IKR! And in 1985, Super Mario Bros copied from Sonic, even if it came out in 1991.

Empyrion is almost exactly one year older than No man sky :D

Empyrion is way better than NMS. But 7 days to die is still the best building survival game, because the enemies actually attack at times and it gives you a reason to play. Ya know, something to survive other than hunger/sickness/freezing. That other game that just popped up on IGG is cool in that regard too.. Gearstorm. But it's super unpolished... At least it has quests though.

I don't think it's fair to compare both games... NMS is about exploration, Empyrion is about building, you can argue that Empyrion also have exploration elements, but it's not the primary focus of the game, the same goes for NMS that also have base building elements...

Yeah, many games like this take ages to be finished, like Project Zomboid... But they're still enjoyable. Last time I tried 7 Days to Die, even if you told me it was completed and wouldn't get any further updates, I would have been satisfied.

100% agree.
I mean, the whole development feels kinda aimless and it seems like, the devs have no clue how to finish the game while just changing/adding stuff.
But yet, the game is highly enjoayable.
Like Minecraft back in the day, before the Dragon.
You could sink hours into this game... you don't need a set goal, since you have your own goals.
In fact, I've never beaten the Dragon and have no desire to try it, since the whole rest of the game is far more enjoayable (to me).
So yeah, I'm happy to just mess around in 7DtD.

Ha ha same! I have never beaten the dragon! 😄
One of the few games which does get better in every new update is Streets of Rogue (one of my favorites, but 6 years in the development), but it was also already very enjoyable years ago. 😄
The developer said he's finally working on a sequel, though, so he understood that at this point, there's not much he can do to improve his game.

Project Z is probably one of the worst. 7 years after they're at build 0.48 or somesuch.
Dwarf Fortress all over again. Dedication takes time I guess.

Which reminds me now of "Grimoire - Heralds of the Winged Exemplar". ha ha How many years it took again? I think it was around 20... 😄
But the result is not bad at all for turn-based RPG nostalgic fans like me, at least.

I heard the whole story when it came out not-so-long ago. Never had the guts to try it. It seems like an unwieldy and crazy deep game to say the least. Like riding a five legged stallion to the bottom of the grand canyon..

My guess is that the number doesn't indicate how far a game is.
They just choose a low number and add to it with every update.
So I think, a jump from 0.60 to 1.00 is possible, but they may also fill every single number between it.
I mean, look at "Streets of Rogue", they also made it kinda clever.
They only have a version number, and since the game is outta the alpha phase, they simply don't add "alpha" to the number.
Yet, it's still "Version 88" (or so) and they avoided to have a 0.88, even if the game is finished and they still add stuff.

Makes no sense whatsoever. You must be using it wrong. Probably a millennial or something.
