Egs is owned by a Tencent (or smt. else, I don't remember) which is a Chinese company known for gathering their user's private info. and then selling it. There's alot more to know about these fucjers, but I wanted to keep it short :)
The funny(or sad thing depending on how you look at it) is that all these epic exclusives have people come to the Steam forums asking for technical help, or issues with bugs , glitches/feedback etc.All that money they're paying to these Devs ,and they still won't let people review or use forums on EGS.

yeah I think publishers would rather have more share of the money for the development of their game. which is 12% cut when compared to Steam's 30% cut for games published in their platform. so for indie devs I think they'd opt more for a publisher which gives them more share in profits.
