I can think of to help you.
Just to confirm. You are not running the game in a steam client application, correct? It doesn't need it.
What graphic card are you using from AMD? The only times I've been unable to interact with the game has been due to not having the required graphics such as my old pc having an outdated integrated intel graphics, it also lacked shaders 3.0. Can you see if your graphic card has shaders 3.0?

I was gonna write that you might have to reinstall windows but I don't think the issue is that severe where you need to do that. It has to do with your graphic card, mouse and keyboard, or something else that your pc is lacking.

Ryza 1 works perfect, I just can't get passed title screen on Ryza 2
The k lite codec pack will install different video codecs that some games use for video playback during game play. It even comes with a movie player.
I'm just gonna say this one as I am running out of ideas. Is the folder containing the game in ascii characters only? Is the folder to the game elsewhere besides the program folder? Both 64 bit and x86 folders I mean.
A new update to the game has been released if you want to try that. Go to my profile page and go to the url. I verified it works at my end too.
Have you considered creating a thread over at AMD's official forums about this issue? Just don't let em know about you know... it being a share and all. Maybe it's the graphic card having some issue with Ryza 2. Maybe if you can find somebody else who also has that card and the game might be able to figure out why this is happening.
My guess on the lack of update is either the guys at igg don't got the game itself and waiting on somebody else to share it. Whatever the case, the updates on this game have been getting ridiculous. Two updates, one about 6 gigs and the newest one is 18 gig update....... that's almost the entire game size.
It depends which one you're downloading. If it's the torrent you can either read the description or go here https://steamdb.info/patchnotes/6262685/ and see what files you would need to update but according to the description of the torrent, the update is a ridiculous 18.9 gigs.
If you're getting the archive download you would have to download all 3 parts which would total around 13 gigs and extract just the files you'd need 1 by 1 (if space is your issue) and if you somehow mess up you have the whole game on you.
Which ever choice you decide don't forget to get the crack files too. The files there are legitimately and safe.

My guess on why this site hasn't updated might be because they don't got the game themselves and need somebody else to provide it and then crack it if its needed.

CODEX and igg haven't even updated Ryza 1's version 1.07 and it's been months since it's been released so I'm afraid it may happen to Ryza 2 as well and I hope people will spot the comment I wrote so they don't miss out.

I don't really get the process since if they got the game for this one even if it was donated whomever shared it with the group could easily update the game or grab just the update, share it again and crack it and release it but nada still. Many games been released since then.
We should probably bother them with request again despite a reply from the admin so we can get the damn update.
After reinstalling it simply crashes now. Gust cant port a single game without huge bugs can it?

Found it! disconnected my gamepad and reopen the game, it worked.
EDIT: Turns out it does have settings. They're in the other OTHER options menu >.>
Note that someone said you get max resolution 1366x720 but can fix with saving and restarting the game then change the resolution again to get higher one.
Works best at 720p standard graphics. But can still be playable at 1080p.

games from their games of interests.This series got a sequel b/c the 1st game was "heavily" liked and sold well thanks to her thickness-fanart/gameplay, so its a no brainer why ppl play this.
