For those who are having problems with steam or missing dll when launching the launcher. Place your extracted files in a short path such as c:\l4d2 and launch the launcher, that should fix the problem.
Here's the solution when your Game not start or crash: 1.Download and open SSE (SmartSteamEmu Launcher) 2.Add Game -> left4dead2.exe 3.Right Click -> Properties -> Game App ID -> 555 4.Enable "Inject SmartSteamEmu" in the Left Box 5.Save it. 6.Run the Game from SmartSteamEmu Launcher

I wanted to play online, but I can't. It was saying that the host version was incompatible because this left 4 dead 2 last stand file is a 2.2.0.0 version and the server I was trying to join in needed 2.2.0.9. Is there anyway to the update the game without anything that involves steam? Like, maybe a separate file that can update the current version of the game to 2.2.0.9 or latest? I know I maybe impatient and greedy, but I just really need the 2.2.0.9 update patch.
Has anyone been able to make the addons work? Maps work fine but skins like # do not. I downloaded a few skins and placed them in the addons folder at Left.4.Dead.2.The.Last.Stand\left4dead2/addons like usual but they won't load.
my addons works well, i dont know the main reason but i suspect it's about the previous verion of l4d2 that i had on my pc, i installed that version with a standalone patch until the last verion, then i donwloaded this version and i had two l4d2 games at the same time , then i unistalled that game and now im playing this version whithout any problem. i dont know if this comment will help u, i just comment it.

Depends on your preference. If you want to play solo then resident evil because you can complete the game without having any teammates but if u like cooperative games then its left 4 dead because as u know. There's some zombies that u need help with once u get hit by their skills...so yeah dude...up to ya

its a valve game, the community will be always toxic as fuck like dota 2, csgo and tf2 this is why i dont even bother to reinstall those games again i am only enjoying the free weekend to remember the good old times
It's very different. Are you talking about the remasters of Resident Evil 1 and 2? (and maybe 3 as well?) Resident Evil is more atmospheric in general, it's much slower-paced, and it's third-view person. Personally, although I love the first Resident Evil (I played it back then in 1998 on Saturn), I choose Left 4 Dead without hesitation, I find it much more fun. Also, there are countless great maps to download.

What do you mean "Workshop mods"?... Mods are mods -- I download and install them manually from GameMaps. Are you implying that this updated L4D2 no longer works with all / most existing mods...?

difference of opinion, but i play this game all the time offline with bots and using custom maps. great fun. online is where the problems are, too many trolls and team killers, stupid people on chat talking smack, the online community is toxic.
Yeah, it's one of the best, if not the best in this particular category. It's also one of the few games where I have fun with bots. And I agree with you with the toxic people online.

Online mode is fun "sometimes" depending on who you hook up with it, i had some fun times in the past. But that was the past and unless you have real life friends or add friends to your account to play it all the time, the overall online community is toxic. And no i don't quit because some noob in chat calls me a fart eater lol. Lately there has been alot of team killers and even though its funny at times lol like wtf is this guy doing?, but when they keep doing it, i have no choice but to quit. So to end this, both modes are fun, i just like playing offline with bots and going to game maps and browse and download and play all the maps. And i only played maybe 5% of those maps so i have lots to play!
