I think it has something to do with the crack, but the game works fine without mods. (edit: I DL the update patch but during installation it said this update wasn't available for this version of the game.) Current version: 1.335 I can't update it at all.
Out of this game, Mechwarrior 3, Mechwarrior 4, the Free to Play online one, or the fangame "Mechwarrior Legends," which is the best experience? I've only played 3 and 4, and I like them both equally, for different reasons. I have a sinking feeling this game is shit, so I don't want to waste my time downloading it unless someone knows otherwise.

Find file called "steam_emu.ini", in my case it's located in M:\MechWarrior 5 Mercenaries Heroes of the Inner Sphere\Engine\Binaries\ThirdParty\Steamworks\Steamv147\Win64 Open it with text editor, and find line with UserName=CODEX , change to UserName=yourname. Hope it will help.
There is no link to the 1.0.181 update, I've found it elsewhere, but when I've tried to install it, the setup prgram seems to be blocked at 10% and after 4 hours it still doesn't go on! I've tried to install it twice, then I gave up and canceled the game. Could anyone help me, please?
Battetech is turn-based, MechWarrior is real-time, basically. I really enjoyed Battletech but man, driving your own mechs and shooting by yourself to enemy is awesome, I definitely prefer MechWarrior :)
Because IGG haven't uploaded here an update between first version and version 1.0.805. Somebody here posted link but they deleted it. You need to first install update 1.0.801 then update 1.0.805. Just search it with Google on CODEX site.

Looks that you haven't applied the crack. If you don't know how to do this there's a simple solution: Delete the game and run the installer again. Make sure that you have filled the checkbox with "Copy contents of CODEX directory to installdir". The game will apply crack automatically and you are ready to go :) Same with every update you install.

I'm afraid that I can't help because when we have a problem like "game worked yesterday but tomorrow it stoped working" it may be ANYTHING, really. You could accidentally delete something important or installed something that interferes with the game, I really don't know. And I haven't played this game so it's another problem. Maybe try to reinstall it?

The fact that if you have steam, they're mining your profile data, that they've teamed up with a Chinese company that's known for spying for the Chinese government or the fact that they keep buying up exclusivity deals for games that were going to be released through multiple services?
Downloading this right now, so I don't know how the controls are yet, but with past titles I set the mouse to control the torso, WASD for turning/acceleration/deceleration and never more weapon groups than the number of button my mouse had. There was also a lot of shortcuts in the controls. For example, why have separate buttons for starting up and shutting down when you could have one button for both? It just takes some time to learn and set things the way you like them. It's definitely not a series for everyone though and Mechwarrior has always been on the more complicated side. It's not an FPS. It's not an arcade game. It's a (somewhat) realistic mech combat simulator.
The controls are fairly standard Mech controls - and pretty evolved at that (weapons groups, legs and torso centering, nice clear HUD). The learning curve on the other hand - pretty high. And you definitely need all 10 fingers. And a mouse stuffed with buttons is a bonus. Graphics are fine - nothing special but fairly clean. Awesome effects though : fire,laser,impacts and buildings' real time destruction. Maybe you posted that after a rapid glance and your first mission/tutorial hey ..? Or it's just not for you.

It's exactly the same except the combat is an FPS/TPS instead of TBS. You fly around, take on missions, build reputation, negotiate your payment, and salvage new mechs and weapons from fights. You hire pilots which level up skills as they use them. The UI is about the same as Battletech. It's fun.
I downloaded the torrent and installed it but when I try to start the game I get hit by an error message that Epic could not verify the game. what am I doing wrong?

It starts off so well but by late game it just tears itself apart. Imagine fighting 40 lights/mediums in one mission and they each spawn in as soon as one dies. DOESN'T THAT SOUND FUN?! 🤮
Spoken like someone who hasn't played the game to that point yet. Even the lead developer himself has said they're looking into this. The late-game balance is utterly broken.
Was just about at my wits end with the fucking shadow realm reinforcements lol. Walk up to 4 mech lance assassination group, then have 4 more mechs as well as srm boats spawn behind me, yup. That's cool. Patch is here now though, time to see how these spawn improvements are.
Yeah I'm probably gonna do the same - I'd be curious to see what the Mechwarrior community will do with this. Look at what they did on Battletech ! If they put the same passion on this one we can expect some neat stuff.

Except it is. If Epic really wants to be any sort of competition to Steam then they need a better service. Instead of just acquiring exclusives, they need to focus on improving their shop.
