For those interested, apparently the game is 4:3 only, not 16:9. No widescreen mode available (well, except a fake one which stretches the image). It's strange because this game isn't that old.
I tried numerous methods and the only one that I've gotten to work is changing your system language. Even then, the localization folder has some languages overwritten as English. So, there's no Swedish, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese, or Chinese. Even if you change your system language, those will show up as English in the game.
