Move the mod folder to the Half Life 2 folder, and create a shortcut for hl2.exe. Add this line after the quoted parts: "...\hl2.exe" -game "(Mod folder name)"

Tried it, the thing is,Smod requires the 2006 SDK, which cant be exactly pirated, and can be only traced back to HL2 if you have both the 2006 SDK and HL2 installed, so the only way to do it is with a legit copy, finally bought the game and its fun so definitely worth it.
As i said, yes you can, download MMod, place all the mmod files into your game directory. Then make a shortcut on the desktop. Afterwards, rightclick and proporties, and in the top directory part make space and type in -game hl2mmod_hl2 and it should work just fine.

Hey, anybody knows any way you can run this with Smod Redux? I always get the missing liberary error. I think this is because the lack of SDK. Cant buy hl2 rn because of financial issues. MMod works just fine when you make a shortcut, but i REALLY want to play smod.
guys can anyone help ambient sounds like using a health station or shooting a mounted turret or just pc sounds in the backround play for a few second and then just stop for no reason i tried changing sound quality and turning off v-sync but it still end after like 4 seconds meaning that they dont "loop" and its rly annoying if anyone can help i would like it
The same thing with me :/. I'm trying the other links to test, but it seems that they are all the same. I've tried several things here, updated the driver to see, and others. I think it's this half life that they made available. For now I'm leaving it at that, because that was the best so far.

It costs less to get the orange box set than it does to buy the HL2 expansions and game. I think for HL2 normal, this download is best. For the update though I'd just advise buying the game. It's less hassle and if we can be real here... $20 isn't too terribly much and if you REALLY want cheap, just buy only half-life 2. I'm not judging anyone at all. I give 0 fucks about piracy of games and double so for games over 10 years old. A lot of this is just because of the hassle. I don't think the hassle it'd take to get HL2 update working on the free version here outweighs the cost of just /BUYING/ half-life 2. On that though, you get me a link on IGG to just download a copy-paste version of the update as it's own link here and I'll eat my words.

I think... it's updated already... I checked, it's fixed a bugs when I typing c on Console commands, it's crash. and another is Alt + Tab sometime crash the game so they updated and fixed it.
The game just crashed after the Valve logo and it show error with this message: Platform Error: module failed to intialize. I disabled my Steam before starting the game.
Then download Revloader and modified rev.ini with: (replace game exe with): hl2.exe -steam -slient /help (replace your emulated steam name with): (your name here). You can do it your self.
The 2 part is the original game, you need to download that to play. The 4 part is updates to the original game, you can't use these without first downloading the 2 part game.
Ok listen I've been having a problem, but I fixed it and I want to share its solution, the games resolution is set to 1080, but the weapon hud is messed you so I change the resoulution to a different on and then back to 1080, well one day I clicked a weird resolution that my monitor/graphics card couldn't support, and the pregame VALVe video would play then it would glitch out, here the fix; go to properties of the hl2.exe, compatiblity, the at the bottom it will say something like "do not allow full screen" (right above run as administrator check box)apply it then run the .exe go to settings and change the resolution to one supported by your gpu/monitor, (I recommend 1600x900, most gpu/monitors support that)
Which one is better: Half Life 2 or episode 2 (and 1 even If I finished it) Because I played like 30 min in the episode 2 and It looks great. I never finished Half Life 2
the "Update" seems to be the full game as a stand-alone. I didn't need to install the game from the two files shown here as the main game. I just installed the "Update" and it's running the game. Why are there two different downloads here or what's the purpose of the first two files if all I need are the four "update" files to play the game?
I can't seem to run this game. I've tried reinstalling and redownloading on 2 computers, but everytime I try to launch it, it crashes after valve intro.
When i start half life after installing everything it starts like normal and then just freezes and crashes. Help me please. I have tried to open it as adminstrator.

Now there is no update anymore.
It's only have one of them.
