Just like others comments before me, I think the story is pretty good. But the choices we make doesn't change how the main story goes at all, it's just a litte different on how the story told or how the MC gonna responds to something The only major thing you can change in the story is the romance, you can even romance the enemy (which is pretty hard to do) Overall, I think it's still worth a shot if u don't mind a linear plot.
I think the story of the game is a solid one. But there are 2 major problems.Firstly, the choices you make dosent affect game greatly and personally i think is a serius problem with this genre. Secondly, i think there should be more choices to select it felt like a book than a text based game.
I 100% agree, this is not a CYOA but a glorified, kinetic novel. While i can see the author being actually competent and capable (and he probably actually has a layed out plan for the next books) i find this first 1 kinda discouraging from getting the next ones, which is sad, because the writing is one of the best so far.
While i can say for sure that the writing of this is top notch i highly advise people who do not enjoy reading about themselves being abused, tortured and just generally ravaged and mistreated to stay away from this CYOA.It advertises itself as something that it is not. In fact the description is highly misleading and probably a general description for what the author maybe has in mind for the next installments. First of all there is little to 0 actual choice, the player character, almost exclusively, reacts and the choices only offer slight variations and no meaningful impact, as far as i can say. Second: this is just the first game of MAYBE more, which has become a bad habit of many CYOA authors and is, in this case, extremely frustrating and unfulfilling because the game basically ends in a way that makes it kinda implausible the player character would even be in the next "chapter". Also, in my experience, most continuations of these types of games are horrendous and often times almost completely fail as sequels, ruining what could have been a great story or making an already mediocre adventure into a confusing and unsatisfying mess.
That depends on your tastes, i really like those games (i love books as well) in theory, though some of them are a little lackluster and disappointing. But my critique of this game comes from the perspective of someone who holds those CYOA games in high regard. :) I just think they have been declining in quality of writing, story, characters and choice-wise.
It's already updated
