Usually, they don't have slowdowns, they have no input lag, you can use filters, more possibilities of configuration, etc. But if you really don't want to use emulators or if it's too complicated, anyway you can download this blindly if shoot'em ups are your thing. Most likely there are even more downsides when playing it this way instead via a proper emulator with Overlays, CRT-Shaders etc. of your choice. When I see all these mini consoles with their questionable choices of display modes and games, I always wonder: "Why bother, if you are restricted in so many ways?". Old Games I want to collect, I own as originals and for the rest, emulation or FPGAs like MiST(er). As always, the original devs of these games won't see a Penny from what these companies make by selling them nowadays.
