I have to agree on the stiff part. I mean, the party you get all feel like stereotypical cliches. The librarian felt like they were trying too hard to create a "intense" bookworm. And that's just up to the point where you get your party. It felt too stiff. Not just that, but combat felt awkward in regards to how it handled turn order.
Nope, I haven't tried it, I try & give detailed review, but I am way behind pages. But, trailer is interesting, reminded me of Dungeon Siege series I played a lot in childhood.

I would prefer Final Fantasy Tactics (any version).
Fire Emblem games are cool too, but more simple imho.
