Wow... on-rail shooter is an instant "nope" for me, with Everspace 2 at least you can fly around at your own will, even if its content is very disappointing.

Great graphics and music too. Not for me, though.
Attention : it's an arcade RAIL shooter. A bit like the first Starfox on Super Nintendo, then.
If you want freedom to move around, try instead https://igg-games.com/everspace-encounters-free-497716306-download.html (https://igg-games.com/everspace-2-free-download.html is still too buggy.)

My problem with Everspace 2, is that it's early access and wont ever be completed.. And if it is, it's because people kept buying it years and years in to its EA state.. Enough people to keep the devs working on it, anyway. Otherwise they just drop it.. Fuck the early adopters.
It was an alright game, except for the lack of content.. I blazed through everything it had to offer in no time, and all the random signals you catch in space are boring.. There are only like 3 or 4 variations of what you can find, all on thje same asteroid field maps.

most popular detailed review on steam right now:
Redout: Space Assault, the prequel of the original Redout that came out in 2016. Though, unlike being the AG Racer, this one is a Space Sim/Arcade on rail shooter. The game itself is pretty simple with only having 4 stats for you to upgrade, which is Hull, Shields, Weapons, and Missiles. Although the stats are very simple, combat is even more simple as you only need be behind something to be shooting at it and launching missiles just locks onto the nearest target to the player. Though, through it's simple gameplay, it's pretty fun in my opinion and inherits some of the breakneck speed from the original game in some missions involving either pursuing or retreating. And the music is really good, just like the previous Redout in which I adore with the soundtrack taking a special place in my head as an extremely good soundtrack.
My biggest gripes with the game though is through it's balance of difficulty between enemies and the voice acting. Most levels in the game are manageable until you get to the cargo smuggler missions in which you never receive any instruction on how to fight it even though it is a special enemy and can't be fought through simple combat mechanics. Second gripe with these smugglers as that the devs cranked the damage through the roof with the smugglers as regular enemies took a bit to get through the shields, meanwhile the slightest touch from a cargo smuggler instantly downs your shields and evaporates half your health.
Now the voice acting in this game has some of the most corny and generic voice acting I have ever experienced, especially with the protagonist, whose character isn't very well defined as he initially seems to be a by-the-books protagonist but becomes a loose canon when the plot demands it. In the game, every character stuck to a theme, like the scientist whose research you have to retrieve from smugglers having a generic German accent, much like every, single other generic scientist character from media. I felt like the devs should've just stuck with no voice acting like they have with the original Redout.
TL;DR: Gameplay is simplistic but enjoyable and music is very good. Though, voice acting is remarkably generic and difficulty between enemies is inconsistent. Overall, I'd say the price is agreeable for the game. I really wish there was a neutral option for reviews

Everspace allows you to move freely in every sector and chose your own path and method of attack. It has crafting and resource gathering and a vastly superior upgrade system. This game only looks like Everspace, otherwise it isn't even 1/10th of the game Everspace is. But hey, it's free to download, so if you have time to spare, check it out anyway. Or, if you don't mind early access, check out Everspace 2 instead, which is actually even better than the original, at least IMO.

This game is 12gb... for an arcade it's kinda big but yeah the graphics and models are really detailed. but still original TES V: Skyrim was also 12gb albeit with low graphics but still it had a world you can roam.

This is a good Arcade , Action , Space , Sci-fi , 3D , Shooter game You can play it with a very simple and good control and mobility . The graphics and visual effect are nice and the music is great . Its a nice shooter game to spend some time , but keep in Your mind that this game has an arcade style for its gameplay , Its not complex and enjoyable like another shooter games like ( Ace combat ) series for example . Its very simple .
