This game knows if it has been pirated. It will increase the difficulty, making it nearly impossible to get passed the 2nd stage. It will also stop playing the BGM, and, instead, start repeating an annoying chant that calls you out for pirating. Even if you do manage to get through the stages at it's insanely increased difficulty, it will not let you progress more than halfway through the game before it kicks you out to the main menu, where it may pop up a nag to ask you to buy the game.

What you experienced is very interesting and unseen before, I mean the crazy response inside the gameplay itself. This usually happens because you failed to block the game from calling back home (that means the cracked app reports back to the developer's site). Search google for how to block an app using the firewall, it is recommended that you do this for all cracked apps you have on system. Occasionally apps will register the IP and then ask the ISP to reveal the identity of the infringer for further prosecution.

The thing is, the legit copy will do this, too, unless you use steam to launch it.
