look friend before version 1.0 forward I was able to play a few times with a friend! but after 1.0 you need some Monstrous Bangs for TALVES! MAYBE online mode works.

Just spent about an hour trying to figure out a solution for this very issue. I am happy to say that I was very successful. What you need to do is to preserve the crack from the previous version. In the case of going from version 1.1.2 to version 1.1.3, you need to backup the following files from the "bin" folder: steam_emu.ini, steam_api64.dll, steam_api64.cdx, steamclient64.dll, GameOverlayRenderer64.dll, and codex64.dll and put them back in once you've updated. Actually, you probably only need to backup the steam_emu.ini file, but I haven't tested that. Alternatively, you can just re-apply the crack from the previous version if you still have it. Be sure to change your player name in steam_emu.ini to match what it was previously (assuming you've changed it before). Hope this helps. Enjoy.

Check the supported game version of the mod. For my the mods work but if a mod is in it self broken then there is not much anyone (as in people that do not mod) can do about it.
I brought many mods, some of it get redlisted by the game as not supported, pertaining to .23 or .24 version of the game, but even the whitelisted(1.0) made it freeze. I'm not sure but maybe the cracked game is built on different versions of the game? I will try to load each one by one, but it seems not to be working.

To play online you need change offline=1 and AccountId=0 in steam_emu.ini, then you cand host multiplayer game, friends can joun using direct ip, or use vpn program hamachi or radmin vpn.
so far, the instalation was canceled multiple times and i had to restart multiple times too. also, you need to move the data folder to the bin folder after instalation - else there is a crash. and in the end, i can't even start a world, nor delete one - maybe the world folder is missing? i dunno, but it doesn't seem to work. hope it'll get fixed sometime

Sure, i was busy with corona virus and work. -Easy, when you create a server using server.bat go to %appdata% avorion / galaxyes / the server galaxy -edit server.ini on the [Networking] text section make sure these settings are exactly as mine: isPublic=true isListed=true isAuthenticated=false sendStatsToAdmins=true useSteam=false Then you just open your server, with smartsteam.emu on "online mode" before FBI opens your door. And at last you give your ip:port to your friends to join, and that's it. Made some backwards investigation failing to host for a couple days to figure it out because no one else did/could do it.
So in order to play the host shoud port forwarding, if not nobody can host right? Because Me and my friends want play online but we can't port forwarding and for this we are going crazy

when i try to start single player game i get this "connection to local instance failed: no response." i have reinstalled, turned off firewall, and launched from /bin folder. anyone else have a solution?
You need to read the comments here. Setting the game to offline[comments above will help you] or even creating a batch file in the game folder(.bat) by going to notepad;new textfile;setting new parameters; like setting the game to run from avorion.exe instead of avorionserver.exe, would fix most problems with older GFX cards. Now to run online is a whole other thing.
Use client.bat worked well, there is no need for any other tweaking. I wonder why PLAZA used the bin .exe file as shortcut instead. Anyway, thanks for the issue fix!

I want to start the game but its says: Failed to initialize Steem API, please restart Steam and try again. I restarted steam several times but it wil not start.
try to unpack it again. maybe your antivirus removed something. you dont need steam for this game, i tried played it and working fine. and you need copy crack from plaza folder and then paste it to main game folder.

freespace its a space ship simulator avorion its more a sandbox than simulator a friend long time ago convinced me to play avorion when it was early access and i like it, but the single player ended boring me after a while they developed this game to be more for multiplayer

Ammm... O_O I spend about 30+ mins trying to find solution to the problem going through reinstalling the latest drivers changing my NVIDIA settings and all type of other stuff. This solution worked like a spell! Thank you kind stranger :)
ok i dumped the data folder into the bin folder, it worked, UNTIL i tried to play in singleplayer. in the loading screen in the left bottom corner i read connect but it fails and sends me back to the main menu. :(
Copy (not move or cut) the "data" folder into the "bin" folder.
Start the game with the desktop shortcut and create a new game. It will fail to start the game.
Then in the game folder start the game with "client" batch file. And load the game you earlier created. That's how it worked for me. Also did change the line in the "steam_emu" fileSet Steam connection to offline mode
