Because you still not crack it before start game. After install, you must open .iso file, you will see "CODEX" folder, copy all files in that folder and paste to your game's dir, enjoy ;)

Meaning, it simulates an internet connection to fool the game. You don't actually have outgoing connections to other servers, but just creating kind of an "intern loop" on your computer. DO AT YOUR OWN RISK. Normally, it cannot harm your computer, but if e.g. you use a shared pc or a local network already, it might cause some problems.
XCOM set a standard in the genre. Many strategy games will unsurprisingly borrow gameplay elements from it from hereon. I also personally like Mutant Year Zero's take on the same mechanics.
Tactic game are fun and a genre for a reason. But whats teh 45 gigs for? Its rather large for tactics based gameplay. Is everything just totally 24bit audio 4080p or something?

Yes you can circumvent it and easily. All you have to do is download any sort of programm that helps with internet downloads. For example, the one I use is Internet Download Manager. After that, you simply take the url and copy it to such programm and it will start downloading the files based on your internet speed.
just depends on the time of day and how many people are using it. They prioritize people that pay for their service, and then pretty much give free users the leftover bandwidth. Anyway, it means keep trying, itll get faster.

try disable the antivirus and windows defender and run it. If possible disable the internet connection and try again. seems like the installation goes wrong.
It's the crack from the codex folder on the DVD image. The game won't start without it because it will be trying to validate your ownership with steam. And you don't own the game. Other than that, update your graphics driver because the game whines for it immediately after starting.

I don't count chimera tbh it's just a spin-off money grabbing than a game the "biggest" problem I have with xcom is that the highest difficulty makes little sense to use since the game rngs against you...
From what I was able to see after a few minutes, this game is much more combat-oriented. It's less "tactical" and more "combaty", if that makes sense to you. You're more focused on your soldiers than on strategic layer. So far so good, looks quite promising, though due to technical difficulties, I'm unable to move on with it...
Much better than latest "XCOM Chimera" and with prettier graphics but not as good as previous Xcom games. A smarter Overwatch and a more simple gameplay than Xcom games. The killings are more brutal and the campaign has many missions

No it's not. I still use it to play DX8 / DX9 / DX11 games and as my main OS. Windows 10 for games is too darn awful. And yes, I have a Win7 / Win10 dual boot so I can back this statement up. Native DX12 games run ok but older games Win10 run them like cr@p.
Because not enough people use it for them to really care. 8 really screwed the market for 8.1. Right now Win 8.1 is at less than 4% of the market. It never even made it past like 7% of the market since it released. Even if they are still technically supporting it it's basically dead in their eyes.

8 was just one huge mess up. They definitely learned enough from it for 10, even if it has a ton of problems. The marketing was absolutely dreadful and I don't know what they were thinking.
Yeah right now Win 8 is sitting at a nice 0.54% of the market which means it has less users than even Windows XP (1.32%) does currently. On a side note it's pretty crazy that there are still even that many people using XP considering it's age. It SHOULD work on W7. The game includes specific files to run it with dx11, placed in a folder literally called "W7". My guess is that it's going to be modded to run on W7 pretty soon.
Not anymore, just try and wasted my time. I installed Windows 7 x64 and when run on game, it just nothing show up. Win 8.1 is the same too can't run at all.

the best way to find out if it works on win7 is by downloading and testing it, as i've already downloaded some games that only ran on win10 but worked on 7.
This game runs only on DirectX 12, there seems to not support DX11, even though the "Unreal Engine 4" have DX11 support so no... Win7 is not supported no matter what kind of crack it has.
