I came here to mention this as well, the xgameruntime and any other redistributables mentioned in the instructions are not included in this, I only got it to "install" by altering the dependencies list in the manifest xml, and even then I had this error. Installing directx or the directx sdk didn't fix it, and I can't seem to find any info on the "xbox thing" mentioned in the instructions.
Games works perfectly fine but my issue is that I don't have any dlc's and in when I say "Install DLC" in the GDK_Helper.bat it just returns me that I don't have a DLC file directory which I can't get fixed. Any one else got the dlc's to run ?
For anyone else having problems with this, you need to move "appxmanifest.xml" into the Minecraft Dungeons folder to install. (Someone was sloppy packing this.) Start the game with the Dungeons.exe in Dungeons/Binaries/Win64.

Use the Launcher.bat to launch the game, and I also renamed the game folder to be shorter just type smth like 'MC Dungeon' or somthing shorter because of windowses character limit
If you keep the .exe file in the game's folder, make a shortcut to the game file and use the shortcut as the desktop icon/shortcut Sometimes games are required to stay in their folder as a verification measure.
If you are in the Game and it's asking you for your Microsoft account you do want to put in and actual Microsoft account that you can go back to and use.
I had the previous game version from here installed. I simply just replaced the Dungeons and Engine Folder with the newer version ones. If that doesn't help just dm ResKyuu#0303 ^^

I deleted my 1.9.3 version and downloaded the latest one before reading the coments... It was still working and I was already lvl 100. it's not lost forever, but it's linked to my account that doesn't have minecraft dungeons at all so I can't access it. Play again I guess. sad ;w;
the oneversion I deleted was too, but worth it bc I could connect to my account's save. also, I can get the gear back, "but" for that I'd have to buy the game for "that" account "and" all dlc's to sync and don't lose any items. :P

If its saying you dont own the game, then you need to have the server open. In my case when i login into the game its says that i dont own it but then another Miencraft dungeons starts where when i login it works(You can close the other not working Dungeons)
more or less my PC username has a "á" in it. I opened the game on another user and it worked. So it also has to do with the PC User and not only the PC name

The instructions at the bottom of the download area say create a new acct so your primary isn't banned, it also stats a ban risk either way but they just patched out the bypass as of a few days ago so you'll need to wait for the actual crack to be updated.

I agree that they are money hungry but not for this reason. My reason is the microtransactions they tried to force into minecraft. Not allowing someone to steal your game without paying and then calling them money hungry is like calling a library money hungry because they dont give you their whole stock for free.
Microsoft are working on the patch and are now locking/disabling the accounts used to play this. This game is no longer bypassed No point installing unless you want to lose your progress, wait for the right crack people
A lot of cracks will be recognized as viruses - that is not true. Cracks usually use various techniques like DLL injections, which were used in viruses some time ago. Unless you download your games from sketchy sites, you'll be fine.
Sorry if i am just being dumb, but the game folder says the version is 1.3.2.0, which i researched a bit about and says it is the patch where the new island comes out. I've been playing this game a bunch and would love to play the new content- Is there some update patch i didn't see, or is this just an older version of the game?

For that people that´s having this issue, open you cmd console as admin, and write netstat -ano | findstr :443 and before you write: taskkill /PID {your process id} /F you need
Hopefully there will be a properly cracked version at some point (even if the game is supposedly meh) because one of the main points for cracks are that you can still play the games in the future, when the official servers or other forms of DRM are not working anymore. I'm actually still keeping cracked versions of games I own on Steam or other DRM Platforms. Still having to use an Outlook account is bad. The server emulator could offer custom logins in the future.

Dont open the game itself. run the file that says server.exe and it will run within a few seconds. you'll be able to login after that. Make sure you play offline or ur account will get deleted.

edit: On the download it says 1.3.2.0, you may want to change that because it isn't. As of 13/07, this is v1.2.1.0_4271064 btw. Not sure that this comes with all of the DLC, the mods will have to clarify that. and make sure to follow Gabs featured comment :)

The game is not cracked, but the license check bypass works through emulation of the Microsoft server. Technically, one day this can be patched by developers and the bypass will stop working.
When you enter the game you will be asked for login information with your Microsoft account. DO NOT USE YOUR EXISTING ACCOUNT, THERE IS A BAN RISK. Create a new one that doesn't mind.
The server emulator uses port 443, so make sure you have it open in the firewall and that other applications such as VMWare do not work on it. In addition, MS addresses should not be banned in the hosts file.

and if you don't have custom.dll so you need to go to your Windows settings the bug comes from there

Not possible anymore, the new version doesn't come with a minecraft_server.exe, and when selecting network mode it says I'm not connected to internet.

my PC username has a "á" in it. I opened the game on another user and it worked. So it also has to do with the PC User and not only the PC name

Not sure that this comes with all of the DLC, the mods will have to clarify that.

then made an xbox account and worked perfectly i have played it for 4 hours and no crashes at all
tho the bypass is going to get fixed soon idk about crack coming tho

- The game is not cracked, but the license check bypass works through emulation of the Microsoft server. Technically, one day this can be patched by developers and the bypass will stop working.
- When you enter the game you will be asked for login information with your Microsoft account. DO NOT USE YOUR EXISTING ACCOUNT, THERE IS A BAN RISK. Create a new one that doesn't mind.
- The server emulator uses port 443, so make sure you have it open in the firewall and that other applications such as VMWare do not work on it. In addition, MS addresses should not be banned in the hosts file.
