I had the exact same issue. I found no way to fix it other than downloading either the normal darksiders 2 release or if you want deathinitive version, download the codex release from a different site. Codex's deathinitive release works perfectly.
There's a newer version that was released on GOG almost a year after the game was launched. It supposedly took care of most of the crashing issues as well as issues with the UI when using a controller. I've requested the update, but nothing yet it seems.
I'm hoping this has been updated and isn't broken now, I'll be sure to come back and state my experience after some playtime. Update: It runs okay so far, no lag or crashes after finding out maxing out the shadows option causes crashing on save loading. One notch under max does fine though.
From what I've read, this version of the game is very buggy so it isn't worth playing, I honestly don't know how true this is because I've only played past the tutorial section basically and the only problem I found was some slight lag (I expected worse considering I'm playing on a laptop), but considering the amount of people saying they're having problems I'd say it's safe to assume they're right, and that would be fine and dandy if the original Darksiders 2 was up, but all the links are dead (checked each one myself even) and the game isn't on steam anymore (the regular version) so there isn't a way to request it anymore, unless IGG go way out of their way to get it, which I don't see happening, but I'm sure we'd all be grateful if they did.
Has this been updated in the last two months? I do not recall it having GOG attached to the name before. Can anyone let me know if it has been updated?
While I would liked to have recommended this, this version is outdated and full of bugs and crashes that would drive the player insane pretty quickly. Until its updated, suggestion is to just play the normal Darksiders 2. you wont be missing out on anything
ATTENTION: I do not recommend to download this, if you want to play it download the normal Darksiders 2 not the Deathinitive Edition. Why? Because the DE is full of buggs and you probably end up not enjoy the game at all as i did. -But i want to play the new content! Believe me its not a big deal just stick to the normal version there are dlc´s too. Deathinitive Edition is just better graphics but tons of Bugs which the Devs totally ignore and work on the 3rd game rn.
I have 15 hours of playing on the game and after i go to talk to an angel, the game shut downs and I can't do anyting about that. Please help if someone knows the problem :(
I found the soluce, don't touch shadows config (2/5) or the game crash and crash ... so for return in the graphics options : In order to reset the changes you need to browse to C:\Users\AppData\Local\Darksiders2 and delete the option.dopt file (which will reset the graphics settings). Voilà :) and sorry for my bad english
I opened game succesfully for the first time and did some changes in game video options and tried to restart the game but it keep crashed to desktop is there an update or patch ? How can i fix this ???
1080p resolution, AA, Vsync, shadows, etc options. Reworked loot drops so rarer stuff is easier to get. New optional dungeon. All DLC is included, I believe. Right now it's really bad. It crashes, it stutters, etc. Wait for another update.
