This doesn't make any sense. Have they ever heard of the Langrisser series or Nectaris? How much money did Nintendo pay the judges? A company can't forbid you from making a game of a sub-section of a genre. You could say that Fire Emblem is just a fantasy version of games like History Line, Battle Isle, Nectaris (came out before Fire Emblem) and so on. PS.: Nintendo sucks and never stopped sucking since blackmailing developers in the 80s to release games on their platform only...
Samus Returns was no good? The one Mercury Steam remade with N. Seems the 3DS library is just piling up full of crap remakes/remasters, maybe even Snake Eater 3D, and Luigi's Mansion as well.
Yeah, graphically the 3ds had limitations especially with that Metroid remake. Although that didn't hinder it from being an enjoyable game from my own experience. I'm not about the whole boycotting that IP, in fact I support Mercury Steam and Nintendo to improve upon their future works. AM2R was a great freeware remake that deserves to stand beside Zero Mission. Independent developers who make passion projects are modestly and greatly appreciated by fans both old and new. So question is, how does it fair when the original company responsible for their own IP was (at a time) overshadowed by an effectively ambitious indie developer with those in support? It's a dichotomy of the underdog favored over the big N. Or little N depending on the outlook one has for that company.
I see AM2R as a more Metroid game then the official Remake as AM2R has this nice little touches that makes it stand out and some really unique locals unlike in Samus Return where when there's a new area it's just a different colored cave with the ocassional hi-tech ruins Also I found the bosses on AM2R to be more fun then the remake
My fantasy was to have Wayforward develop a Metroid game. They've got so many close similarities, and would have been interesting to see and play out that way. Surprisingly, we got Cadence of Hyrule with Crypt of the Necro. style game mechanics. It worked, and was a hit. Idk if Nintendo will branch out as much in the future with indie dev teams. Could be beneficial if they continue this way.

it was made using an SRPG studio so nope. not even the dismount cavalry unit. Nintendont already bashed kaga lot of time for his tear ring saga and brewick saga after all due to the fear of it become fire emblem competitor. i dont think he will be able to produce something like tear ring saga
For some old fire emblem fan this might be is. specially since this one stay true to weapon triangle. imo FE three house are basically a spin off colaboration FE + smt we waiting for instead the tokyo mirage and not the main title simply since they kinda ditch weapon triangle which make fire emblem a fire emblem.

But yeah, Langrisser (old ones), Front Mission, utawarerumono, etc are already much better games in different sense. Fire emblem would be at the same level as advance wars of the genesis (they kinda went along together, people that played advance wars played FE and FE users played advance wars) I say this as someone that played nearly all of the strategy RPG games in existence lol.

Well, they had to copy Langrisser / Growlanser to make it, But contrary to Langrisser and Growlanser one (the relationship system there is very good and changes outcomes and story a lot) In FE it was just added to sell more into the new wave of new weebs after anime got popular.
nah i doubt post mystery of emblem hero of light and shadow remake copy growlanser/and langrisser. waifu picking is there since binding blade with roy and his wife shipping mechanic while children mechanic was there since genealogy of the holy war with sigurd and companion 2nd generation. lastly waifu shipping is absent prior langrisser 3 and growlanser .which is PS 2 title.
