if it doesn't already launch in VR, you could try adding it to steam library as a non-steam game and in the settings of the game in the library check the "Add to VR library" option
Hello people! I really need help.. when i start the game it only opens on monitor and not in the vr. i can move via the mouse but not via the headset... i play on rift s and im really at the end right now after 2 hours of trying.
If the game isn't running in VR edit the shortcut (or make one) and put "-vr" at the end of the target section And then click "Apply" Then launch the game (FROM THE SHORTCUT) while your headset is connected and it will open SteamVR automatically.

The game won't launch. I applied crack like all of my games but it just won't launch. Tried to create a shortcut with command in target (-vr -steam...), Tried to launch it as a non steam game in my library. It just launch and close quickly the real game and ask me to buy it and create some "hlvr_[year][date][number]_accessviolation.mdmp" file. Any solution ?

Hey, So I noticed that they made a non VR version recently available on here. I was not aware that even a VR version was playable without going the........... normal way. So i D/L the new fitgrl version and did not install the no vr pack and tried EVERYTHING from putting it in steam and checking it as a steam game to downloading this version and going into the target and adding -vr. it still only opens on my monitor. I tried putting the -vr after the .exe and before I have looked around for a few hours before i made this comment to not be a bother and cant figure it out, Please help

ok, i managed to fix that problem but it wont start with the common error. I think there is no way to play this game wireless. Ive tried countless methods. Nothing works, you need the vd and wire.
Also for the dumbasses that dont know if this game is 100% vr. IT IS, theres just a glitch with vd that makes it play in 2d (desktop screen when the game is loaded) it can happen when launching a game first before steamvr but its a glitch that has happend to everyone atleast once. For Quest 2, you wanna open up the desktop window when you are in the Quest interface then launch Half Life Alyx with your vr controllers. Half Life Alyx should then boot up properly if you have -vr on the shortcut. You don't even need to start up SteamVR for Half Life Alyx to boot up, it should do that on it's own.
If you using a oculus quest or quest 2 try out alvr its a whole lot easier than air link ,and you can get it on sidequest for free. What I normally do is open alvr on my pc and on my quest,then let it load and open up the game that you are trying to play.

For people who are wondering whether this works on Oculus Quest 2, it works absolutely fine, just download the Oculus link app from the Oculus website and Steam VR from the official steam app(steam VR will literally launch anything as long as it is set to launch unknown scources in the general settings). You need a good c-type usb cable and compatible ports, but it is possible to play without 3.0 cables and ports although the connection would not be as good. Connecting and turning on the VR will make it detectable in the link app, after that, just open the executive file and it will automatically connect to Steam VR, making it accesible for yout VR device. Other than that, I'm sure there is a method to run it wireless, but I haven't tried it yet.

the instructions I wrote above are for connection via cable, I'd advise you to buy a long 3.0 C-type cable. You can find it at prices under 10$. if you really want it wireless, you'd probably have to use virtual desktop, which has no available crack at the moment. there is a IGG crack for Virtual desktop, but as far as I know, it doesn't work wireless as it is supposed to. at least the Virtual desktop app from IGG can show you your desktop screen on your VR, but nothing much more. it doesn't seem to have the wireless connection capabilities that the program is supposed to have. Virtual desktop itself is around 20$ if I remember correctly, and it isn't much of a ripoff considering how you can play many cracked VR games wireless with it. But I still recommend using wired connection. If you have somehow managed to connect your VR to your pc wireless, the problem must be that the connecting program isn't compatible with steam VR, and Steam VR cannot detect your VR headset. If it is the case, a message will probably pop up saying that steam VR cannot find your VR headset. If it is not the case, i cannot be sure on what is, and would suggest checking the connection and rebooting your VR device.

if you downloaded it recently you don't need to update it. Because the Files are already up to date. Only if you downloaded the game before the update dropped. Then you have to download the Updates.
Just put the links in jdownloader2. Takes slightly more time than pulling a torrent but it's generally safer and can be more reliable. It even extracts the files for you once it is done.

I'm hesitant about buying Oculus Quest 2 as I'm not sure if it's possible to run pirated games. Can somebody PLEASE confirm it's possible with Oculus Quest 2, about their experience running these games, and/or possibly provide a video showing how to run exe files? It only depends on the bandwidth of the router you are using. Any semi-recent router uses the Wifi5 standard and supports 5GHz. If not, you can find one for less than $20 new, cheaper than a decent usb c cable. You can use the wireless virtual desktop mode without any outside internet, it only depends on your local network. I've heard from several reviewers that the link support on the Quest 2 isn't as good as streaming it, since the color and image quality gets degraded. Probably just rushed implementation from oculus.

no i actually watched the game load up and activate steam VR then start a application process inside steam VR Called VR Recorder which is used by valve to check meta data of the executable and record tons of interresting data your ip address to be one why would a piece of software record your ip address there is a work around read above

first the latest update to steam VR which is required in order for this game to work installs a New plugin called the external source pack when steam cannot verify a developers app for steam VR a copy of that app's executable is sent to valve to look at the metadata of the file. now there is a work around until steam deactivates it.. how you do this is uninstall steam vr reinstall steam vr when it asks you to update the external source pack dont install it plain and simple this will however make other steam VR titles unstable

It is a pc vr game, the quest isnt powerful enough, to power it. But you can use the oculus Link cable (or any other usb c cable) to use steam vr to play it wired to your pc if you have one.

You can't. It is PC VR game. Quest is standalone headset and it's not powerfull enough for game like hl alyx, boneworks, etc... But you can connect quest to pc over oculus link cable and then play the game. Sorry for my lame english

in the end the error was not from my components it was from the game, delete and installed the game again and update all the oculus drivers and it works perfectly
Yap, not the 'same' , but identical gpu chip with identical performance, rebranded. Just like rx 590. If it work on 580, it will work on 480 and 590. Alyx don't whitelist gpu's by the name
Btw, problem may be if he use 8 or less GB of system ram. Game uses around 11-12GB and game is unplayable when lock or other hologram is displayed. V1.2 patch should fix this problem.

Unpack and copy/paste the "game" folder, who is inside the "update" folder, in your game directory and overwrite files if asked. DO NOT USE THE INCLUDE CRACK OR YOU'RE NOT BE ABLE TO CHANGE LANGUAGE!! That's how i installed 1.1, i try to install 1.2 tomorrow, and i don't Lost my save with 1.1 so there's no reason to Lost it 😉

En la misma carpeta donde encuentras el.ejecutable, tiene que haber otro (no recuerdo el nombre) que es directamente la consola, la puedes abrir antes incluso que el juego.

I spent 12 hours getting the psmove camera and all the stuff setup and I can't press the gd trigger to start a new game... Some other dude's advice to stick the exe in the steam dir didn't work idk what to do. It's crazy to me that all the hacked together crap to get the playstation move controllers acting like vr controllers on pc works but I can't edit the controller configuration for the game.
with megaup you need to click download a few times to get the correct file, or try right clicking the download button and copy link location then paste it into the url

Anyone who is willing to invest in a Virtual reality headset and is financially stable and spend time with it would do so, but dude there are literally tons of vr games on steam and as well vr mods for non vr games everywhere.. it's the next step into gaming. i get it you won't buy one but literally if you ever had the time to do so it will eventually change the way you play games today, just like it had done to me in 2018 when i first purchased my Rift cv1, i couldn't look back at 2d gaming, I wanted to feel like i was inside the game itself.. Well obviously spending at least 1000$ for a single game is not a smart thing to do, but Half-Life: Alyx is far from the only game available for VR. Virtual reality opens a wide variety of possibilities, and those interested in these possibilities will consider making such an investment. There is no audio in the game when booted. Granted I only made it to the start game menu, but I doubt that there is no audio until after the start menu.

For me, it's not about not having the money to buy a VR headset, I can't play VR because it gives me headaches, nausea, eye strain... the same thing happens with 3D movies, I can't watch for more than 10 minutes. There are millions of gamers out there with the same problem, this is not rare.
have you tried proper vr? none of the bullshit mobile vr or anything. I had the same issues as you with it hurting my eyes, and 3d movies being horribly painful, but a good vr headset doesn't use those techniques. i got a rift s and its amazing, no eye strain, and no sickness, its fantastic.

Try updating your drivers. If that doesn't work, then try a clean install. That completely removes potentially corrupted driver files and installs them all over again. Which can prevent issues.
Its a steam vr problem, used to happen to me. End any and all steam bootstrappers from the task manager. Then restart steam and click the Vr button in the top right first. It should fix it and run it then you can play :)
You can play that without VR, you just need that archive unpacked to your directory. There is too much for me (downloading HL-Alyx) to try that. Whats the reason, game is MADE for VR.

Just a few minutes in right when you are shocked in the elevator, instead of loading into the transport i load into a broken map of the city with random dialogue about jumping, i think it put me to a further load point then it was supposed to, does anyone have a fix for this?

hmm, do you have steamvr installed and running? are the game files not corrupted? Did you try running as administrator? Try updating to latest drivers and software on everything possible. If all else fails, re-download the game from torrents. Also, what headset you using? If it's an oculus headset, you will also need to install the oculus program onto your pc

yes the crack runs well, the quest with link is exactly the same as rift s(In my experience). The quality is not as good, because everything is streamed over a single usb connection, rather than an hdmi cable that goes directly into your graphics card. But it's barely noticable, also you need a beefy pc to run at decent enough graphics to notice the difference...

The game took me hours to download even with my 300 mbit/s connection :/ So faster download speeds don't mean anything in torrents, as the speed didn'g go above 1 mb/s...
no, on my oculus quest with oculus link. Played a part of the game on the quest speakers and another part with my HyperX Cloud II's plugged into the headset, both worked fine. I did set the audio quality in settings to ultra though, since I don't really see it affecting performance that much... But try going to the steam and oculus settings and setting the audio output only to the headset, not mirrored or any other way
I wouldnt advise. Kills performance. I can confirm everything you want (got it on a forum after I woke, you can just overwrite the files it worked for me). Go to the official patch discussion it is confirmed globally there, and I promise that thread is being suppressed right now. I bet everything I own on it. Its like all of a sudden the thread stopped. If you can get used to the snap turning, I would advise sticking with it unless you are stacked with a 2080ti (also reporting performance loss).

yeah, I have 300 mbit/s, so ~37 mb/s download, so If it used my full speed it would've taken 30 minutes, but it took about 8 hours to download jumping up and down between 400 kb/s and 2 mb/s, sometimes jumping up to 12 mb/s, but rarily... People aren't seeding enough so download speeds are poor...
Yesterday it downloaded to me at ~15MB/s via qBittorrent. Maybe try changing torrent clients if you are using something like uTorrent or whatever. I'm on a gigabit connection so I only used a fraction of my potential bandwidth but 15MB/s is reasonable so I can't complain. I seeded to a 10:1 ratio, so a little over half a TB.
Yeah that may be, but I prefer uTorrent since I trust it quite a bit, never heard of qBittorrent so don't wanna dvelve into new waters.... Also, I didn't download from here and I downloaded the game hours after it's launch on steam, so there were few if any seeders
I used uTorrent for like 6-8 years and switched over to qBittorrent about a year ago. Downloads are faster, the speed at which my DL's actually begin to DL was much faster, and UL speeds are much much faster. I could never really seed with uTorrent, my uploads were always a trickle. There's nothing stopping you from having both installed and just testing qBT while keeping uT installed. (ie, download a popular torrent on both and compare the results). Regardless though, happy torrenting. :)
Tbh I just like being in known grounds, I know all the malware/bloatware/adware Utorrent tries to constantly install and what it's doing, I know what those unusual tasks in task manager are doing etc... I'm afraid I won't notice some checkmark on the installer of qBittorrent or something and get a bunch of malware/adware :/... With Utorrent I at least know how to remove it or prevent it :)

weird, my game is laggy and choppy every time I open up the item selection menu for gun/hand/multitool etc... Unsure what's causing it, but I'm on a 4 gig 580 :/ It should work fine on a 1080, how mutch ram do you have? how much vram? what cpu you running on?
well you really should be fine with those specs, so something in general is causing this, maybe a weird background process or something... Try setting graphics to minimum and see if the problems go away, if they do, slowly up every setting individually and see which one might be causing it... I haven't had that issue so can't really help
I've put the graphics in low it is still the same, the game works perfectly if you don't have to interact with a character. And like I explained, on the screen there is no freeze only on the headset.. I will buy the game anyway I just need to wait until I got paid 😁
to be honest, 7 hours into the story I didn't really have to interact with a single character other than just goofing around and putting buckets on people's heads :) But support Valve, they are looking at how well this game performs ^^

it's basically the only program streamers/youtubers use for games, it's very good and free. Though you may have to fiddle around with stuff because it does take up a lot of resources to record at full resolution

From what I've heard the patch obliterates performance even on powerfull pc's and everyone advised not to update even if it comes out. But I'm unsure if it will be on here
the folder was hidden ... here is how to do it... C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Goldberg SteamEmu Saves\settings and edit account_name.txt and language.txt (Appdata folder is hidden so just click view and then click show hidden items or press WINDOWS+R and type %appdata% in the box that shows up)
just use adguard and universal bypass, go to your own google drive and make copies of the downloads, download 2-3 at a time and then destroy them, make sure to empty the trash as well, repeat $$$$
a tip for you in the future, if you make a copy of the files on google drive it lets you download em even if they are at capacity. you just gotta do them one at a time
rx 580(~1060) here, bare minimum settings, 40% resolution, and runs very well except for the gun/item selection menu. It also lags an f-ton for ~15 minutes after starting up, all fine after that, played for 3 hours and aside from the selection everything was fine- Oculus quest via link
If you dont mind not having smooth turning, I would advise not to update when it comes here, (or if you get it from other places now). Valve is clearly changing the way the game performs. I went from butter smooth to pulsating ms stutters. I was gonna buy this game. In no way will I support it now. It is blatantly obvious what they are doing. (Have a look at the official patch discussion to verify this is a global issue)

I had restored recently and didnt have much installed.. I just made sure oculus program was working.. then opened steam, downloaded steam VR.. then opened the .exe for HLVR. I told windows firewall to not allow it connections when it popped up in case that matters.
Hi I play the game while sitting down. My problem is that it looks like I play the entire game in crouch position. Maybe there is a "reset position" feature that sets the normal height to my current position? I can barely get to door handles, or the microphone at the beginning when alyx looks ad her dad's video.
Go into Accessibility Options while in game and select Height Adjust to Stand. then click left thumb stick in to change from standing to crouch. that is if you have a Rift S. but settings still should apply to others.
Thank you very much. I've changed the settings in the accessibility menu however my left thumbstick doesn't change my position (I have a rift s). Sliding it to each direction activates teleport and clicking (pressing) it sounds a buzz but doesn't actually do anything (the right thumbstick doesn't change it either). The settings menu mentioned something about binding these setting in steam vr menu, which I didn't understand. Is there something else I have to do?

Salut, souvent dans les dossiers d'un jeux tu as un fichier où tu peut toucher à un peut tout les paramètres. Ce sont souvent des fichiers .ini regarde si tu a ça dans tes fichiers. Après si tu trouve le fichier, il te suffit juste de changer la ligne ou il y a marqué language de english à french. Voilà j'espère t'avoir aidé...

Well, if you downloaded the torrent file, it should be in the Half-Life Alyx folder. Open that, open the game folder, and then go into the hlvr folder. The pak01_307 file should be there, amongst almost 500 others.

help i have a problem. whenever i try to start up the game a launcher error comes up and it says "Failed to load the engine2 DLL." "Error: (0x0000007e) The specified module could not be found" im using a rift is there a fix for this
Just to tell ya'll my experience with this game. It runs pretty horrendously on my mid-range pc: Ryzen 5 3600, Rx 580(4GB VRAM), 16 gb 3600 MHz, m.2 NVMe ssd. The game's minimum requirements list 6 gb of vram AND THAT REQUIREMENT ISN'T A JOKE.... Once the games tries to go past the 4 gb my gpu has, the game drops from silky smooth 72 hz(quesT) to ~5 fps. And it does it every time effects activate, like the computer vault, your GUN'S SIGHT, and those puzzles you solve with your multitool. Otherwise the game runs fine, but since you can't USE YOUR DAMN GUN, what's the point....... I have it turned down to minimum, 40% resolution on steamvr... Just sharing my experience and saying that if your hardware doesn't meet minimum requirements- there is little chance you'll have a great time... Edit: Also to add to this- DO NOT try to put the game on your hard drive DO NOT.... The loading screens were about 5-10 minutes long. Compare that to when I moved the game to my ssd the loading took 5-10 SECONDS. I do not reccommend playing it on a (slow) hard drive as it'll be the end of you.. The game has maaaany loading screens and just in the first hour of gameplay, there are like 5- aka 25-50 minutes of just loading... And if you're standing you get tired...
Runs fine on a 3600/16gb/970 on a 5400 rpm drive (SSD OS). No 25 minutes loading... Youre system is screwed up. (EDIT: All day yesterday before the patch 1.1, now its shit. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!! Valve is CLEARLY hindering performance!)
The big thing is 4gb vram is just not enough for me, it's maxed out and the game lags once it tries to go beyond that, otherwise my setup(and yours) work perfectly. Though my hard drive is sloooooooooowww as heeeeeeelll... Even installing games onto it from steam with 300 mbit/s internet takes forever, while my system ssd downloads at the full ~36 mb/s my internet is capable of... So yeah, my hdd really is slow af. It's a seagate barracuda 3tb(st3000dm007-1wy10g) I'm unsure what is it's rpm but it's slow af.... Just generally recommend moving the game onto an ssd, since 5 seconds load times are still better than 1 minute or whatever you get on an average hdd.
Hard drive speed really doesnt mean much at all. I have a WD BLUE. 4gb vram is easily enough if you dont patch to 1.1. Maybe its different on AMD cards if you have one? 970 handles this fine, yesterday I had no stutters or anything (im redownloading this one).

My quest was 300$ and I can play basically any popular vr game on it, I just bought a 40$ 10m cable and can now play pc-vr games, but my gpu needs an upgrade to a 2070 super prefferrably to have a good vr rig, 1060/rx 580 is bottom line for vr and more demanding games like Boneworks/HL Alyx. So yes, you need a good pc, and no- vr headets aren't expensive if you compare them to the pc's price itself...
in general if you get a quest you don't even need a pc... But yes, for good pc-only games like HL:Alyx or Boneworks you do need a beefy pc, but so do you need a good pc to run crysis 3.... Or at least that used to be the measurement.. Nowadays all games are unoptimized and unstable, a system can run one game perfectly and the other more powerfull pc might run the game horrendously... It's just luck these days :/ But yes, vr isn't cheap to get into... My damn cable for the quest was 40$ and that's without shipping, shipping was another 40$ on top- so 80$.... Long usb 3.0 are extremely rare...

tried everything btw. first started steamvr then hvr, deactivated anti virus, disconnected and reconnected my controllers on the screen, nothing seems to work.
these are very helpfull tips for people new to cracking that somehow can't find a game's exe, even though more experienced people know what to do at first sight of the "bin" folder :)
They made my game constantly crash. I'm also a bit mad since they've been bug hunting since December. But it's still a great game. And my performance isn't halved, launch HL:A as admin, fixed all my issues.
That's why they don't need to make games, But they make f****** good games, including the best VR games, as they just proved it again with Alyx, and If nobody buys them, they will never do it again.

You don't have legs in the game so you can just play while sitting with no problems. For parts where you have to crouch through holes you can just pull back on the left stick to activate teleportation and go ahead. The only problem you may encounter is taking cover behind shorter obstacles, but you can just take cover behind tall walls.

Pretty sure they discontinued that headset. Also its not that great for the price. Better off taking the plunge for Microsoft's Mixed Reality. Or wait for a deal for the Rift S. I got mine for free from the microsoft store with the purchase of my new gaming laptop.
seeding a torrent makes the download faster for others at the expense of your own internet speed, so its usually deemed a nice thing when you seed after download

Buy Boneworks then. Just as good as a AAA game IMO and isnt being published by a developer who is clearly increasing requirements\decreasing perormance intentionally with patches. First it was no smooth turn, no running (despite being able to teleport way faster than walking). After 1.1. EVERYONE performance tanked, but we got smooth turn. This is done with intent so they can maximize sales. Do NOT support this game at 60 dollars. Coming from a VR vet.
Run as admin.... Sometimes updates break things. An engine is complex, especially in VR. Admin fixed it for me. Also, run the game at 120hz and reset your settings, customize a single setting so it won't auto detect later and restart at 90hz.

People don't realize about VR is that it's still like a baby crawling, it's still too young.*** Hope I corrected you there VR is pretty grown up now, this is a sentiment that isn't holding up. VR has been in the works since the 90's and got rebooted by the vive on the 5th of April in 2016. Since then allot of new tech has entered the race and its really good now with tons of options, settings, tweaks and optimizations. There are also more than a hundred amazing games that I would rate a 4/5. Also note, almost every VR gamer has enough with just two or three really good games they regularly return to. For me Beat Saber, Pavlof, Space Pirate Trainer and a few more. Not sure how you're calling VR limited since its already in another realm compared to regular gaming. Which I shouldn't do because again, it's in a whole other realm of gaming. 2D gaming and VR can't be compared. I've dumped all my regular PC games and game VR only, it's amazing!
Doom failed because it was a cash grab like the fallout vr games. There are lots of games that do it right and almost ALL vr games since 2018 have smooth locomotion. I think we call it the second generation of VR. First gen was bad, teleporting or standing still. Second gen has allot more of the good stuff. Once you actually search for the good games yourself, you'll find a TON of great games.
This is so true, multiplayer in vr is so freaking fun! It's almost a multiplication of fun compared to regular multiplayer games because seeing people adds so much more to the interaction. Just wish leg tracking was cheaper and facial capture would be neat too. Assuming you are running Windows, Download "http://MegaBasterdWindowsPortable_7.23.zip" then extract that to a folder. Then run "MegaBasterdJRE_7.23". Once started go to file at the top then New Download. When that window is open each time you copy a link it imports it into there. Once all the links are in there press "Let's dance, baby" (yes) then they will start downloading.
This was working great for me for about 2 minutes until the speeds dropped off completely. I started at around 20 MB/s which is what I usually get on Mega, but now the total download speed of all files is between 100 and 200 KB/s.

I figured it out. The main folder had three subfolders. "game", "core" and "hlvr". Inside of the "game" folder there's a "bin" folder" this needs to be moved into the main folder and the empty "game" folder can be removed. I don't know why it extracted like that, but that fixed it for me.

Ryzen 3700x and a GTX 1070 16gb 3600mhz ram, unstable so downclocked to 3200mhz. Yes the index. I found out the game automatically sets some settings so I would recommend starting the game up at 120hz, then changing a single setting so it will be "Custom" settings. then restart in 90hz for no reprojection butter smooth gameplay. TBH you don't need a lot of hz because of the slow pace. Can be handy when panicking but its still great.

Ever think maybe someone wants to make sure the game will be WORTH saving the money for? Do you know how infuriating it is to save up for a game, buy it and then find out your PC can't even run it. In the past, I bought several games including Black Ops, Assassin's Creed 1, Alien VS Predator, and Dungeon Lords. None of them could run on the PC I had at the time each game launched. I have a good PC now and I'm not sure if my PC can handle HL:Alyx's graphics. Not to mention the number of games that launch only to turn out garbage. Maybe if companies would go back to offering demos for games you'd see a drop in the number of pirates like myself.
You have to understand that most downloads come from Third world countries (like mine) where a AAA game costs 1/5 of the most common salary, that if you find where to buy. For example, Steam has o regional pricing for my country, I have to buy he game in $, and I can only get that currency through the black market( can't get it legally anywhere) and you have to get it at double the so called the stock market price. And if you try to get the game through third party re-sellers, you get it at higher prices than that of the US, can you believe that ? Doom eternal now in my country costs 1/3 of the common salary, so how can we support the devs if we can't even support ourselves ? And don't start me on VR sets, HTC pro costs 10 times the common salary here. Can afford? Most gamers have a PC. A WMR is maybe 200. Still a lot of money for just one game. It's worth it but not everyone has the money. I need to pay for school, ensurrance, a place to live and public transit. I don't have money anymore. I saved for four years to get a PC, monitor, keyboard, mouse and the Index. I was lucky that my aimed VR headset came with the game because I wouldn't be buying it, no matter how much I love the franchise and Valve.
Euhmmmm Grab the bike before you go to the part where you learn to jump... Then hold it against the wall and do a 45 degree snap turn away from the wall and move the bike down, will fall through the world. Your hand and save is now fucked. You'll never be able to get the left russel on even if you save and load to get your hand back, it just won't attach to your hand anymore. Also, put a bucket in a bucket, then grab the top one and push down. Maybe even wiggle. Wow you merged the buckets! Open any door near a lightsource. Open it once in both ways, most of the time once you close it from one of the sides the light keeps shining like there is no door. Grab any object and see the shadow disappear. Probably optimization, might cause the issue mentioned above. Mind you, they haven't added stuff or changed stuff since December and only bugtested. Which I apparently do really well? Also, not a crack issue. I have the Index and got the game for free.
I mean, no game is going to be a perfect 1/1 simulation of life, and day 1 bugs are almost always a thing. Other than the first one, none of them are game-breaking and likely are just low-priority. I'd definitely send that first one to their Support page though.

For multiple reasons, I just finished the game and I can tell you this: Gameplay wise, the game is tuned to vr. You have to reach through windows to unlock doors, and interact with a whole bunch of objects in ways that you cant with mouse and keyboard. Secondly, why would anybody even do this. The game is trully astonishing in vr and gives you a whole new look on city 17, one that is immersive and really gives you chills. If you want to play in city 17 on a normal screen, play Half-life 2.
It's not an experience that works on PC. It's all about the VR experience and not a fun shooter type of game. It's about exploring every nook and cranny and panicing when you get jumped or overrun. SEMI SPOILER. If you play the first chapter, you open the door to the second balcony, you'll get it. The scale, detail, it's not something you'll be able to get on a 2d screen with mouse and keyboard.

Download and install GCFScape (google it)
Use GCFScape to extract the .vpk file contents ("root" folder) into the following HLA folder:
Half-Life Alyx\game\hlvr_addons\ <-----put "root" folder here
Change the folder name from "root" to whatever you want.
Open game, open add-ons, start new map.

if you really want it wireless, you'd probably have to use virtual desktop, which has no available crack at the moment. there is a IGG crack for Virtual desktop, but as far as I know, it doesn't work wireless as it is supposed to. at least the Virtual desktop app from IGG can show you your desktop screen on your VR, but nothing much more. it doesn't seem to have the wireless connection capabilities that the program is supposed to have.
Virtual desktop itself is around 20$ if I remember correctly, and it isn't much of a ripoff considering how you can play many cracked VR games wireless with it. But I still recommend using wired connection.
If you have somehow managed to connect your VR to your pc wireless, the problem must be that the connecting program isn't compatible with steam VR, and Steam VR cannot detect your VR headset. If it is the case, a message will probably pop up saying that steam VR cannot find your VR headset. If it is not the case, i cannot be sure on what is, and would suggest checking the connection and rebooting your VR device.

I've heard from several reviewers that the link support on the Quest 2 isn't as good as streaming it, since the color and image quality gets degraded. Probably just rushed implementation from oculus.
-Play with a 3.0 USB cable.(Recommended).
-Play wireless with a 5ghz WiFi connection.
For the cable you need:
-A 3.0 USB cable (not the one included in the box). You can get the official cable, which is only USB type C for 80$, or get a third party one. I personally recommend https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01MZIPYPY/.
-The oculus software on your PC. You can install it https://www.oculus.com/download_app/?id=1582076955407037.
When you got all of that ready, first turn on your headset and launch the oculus app on your PC.
If you are welcomed with a headset selection box, click the button that says "Quest 2". If it doesn't show up, on the main page go to "Devices" and hit "Add Headset". Follow the instructions on-screen to connect your device.
When you are all done, and you are in the oculus rift environment:
1- Go to the PC app.
2- Open the settings.
3- Click on "General".
4- Turn on "Unknown Sources"
If you launch the game you should be able to play it on your oculus quest 2.

If you can get used to the snap turning, I would advise sticking with it unless you are stacked with a 2080ti (also reporting performance loss).

The game's minimum requirements list 6 gb of vram AND THAT REQUIREMENT ISN'T A JOKE....
Once the games tries to go past the 4 gb my gpu has, the game drops from silky smooth 72 hz(quesT) to ~5 fps. And it does it every time effects activate, like the computer vault, your GUN'S SIGHT, and those puzzles you solve with your multitool. Otherwise the game runs fine, but since you can't USE YOUR DAMN GUN, what's the point....... I have it turned down to minimum, 40% resolution on steamvr... Just sharing my experience and saying that if your hardware doesn't meet minimum requirements- there is little chance you'll have a great time...
Edit: Also to add to this- DO NOT try to put the game on your hard drive DO NOT.... The loading screens were about 5-10 minutes long. Compare that to when I moved the game to my ssd the loading took 5-10 SECONDS. I do not reccommend playing it on a (slow) hard drive as it'll be the end of you.. The game has maaaany loading screens and just in the first hour of gameplay, there are like 5- aka 25-50 minutes of just loading... And if you're standing you get tired...
(EDIT: All day yesterday before the patch 1.1, now its shit. DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!!! Valve is CLEARLY hindering performance!)

1: Game is in YOUR_GAME_DIRECTORY\Half-Life Alyx\game\bin\win64\hlvr.exe
2: Run the game as admin to avoid losing your save file and not being able to load the next area
3: If the game won't run then close it and start steamvr first
4: To change language and playername go to C:\Users\YOUR_NAME\AppData\Roaming\Goldberg SteamEmu Saves\settings and edit account_name.txt and language.txt (Appdata folder is hidden so just click view and then click show hidden items or press WINDOWS+R and type %appdata% in the box that shows up)
5: If you can't get past press trigger to start, try reinstalling the game as a torrent instead of parts
6: If you want to use cheats, right click on the game's shortcut on your desktop, and at the end add the parameter -console -vconsole. Then run the game as admin (as usual) and once your'e in game press ~ to open the console. Here are some cheats.
-sv_cheats 1: Toggle cheats
-god: invincibility
-sv _infinite_ammo 1: Toggle infinite ammo (change 1 to 0 to disable)
-sv_infinite_clips 1: Toggle infinite ammo in the mag with no need to reload (change 1 to 0 to disable)
-hlvr_shotgun_grant_upgrades 3: Give shotgun with all upgrades

This is done with intent so they can maximize sales. Do NOT support this game at 60 dollars. Coming from a VR vet.
Sometimes updates break things. An engine is complex, especially in VR. Admin fixed it for me.
Also, run the game at 120hz and reset your settings, customize a single setting so it won't auto detect later and restart at 90hz.

VR is pretty grown up now, this is a sentiment that isn't holding up. VR has been in the works since the 90's and got rebooted by the vive on the 5th of April in 2016. Since then allot of new tech has entered the race and its really good now with tons of options, settings, tweaks and optimizations.
There are also more than a hundred amazing games that I would rate a 4/5. Also note, almost every VR gamer has enough with just two or three really good games they regularly return to. For me Beat Saber, Pavlof, Space Pirate Trainer and a few more.
Not sure how you're calling VR limited since its already in another realm compared to regular gaming. Which I shouldn't do because again, it's in a whole other realm of gaming. 2D gaming and VR can't be compared.
I've dumped all my regular PC games and game VR only, it's amazing!

There are lots of games that do it right and almost ALL vr games since 2018 have smooth locomotion. I think we call it the second generation of VR. First gen was bad, teleporting or standing still. Second gen has allot more of the good stuff. Once you actually search for the good games yourself, you'll find a TON of great games.

It's almost a multiplication of fun compared to regular multiplayer games because seeing people adds so much more to the interaction. Just wish leg tracking was cheaper and facial capture would be neat too.

I found out the game automatically sets some settings so I would recommend starting the game up at 120hz, then changing a single setting so it will be "Custom" settings. then restart in 90hz for no reprojection butter smooth gameplay.
TBH you don't need a lot of hz because of the slow pace. Can be handy when panicking but its still great.

Yes, turns out that if you like a VR game.. you can easily spend 8 hrs nonstop in a single game for a week. And you'll find favorites that you'll keep coming back to. I like Pavlov HL:A and BeatSaber the most. Budget Cuts, space pirate trainer, pistolwhip, gorn, superhot and arizona from time to time.
Oculus has a lot of GREAT exclusive games which you can just play using a tool.

Then hold it against the wall and do a 45 degree snap turn away from the wall and move the bike down, will fall through the world. Your hand and save is now fucked. You'll never be able to get the left russel on even if you save and load to get your hand back, it just won't attach to your hand anymore.
Also, put a bucket in a bucket, then grab the top one and push down. Maybe even wiggle. Wow you merged the buckets!
Open any door near a lightsource. Open it once in both ways, most of the time once you close it from one of the sides the light keeps shining like there is no door.
Grab any object and see the shadow disappear. Probably optimization, might cause the issue mentioned above.
Mind you, they haven't added stuff or changed stuff since December and only bugtested. Which I apparently do really well?

Gameplay wise, the game is tuned to vr. You have to reach through windows to unlock doors, and interact with a whole bunch of objects in ways that you cant with mouse and keyboard. Secondly, why would anybody even do this. The game is trully astonishing in vr and gives you a whole new look on city 17, one that is immersive and really gives you chills. If you want to play in city 17 on a normal screen, play Half-life 2.

It's all about the VR experience and not a fun shooter type of game.
It's about exploring every nook and cranny and panicing when you get jumped or overrun. SEMI SPOILER. If you play the first chapter, you open the door to the second balcony, you'll get it. The scale, detail, it's not something you'll be able to get on a 2d screen with mouse and keyboard.
This game would be too short for 2d and the scavenging and graphics would be pointless.
No Valve didn't intend the game to be moddable, people are using an older version where some commands where still enabled in the engine. Also Tyler talked about this. Its not fully playable, the game doesn't work how it should and its not fully playable without cheats. Also, its way less fun.
they are probably gonna make a PC version like many VR games out there who have a PC version too
