Kindred Spirits on the Roof didn't interest me.
There, that's my 'defense'. And now, knowing that it's basically a kinetic novel makes me even more sure in my decision not to play it. Thanks.

  1. Never implied that I never heard of kinetic VNs. In fact, I often browsed VNs and blacklisted the 'kinetic' ones.
  2. Normal VNs are also there to tell a story, giving the story choices, among other stuff, is what makes a VN an actual game.
  3. I know exactly what I'm talking about and I'm talking about a type of VNs which are predominantly barely at all enjoyable, because you basically just go through a fucking PowerPoint slideshow in these games.
  4. I'm a 'yuri fan' and really disliking kinetic novels doesn't have anything to do with not being one - learn to gatekeep, scrub.
Just because there is relatively few good yuri novels and overall yuri 'material' of all kind doesn't mean that every 'yuri fan' has to literally consume every yuri product, no matter how trash it could be. Quality over quantity, feggit.

"A kinetic storyline with no choices/branches" aka 'FUCKING GARBAGE'
Read a book/manga or watch a movie or something instead - the experience would be the same.
Stop making non-interactive 'games' and trying to defeat the whole purpose of games, ffs...

Just like there's a crowd for every genre of game...even...mobile games...there's a crowd who like kinetic novels. And as long as there is a demand for them, and enough people like them, they are going to keep getting made.
So, tough luck.

Ebi-hime makes some really good visual novels, especially the ones that contain mystery, try Sweetest Monster or Asphyxia, either way you aren't even paying for the game, so why do you trash it before even trying,

But there are some good kinetic novel you know...
like Narcissu.. VNs are something in the border of literature and games, though I agree it's not a game if it's not interactive.
But still, why limiting some people's creativity...
Writing a book with ilustrations including an audio CD for musics is good, but it would be costly for some people, thus the idea of VN was created.
And maybe a kinetic VNs usually wouldn't have great animations and effects like the action story VNs has, which cannot be done through simple literature, but too hard to do as an animated movie. It backs up the point that VN is a needed existence.
Even though they were mainly used for porn, not all VNs are like that.

well romance is romance it's hard to know what is good and what is bad especially nowadays where kids know about these and worse things way earlier than we had to

There are plenty of romance stories that can be read by kids. This is just the author saying there's no sex. C'mon, don't be a ditz.
