You must use third party program. DS4 or 3 is not fully supported by windows for some games, but Xbox does. I'm using SCPToolkit to make my DS4 or 3 to being read as Xbox controller and works without cable, but you must monitor the service to work flawlessly.

i have fixed the problem by copying Xaudio2_8.dll from C:/Windows/System32 to your SoS FoMT installation path. then rename Xaudio2_8.dll to Xaudio2_9.dll. Attention : Don't copy Xaudio2_9.dll directly to your SoS FoMT Installation path ,just copy Xaudio2_8.dll ,then rename it.
I see the problem ,You only have 4 KB XAudio file,but mine has 313 KB. IF SOMEONE HAS Clash.......dmp error .i have fixed by uncheck compatibility mode.
just try it, do it right. 100% fix the error . Copy Xaudio2_8.dll (C:/Windows/System32) to your SoS FoMT installation path, then rename it to Xaudio2_9.dll. trust me, its work.

i think i encountered a bug, not a major one but certainly annoying if you didn't see it coming. it's when i put some items in the shipping bin past 5 PM, obviously i won't get any money for being too late. but the next day, all those items are also gone. in the previous titles, if you're too late to ship your produce, it will stay in the bin for the next day so the shipper can still take it tomorrow and pay us. but in this case, no money, items also gone. lol
¿What's the resolution of your monitor? I managed to make it work by connecting my PC to an 1920x1080 HDMI monitor and the game (also the launcher) finally opened, the minimal resolution of the game is 1280x720

My Monitor resolution is 1024x768 and the game doesn't open, when I tried with the 1080 monitor, the game launched fine, so maybe 768 resolutions aren't supported
¿Have you tried to open the SOSFoMLauncher.exe first with the resolution of 1280x720 on your monitor? I got a laptop (borrowed from another person) with the exact same resolution as yours and change it to 1280x720 and the Launcher opened, then I just change the resolution of the game to Windowed and 1280x720 and turn on the Compatibility mode
Seems that I didn't read your reply properly, I don't really know what to tell you at this point, ¿Are you playing on a Laptop or a Desktop PC? If it's PC, ¿Is your monitor VGA or HDMI? Could it that the game doesn't support VGA Monitors instead of Resolutions, but I'm not sure
If it's a laptop, I'm lost then, on the game's folder there should another one called "_CommonRedist" with installers for DirectX, Dot Net and Vcredist, try to install everything and see if that resolves the problem. If there is no CommonRedist folder, you should need to install the game version posted here on IGG and not the one on the comments (the indonesian video), then overwrite the old files with the newer ones (the ones that have the STORY OF SEASONS Friends of Mineral Town_Compatibility.exe), copy and paste the newer crack (again downloading it from the indonesian video) and then install everything on the CommonRedist folder.

This version of the game will not start if your CPU does not support the AVX instruction set. This means Intel cpus 2xxx and after will work and most AMD cpus made after 2012 will work. There is a version with a compatibility mode but we will have to wait for the crack.

The devs released a new version of the game with compatibility settings for those who can't run the game and there's no error, seems like the game not launching it's because some processors don't have AVX support. We just need to wait for the updated version I guess.
Perhaps the crack is faulty and disables the save file feature, that happened to me with Tales of Zestiria until they released a fixed crack. Sadly I don't know what to tell you in this case, I'm also one of those users who can't even launch the game.
Trust me, the crack is not faulty. It just some older CPU lacks the support for AVX instruction set. The crack works on my Intel laptop and the Steam version I bought and install has the exact same issue on not able to launch the game at all.
I think I almost got it working using Intel SDE, but it indeed crashed again. Strangely, it now created a "clash" dump file. Not sure it this file was created by SOSFoMT or SDE, but it appeared at the game folder after the crash.

Story of Season is the "Real" Harvest Moon series and every games released with the title Harvest Moon past the Natsume/Marvelous split is a completely different series and since Natsume has the right to Harvest Moon they are just using the name "Harvest Moon" and start to make there own series.

They changed the name. XSeed split from Natsume. Natsume owns the "Harvest Moon" title, while XSeed uses the new name "Story of Seasons" but owns the original HM characters, I think.
I keep getting the alert "game has stopped working", i did everything like turn off all anti virus, block game exe in wdws firewall, run the game exe as admin, check the checkbox in the installing part. I have windows 10 and have a decent gpu and cpu. nothing here helps me. if someone also encounters the "game has stopped working" shit, do you know how to fix it? or any luck about the other crackers that cracking this game. this cracked game by plaza doenst work to me
its been confirmed in the steam disccusions that windows 7 doesnt work with this game so better upgrade the OS go for 8.1 or just stick with stardew valley
i alrd replaced the PLAZA files into the root game directory, Steam doesn't pop-up anymore but when I click Save & Launch, nothing happens. Can someone help?
Here's a compiled list of common issues and how to solve it
When I launch the game, it shows the Steam pop-up. When installing the game with the installer, there's an option called "Copy contents of PLAZA directory to installdir". Make sure you check it before you install. If you didn't, just close the Steam pop-up, mount the ISO, copy the contents of PLAZA folder and paste it inside the root game directory (same folder with STORY OF SEASONS Friends of Mineral Town.exe).
When I launch the game, I got an error pop-up regarding "msvcp140.dll" and "vcruntime140.dll". Install the Visual C++ Redistributable framework (both 32-bit and 64-bit) under _CommonRedist\vcredist in your root game directory. Simply double click on "vc_redist.x86/x64.exe" should be fine (You might get Install failed because "Another version of this product is already installed", in that case just uninstall the 2017 version from your system in control panel.)
When I launch the game, I got an error pop-up regarding missing "XAudio2_9.dll". Navigate to C:\Windows\System32, copy a dll file called "XAudio2_8.dll" and paste it back in System32 folder. Rename it as "XAudio2_9.dll"

It works by emulating the game using different CPU architecture, however the performance is terrible (especially if your CPU is already older to begin with). If you are interested, look in my reply on how to emulate it. Update 2: SOS:FoMT dev released a https://store.steampowered.com/newshub/app/978780?emclan=103582791467558798&emgid=4394901442391142364, which included a Compatibility mode for us who have older CPU. Older CPU lacks an instruction set called AVX, which they used to speed up game processing. Without it, the game just refuse to run and crash silently. I expect PLAZA team will release the latest patch game soon and with it, you may try launching the game in Compatibility mode. To set the game launching in Compatibility mode, use the SOSFoMTLauncher.exe (inside your root game directory) and check the box at the bottom right (*Compatibility Mode). Backstory: I bought the game on Steam today. But like most of you guys, I couldn't get the stupid game to launch at all (No error or warning pop up). I checked in the Event Viewer and found that there are some crash logs, spent some time to troubleshoot it but still the same issue. I decided to refund from Steam and install the crack version, which also experience the same issue. I then install it on my crappy laptop, which runs i5-3337U (mind you, that's below minimal system requirement) and it fucking worked. Something tells me that either they have bad support with older AMD CPU or another Windows 10 update ruins the day (my laptop was not updated with latest Windows 10 update). Update: Turns out some players with older CPU lack the required instruction (AVX), which lead to the game crashing on launch. Developer fixed it by implementing a Compatibility Mode, which solved the issue. I bought the game again.

Install both x86 and 64 bit versions, and restart your PC after installation. Also, reinstall the crack game. If done correctly, you should see WMVcore.dll inside C:\Windows\system32

I'm starting to believe the problem is something regarding older processors, like some sort of instructions newer cpus have embedded that older models don't, that somehow the game was built to work on.
Extract the tar.bz2 file using 7zip. You should now left with a folder with sde.exe and bunch of other stuffs.
Launch a Command Prompt/PowerShell terminal with administrative rights. You can do that by right-clicking the Start menu and select Command Prompt (Admin) / Windows Powershell (Admin).
Change the terminal working directory to the folder with sde.exe. You use the command cd [sde.exe folder path] to do so. Place a double quotes between the path if there are spaces. Example: cd "C:\Users\NicholasCWL\Downloads\sde-external-8.56.0-2020-07-05-win"
Pass the SOS FoMT executable as parameter for sde.exe. The command should look like this: sde -- [SOS FoMT.exe path] Example: sde -- "C:\Program Files\STORY OF SEASONS Friends of Mineral Town\STORY OF SEASONS Friends of Mineral Town.exe" Note: You need to append .\ when using PowerShell. (.\sde -- [SOS FoMT.exe path])
Your game should start emulating if the terminal shows no error. Check in Task Manager for the game. Disclaimer: This is a temporary method. I doubt it is any use as I am running at 3 FPS by emulating it. Unplayable. PS: If you are smart enough, you can set the sde.exe in system PATH so you can simply open a terminal with admin rights, run the command and emulate the game without using cd.
While I do have such suspicion, I do think there's more simpler reason for this issue. When I check the Event Viewer log, it threw a very weird error: Before you ask, no, the SSD is not corrupted, it is not a network drive nor removable, and I've reinstalled countless time, both Steam version and cracked version. And I did restart my PC.
Game is running fine, Win 10, 64 bit w/ i7 and my usb game controller works fine. The game did force close 1st time, then I installed Direct X from Jun2010 folder as suggested. It hasn't closed in the past few hours. I'm also using it w/ cheat engine and it works fine too.

Installed on both of my laptops, both same windows 10 version and similar settings, but with diferrent hardwares. the interesting thing is.. my newer laptop (2017) can play it flawlessly: AMD A4 9120 Radeon R3 512MB Vram RAM 4GB but my old laptop (2011) can't.. obviously: AMD E2 Radeon HD6320 RAM 4GB yep, maybe it is because the minimum requirements, but i don't think so. I think it is AVX?
since the game doesn't have any logs.. we can just keep an eye on task manager to see what just happened with the exe. It can run.. for a while, then "suspended" then closes. I can tell there is some sort of windows' software/apps blocked the SOS exe. I just don't know what.

Its a graphic card - a hardware - either you have it or you don't. Download speccy free software to see if you have it. It also needs to be at 620 or above
Update for anyone who wants the info. I read through some more suggestions and attempted a few. I saw someone had success with running the DirectX installer that came with the game, and while it did install some things that i was missing it didn't fix the game for me. I also read the comments about Windows Defender potentially being the issue, so i uninstalled the game deleted the ISO and turned off all windows defender protection and then extracted, mounted and installed the game and that did not work either. At this point, I have absolutely no fucking idea what the issue might be. I am fully updated on Windows 10 and have installed to both of my drives in multiple locations and have tried applying the crack with the launcher and manually. I have tried blocking the exe from my firewall and as i said installing and running the game with no firewall at all. At a total loss as to why its working for some people and not others.
Have you checked and updated your drivers? There is a few third party apps that identify drivers have an update. EDIT: Even w/ latest Win 10 update some still can not play. Hmm.. I want you all to be able to play too. Do you have something else protecting your computer like Bitdefender, Avast, etc? Antivirus software? I had to allow it / add exception to the game, not Windows Defender.

Ok listened you lot. Unless you are using a lower version of windows for a specific task that is required in your job (cause that task required lower version of windows for whatever reason)... This game requires DirectX 11.2 which only Windows 8.1 and above have. If you're still having errors, try installing everything inside the _CommonRedist folder.
No, there's no error message. The launcher can be accessed, but when I press save & launch, the game window won't show up (and even I do click the .exe (not the launcher), it still won't show up... I tried to look on task manager, and the game process actually appear, but only a few seconds and it's dissappear on process list. i tried to re-download, re-install, and even do the things for firewall/anti-virus.. but it's still like that... fyi, I use windows 10.

The program wouldn't launch.
upon starting program, a prompt would pop up stating some dll files were missing. ( and when I downloaded the missing.dll file from the net, an error occured and the program wasn't any more closer to launching) But as now, I have officially started the game successfully. All I did was go to the _CommonRedist folder and then the DirectX one and so on. In the Jul2010 folder this is a file, DXSETUP and let it run. After the setup was finished, I tried again and everything was fixed. I'm using Windows 10 I'm not saying that it will fix all the problems of the people here but better than nothing, right?
I don't think it can chief. Just installed it on my PC. I get an error, which I then googled and it pointed to a support function only windows 8 and above have.

The game won't launch, there's no notification or something else, it just like nothing happened when i try launch it. And i already copied the crack :(
Make sure you allow the download location of this game and install location for the game as a firewall exception for windows defender or whatever antivirus software you are using prior to installation. If you don't add your download location and install location as a firewall exception it will most likely be detected as a false positive and delete the crack automatically.

the title "Harvest Moon" we know long ago in japan called "Bokujo Monogatari"... it was created by Victor Interactive Software (later Victor bought by Marvelous Inc)... so the "Bokujo Monogatari" series is owned by Marvelous Inc. Then for the outside japan localization (translation and distribution). Marvelous do partnership with Natsume. they use english name "Harvest Moon" and Natsume hold the patent for that "Harvest Moon" game. in 2014 though. Marvelous decide to change the outside japan localization and distribution company from Natsume to XSEED GAMES. but since the name "Harvest Moon" patent owned by Natsume. they cannot use that and decide to change to "Story of Season" instead. Then Natsume also try to create their own original version of "Harvest Moon" competing with the original "Bokujo Monogatari". the latest "Harvest Moon" that still the original "Bokujo Monogatari" is "Harvest Moon Tale of Two Town" and "Harvest Moon 3D: New Begining" and the next "Harvest Moon" released by Natsume after that is a clone of "Bokujo Monogatari"... and honestly... the quality is subpar compared to original (my personal opinion though).
I install the game with out any problem ( Turn off Your anti virus ) then mount the iso file by daemon tool or any other program , then lunch the setup , in install directory option select this path ( C:\Games\STORY OF SEASONS Friends of Mineral Town ) , ( create the folder ( Games ) in C drive ) , then mark ( copy contents of PLAZA directory to installdir ) option , then press install , wait till its finish then lunch the game . Hope this will help You guys , The game is like ( harvest moon ) , it can be control by mouse and keyboard very easy or by controller , The game is enjoyable and very good game , try it guys .

I didn't do special things, just setup- tick the checkbox. then run game. My windows, I think is Windows 10 build 19xx , not sure. Didn't update it for some time.
I know everyone is saying its working fine for them and assuming it's probably user error in not knowing how to properly crack or not placing files correctly, but i've been cracking games for over 10 years and I've tried everything I could think of to get this game to start with no luck whatsoever. Crack has been applied manually and through the installer, have installed it to both of my drives and moved it into different folders then the default and nothing. The only thing I can think to try at this point is update windows but I am on Windows 10 already just needed a couple updates. The fact that most of the game files are sealed away in a file I cannot access has to be the problem and not one person who has a working game has addressed that question or told us if their game files are in the same state.
check windows defender... maybe it deletes / quarantines some cracked files... and maybe you can restore it and add exception to the windows defender... it happen to windows 10 windows defender a lot... hope this help
sometimes defender with a really high sensitivity won't even warn you that it deletes files and sometimes even quarrantines files when turned off, try to make a separate folder and exclude it from your antivirus then extract the rar or redownload it but this time redirect it to the excluded folder.
You must download DS4Windows or InputMapper program to work with PS4 controller on PC. They are programs geared towards PS4 controllers to work on PC. I would recommend using DS4WINDOWS. This is the link to it and the video shows how to install it. Make sure to watch it. http://ds4windows.com

Did you apply the crack? Copy all the files from PLAZA and paste it to STORY OF SEASONS folder. Then start play from launch file - I suggest changing it to english from 2nd to last option, there is screenshot how to do that above. ^
Can't get it to launch. The launcher opens in Japanese but the game will not start through the launcher or through the regular exe. It seems the large file named "disk" has a bunch of folders with game assets inside but when i tried to extract them all out there was a password. Not sure if that would fix it, but was something i wanted to try. If anyone has this working, let us know how you did it or if you did anything at all!

If there is no CommonRedist folder, you should need to install the game version posted here on IGG and not the one on the comments (the indonesian video), then overwrite the old files with the newer ones (the ones that have the STORY OF SEASONS Friends of Mineral Town_Compatibility.exe), copy and paste the newer crack (again downloading it from the indonesian video) and then install everything on the CommonRedist folder.

Strangely, it now created a "clash" dump file. Not sure it this file was created by SOSFoMT or SDE, but it appeared at the game folder after the crash.

i alrd replaced the PLAZA files into the root game directory, Steam doesn't pop-up anymore but when I click Save & Launch, nothing happens. Can someone help?
When installing the game with the installer, there's an option called "Copy contents of PLAZA directory to installdir". Make sure you check it before you install. If you didn't, just close the Steam pop-up, mount the ISO, copy the contents of PLAZA folder and paste it inside the root game directory (same folder with STORY OF SEASONS Friends of Mineral Town.exe).
Install the Visual C++ Redistributable framework (both 32-bit and 64-bit) under _CommonRedist\vcredist in your root game directory. Simply double click on "vc_redist.x86/x64.exe" should be fine (You might get Install failed because "Another version of this product is already installed", in that case just uninstall the 2017 version from your system in control panel.)
Navigate to C:\Windows\System32, copy a dll file called "XAudio2_8.dll" and paste it back in System32 folder. Rename it as "XAudio2_9.dll"
Bad news to you, I am suffering from the same issue. If I find out the solution I will get back here and update asap.
Update: Someone in the comment suggested to use https://software.intel.com/content/www/us/en/develop/articles/pre-release-license-agreement-for-intel-software-development-emulator-accept-end-user-license-agreement-and-download.html. It works by emulating the game using different CPU architecture, however the performance is terrible (especially if your CPU is already older to begin with). If you are interested, look in my reply on how to emulate it.
Update 2: SOS:FoMT dev released a https://store.steampowered.com/newshub/app/978780?emclan=103582791467558798&emgid=4394901442391142364, which included a Compatibility mode for us who have older CPU. Older CPU lacks an instruction set called AVX, which they used to speed up game processing. Without it, the game just refuse to run and crash silently. I expect PLAZA team will release the latest patch game soon and with it, you may try launching the game in Compatibility mode. To set the game launching in Compatibility mode, use the SOSFoMTLauncher.exe (inside your root game directory) and check the box at the bottom right (*Compatibility Mode).
Backstory:
I bought the game on Steam today. But like most of you guys, I couldn't get the stupid game to launch at all (No error or warning pop up). I checked in the Event Viewer and found that there are some crash logs, spent some time to troubleshoot it but still the same issue. I decided to refund from Steam and install the crack version, which also experience the same issue.
I then install it on my crappy laptop, which runs i5-3337U (mind you, that's below minimal system requirement) and it fucking worked. Something tells me that either they have bad support with older AMD CPU or another Windows 10 update ruins the day (my laptop was not updated with latest Windows 10 update).
Update: Turns out some players with older CPU lack the required instruction (AVX), which lead to the game crashing on launch. Developer fixed it by implementing a Compatibility Mode, which solved the issue. I bought the game again.
Bad news to you, I am suffering from the same issue. If I find out the solution I will get back here and update asap.
Go to Nvidia Control Panel > Preffered Graphic Processor > High Performance Nvidia Processor > Have fun.
SoS FOMT won't work if it start with your intel integrated graphic.
If done correctly, you should see WMVcore.dll inside C:\Windows\system32

Disclaimer: This is a temporary method. I doubt it is any use as I am running at 3 FPS by emulating it. Unplayable.
PS: If you are smart enough, you can set the sde.exe in system PATH so you can simply open a terminal with admin rights, run the command and emulate the game without using cd.

But as now, I have officially started the game successfully. All I did was go to the _CommonRedist folder and then the DirectX one and so on. In the Jul2010 folder this is a file, DXSETUP and let it run. After the setup was finished, I tried again and everything was fixed.

If you don't add your download location and install location as a firewall exception it will most likely be detected as a false positive and delete the crack automatically.

:P tldr: You should download and install the latest versions of: Microsoft Visual C ++, Microsoft .NET Framework, OpenAL, Java, XNA Framework, … (Search on google and download them from the official sites)
it was created by Victor Interactive Software (later Victor bought by Marvelous Inc)... so the "Bokujo Monogatari" series is owned by Marvelous Inc.
Then for the outside japan localization (translation and distribution). Marvelous do partnership with Natsume. they use english name "Harvest Moon" and Natsume hold the patent for that "Harvest Moon" game.
in 2014 though. Marvelous decide to change the outside japan localization and distribution company from Natsume to XSEED GAMES. but since the name "Harvest Moon" patent owned by Natsume. they cannot use that and decide to change to "Story of Season" instead. Then Natsume also try to create their own original version of "Harvest Moon" competing with the original "Bokujo Monogatari".
the latest "Harvest Moon" that still the original "Bokujo Monogatari" is "Harvest Moon Tale of Two Town" and "Harvest Moon 3D: New Begining" and the next "Harvest Moon" released by Natsume after that is a clone of "Bokujo Monogatari"... and honestly... the quality is subpar compared to original (my personal opinion though).
