I personally love VHS effect, it makes the ambience feel more ominous. Probably because of how much me and my cousins watched horror movies in old VHS tapes when we were children, haha! I wouldn't complain if this becomes a frequent thing in horror games from now on.
Every game this developer improves on fear factor on their games(i was scared watching let's play of it,which is rarity factor of 2 to about 900 horror games,second game that scared me was doki doki literature club and in different way too),they need also to improve on creativity since some of these game premises are puppet combo wannabees. Here is idea example for new premise that you can fill with story: Dreamworld(nightmares) swapping with real world. You go to sleep in real world and you start to play in dream world and have target to escape it every time you go to sleep,if you die in dream you dont return to real life,but others dream of you as one of the victims of the unknown that can be exorcised.
well actually they are kinda a good dev studio they make some good horror game like Stigmatized Property, Aka Manto, Inunaki Tunnel, and Okaeri butter check it out. it's actually really cool and yeah it's seems like they trying to follow the art and the flow of PuppetCombo in some of their game.
It is the kind of games that I prefer to watch rather to play it. So, I visited YouTube, I googled by The Convenience Store and I checked for full walkthrough... but hey, a video with Gardevoir, clicked!. Why? Priorities!. :-3
