Okay so for those who are having problems with screwed up audio or the game literally screwing itself up (cutscenes are stuck etc.) just download the enhanced edition and install that. And as for the download - make sure to not download any .exe files as they can screw your pc. Make sure to download the correct thing
The MegaUp ACTUALLY doesn't work. Every time I click the "Download Link" button it redirects to a sham website that redirects to the Google Extensions store.
Jesus Christ never mind, it finally worked after about twenty clicks. Really consider keeping up at least ONE reputable host site instead of waiting for all the others to fail.
To anyone that has troubles with this masterpiece of a game, this is a almost 20 years old game, don't expect to work flawlessly on modern PCs so go and search Silent Hill 2 Enhanced Edition to get this game work properly on modern PCs and also enjoy the best quality posible thanks to that project.
Is the file size less than 5 MB? Did you get the file directly, or have you used an exe? If the answer to any of the questions is yes, you downloaded an ad. Please try downloading the files again and make sure you get the correct ones.
I don't decide what gets re-uploaded or not, all I do is inform people of the admin's policy on this matter, and the admin had made it clear that he won't re-upload any game unless all of its links go down. This is how he's always done it.
I concur with @soaring unless they were talking about the download links not working- there's no autorun.exe or whatever; the only .exe file is sh2pc.exe and it will open but it freezes my laptop and I have to restart my laptop... tried twice, same results :( I don't have a computer from 1995 and I can play most up to date games if I wanted to, strange why this ain't working!

That's not IGG's fault, that's the game itself. It's the main reason I want them to upload the original so I can patch it, because the director's cut was pretty sloppy.

*remember to patch. game has alot of glitches when running 64bit. i still had glitches though i patched.
