I have one question. my specs is surpass the recommendation system requirement. in game my setting is High and game run smoothly in 61 FPS. but if I set Ultra, FPS is drop and not stable even walking sometime it's 25 and 35 and 55 and 61 and keep changing. my specs is GTX 970M 4GB. in game I set High game run and stable FPS locked at 61 all time. the only one thing I could come to mind is screen resolution is not 4K but 1080p only.

Most of console games are compressed if not all to save bandwidth and size, depends on company used data compression algorithm, some of them use light data compression reducing overall size from 5% to 10% only (light data compression = light reduce in game loading time) but some companies compress thier games to 50% or 60% of actual size resulting in low game size (but more loading time on consoles - for example it take 1min to load on PS4 and around 30 sec on PS4 Pro, different consoles models also result in different loading time and performance. Haha, that explain it, you have lower RAM than my laptop, increase your windows VRAM (Virtual Memory) at least 6 GB (it takes free space from your HDD/SSD and use it to increase/replace RAM memory) and set it to programs (since you have only 2GB, I suggest you to set it to 10 GB for better performance) then restart your computer, game should at least run faster than before.
I'm talking about Virtual Memory (VRAM) not VRAM (Video RAM) , although it's my fault for using the same word for both categories, I should've used VM RAM word instead, google it if you don't know method yet.

whoa whoa calm down no need to rush. especially these story-heavy type of games need to be enjoyed slowly and calmly and about your question. the answer is yes and no -Yes, if you want to understand the story as a whole, all the conflicts and characters involved, their motivation, etc. -No, because this story focuses on Rean and his group, though you'll meet some of the previous arc characters. they still explain their backgrounds just a bit enough for you to understand their involvement.
Thanks for the reply. I've decided to play the previous arc, around 5 hour into Trail in the sky already. And man, It feels so good to at least understand some of the reference now. Also note that i did rush through CS1 and 2 but only the battle part since i play on the easiest difficulty, otherwise I still take time to look into the story so no worries. I might challenge myself with higher difficulty once all these catch up stuff is taken care of :D

directx already installed when i downloaded the game .. even vcredist are installed .. Tocs 2 played smoothly .. i already tried to reinstall the game same error popped up .. im at chapter 4 the error pops up (cutscene) when they go at the party . i cant even skip it

So, there seems to be a problem with the DLC's, well, namely the costumes. It seems that almost all of them will not load, and not only that, the game crashes a bit when I try to put them on. When scrolling through the ARCUS II's cover art however, when I equipped Rean's, nothing shows up, but if I scroll pass Elliot's or Sara's their ones seem to replace the art. Items and such work fine, it just seems to be the costumes.
torrent doesnt have that update, 1.04 has like 50MB size while the 1.05 has around 300MB, check the DLC on the ini tho.. i've checked it on IGG as well as well as other sites, the 1.04 update her has 24 DLC. the 1.05 has around 50+, there should be around 80+ iirc, just add the DLC on the ini as most of it is lock only anyways. EDIT: torrent doesnt have that update cuz its the Main Files, thats the reason you can find the update on the bottom and just download it separately, its a CODEX update anyways so its most basically click and update..

Cold Steel is a new story that doesn't depend on the others.You will understand what happened and the importance of some characters to the story if you play the other games,but you don't NEED it to understand the story. There is a chapter dedicated to Crossbell but is made in a way that you can still follow the story even if you didn't play the Ao/Azure series.
It has a self contained story, but you would be foolish to think that none of the earlier games' events and characters carry as much if not more of the weight of the grand plot. Even Falcom is creating the Kai versions of Zero/Ao to tie into everything better (e.g. retroactively adding Juna)

When people ask this question they need to also add their specs. None of us are omniscient. The minimum is an 8 year old graphics card, so I suppose your good if you have the equivalent of that or better.

That was fast. Still glad i bought it though, they deserve the money(unlike some other companies today). Also there's this neat feature on Steam where you can launch the game directly into your last save, skipping the launcher, intros, main menu and load game screen.
sadly no. the first 2 games were great and gave a lot of hope for a great story. but then they started to fuck it up hard with this 3rd game and even worse with the 4, making the first 2 completely pointless. it had a lot of potential, because multiple game series play in the same world and then towards the same end. trails of cold steel, trails in the sky and ao no kiseki, which only was released in japan. the other series are great, but since its the same ending for all the games, its a waste of time. one of the biggest dissappointments ever.

If you enjoy a good story over a long-arcing plot, then start from Trails in the Sky series, Trails from Zero, Trails to Azure, then Trails of Cold Steel. If you don't really care and just wanted some gameplay, then go ahead and start here. Just a reminder though, the reason why the Trails series is popular is because of its story and living world. Every NPC with a name has something to say, and even random passerby C has something different to tell you after every chapter. Some minor NPCs have their own stories and truly live within the world the game has set, Some are impacted by the events, others continue on their merry way.

since this one was made for a different console it doesn't have carry over from previous save, you can select some story elements though i believe. though that may be different from steam carryover
The game releases on March 23. So it literally just came out. The reason why it got cracked so quickly is because the game is in GOG in addition to Steam. If a game is on GOG people literally just download it from GOG then upload it and there you go it's cracked. If a game is only on Steam then that's when the cracks won't be instantaneous.

this is a full game, and its better to play the first 2 games of this series anyways, most gameplay elements are the same, only the story moves forward as the this series is heavy on story compared to other JRPG,
the boss fights say otherwise. so instead I just watched some playthroughs and even then I just couldn't sit down to it. turns out the battles are much more boring to watch.

and about your question. the answer is yes and no
-Yes, if you want to understand the story as a whole, all the conflicts and characters involved, their motivation, etc.
-No, because this story focuses on Rean and his group, though you'll meet some of the previous arc characters. they still explain their backgrounds just a bit enough for you to understand their involvement.
Also note that i did rush through CS1 and 2 but only the battle part since i play on the easiest difficulty, otherwise I still take time to look into the story so no worries. I might challenge myself with higher difficulty once all these catch up stuff is taken care of :D
In this video here you can see that CS3 assumes you played CS2's NG+. So, if you didn't, I advise you to play it. Well, you could just watch some videos which show the exclusive content, but I don't think it's the same as experiencing it.

it had a lot of potential, because multiple game series play in the same world and then towards the same end. trails of cold steel, trails in the sky and ao no kiseki, which only was released in japan. the other series are great, but since its the same ending for all the games, its a waste of time.
one of the biggest dissappointments ever.
you played 2 whole games, where the class 7 met each other, got closer to each other, overcame dangerous situations together etc etc, only to become some shit supporters in the 3rd and 4th game and got replaced by new, weaker and younger members, who dont serve any real purpose to the plot whatsoever. ash is the only one, who is interesting for his background, but also not really needed, especially not as one of the main characters. not to mention that they become the "main force" to fight off the bosses, while the original class 7, who are much stronger than them, just are there to support them.
also shitting on everything olivier said about them, placing their hope on the new generation, obviously meant the original class 7, only to add a bunch of even younger and much weaker kids for no reason whatsoever.
also many of the other groups are missing too from the other 2 game series and it was just mentioned, they had something else to do. sure, the whole world is being threatened by one group at one point and some of their strongest fighters like zin, kevin, rixia, wazy, arios etc, and not even just the main characters, but many strong support characters of these games too.

Every NPC with a name has something to say, and even random passerby C has something different to tell you after every chapter. Some minor NPCs have their own stories and truly live within the world the game has set, Some are impacted by the events, others continue on their merry way.

i have yet to play the first game in this series anyway...
have been searching for story-driven RPGs like this since a long time...
lately, a decent story-driven RPG like this is getting rare...
so instead I just watched some playthroughs and even then I just couldn't sit down to it. turns out the battles are much more boring to watch.
I never had to grind. Most people never had to grind. How can you alone be so bad at this turn based game that you'd need to grind?
