It's a been a while. But here's my experience with the game.
I play a lot of metroidvanias and for me, this was a solid 7 out of 10. This was sitting in my backlog for a few years and I just managed to play through it in light of the sequel's release.
The visuals and the theme are gritty and awesome and the combat is tight enough. However, the game has certain shortcomings which become pronounced when compared to the giants of the genre like Hollow Knight.
I honestly think some of the testers had mislead the devs by convincing them that they had a good foundation for platforming. They really didn't. The movement is what I'd describe as "floaty"; you can't move in precise pixels, rather you slide. And the game tries really hard to keep accurate platforming a big part of the gameplay.
It's a decent game overall. Going into the sequel I hope they've addressed some of the main issues of the first one.
Yeah, I didnt play this the first time around, but the sequel made me want to give it a look. And I agree, the movement mechanics are pretty bad. Also, I don't know about you, but I found myself getting stunlocked in combat and tossed around like a ragdoll until I was dead rather frequently. I thought one of the bosses, the ossuary boss, was just complete bullshit. Entirely possible to just get trapped in the corner and completely destroyed if the boss felt like doing certain attacks repeatedly. No way to avoid damage, no way to escape. Total luck. I know its meant to be punishing, kinda the theme they were going for, but i mean get real, when success depends on a roll of the dice more than skill... Oh yeah, and that necessary movement upgrade that is really cryptic and obtuse to acquire. Bad design.

I feel like this was the sort of game that due to its outrageous aesthetics and theme lured in many first-timers; people who hadn't played that many metroidvanias and naturally couldn't spot the game's serious flaws, hence the "90% very positive" rating.
Oh, and yes, I was having a relatively easy time going through the game and bosses until I found Isidora! My initial reaction was "Aah, so we've spotted the game's BS boss." To me it felt like a cheap knock-off of Hollow Knight's 'Nightmare King Grimm' except that NKG is fully skill-based and Isidora's 2nd phase was heavily RNG focused. As you said, that's straight up faulty design.
And also in terms of exploration, when a good game gives you secret items and quests, they also place hints and clues here and there. You can't just be obtuse for the sake of being obtuse, dude. When I defeated the final boss and inevitably got the bad ending, I decided to check a guide to see what I was missing ... and boy, the most common response to people in my situation was, "make sure to follow a reliable step-by-step guide in your next playthrough or you'll be in for a 3rd one" 😂 meaning, there are things you should just get lucky and stumble upon in a limited time frame by happenstance or you'll lose them that playthrough.
Good news is, I'm about 3 hours into the sequel and it feels a lot better, or at least the platforming is. Hopefully they've improved on all of these issues. We'll see.

this version 2.0.20 have the skeleton ghost and save teleport that appear in the trailer? cuz i played the 2.0.20 version from a russian pack that the new bosses but not the other content.
am i the only one who's browser blocks the download because it says it's dangerous, i triede megaup and mega but it doesn't even give me the change to allow the download, emmediatly deletes it after it finishes, currently trying google drive so i'll see how that goes. EDIT: google drive works fine, i downloaded and played the game without an issue.
Same with me, the weird thing is when you have your steam open it redirect you to purchase the game, it detects that you gave a cracked version. Edit: I found the solution!! After going through all the 3 updates and installing them one after the other, you need to crack the game, the crack is in the UPDATE V1.0.13 folder (The last update patch) it's in a folder Called "PLAZA" copy its content to your game directory and that's that.
Is the file size less than 5 MB? Did you get the file directly, or have you used an exe? If the answer to any of the questions is yes, you downloaded an ad. Please try downloading the files again and make sure you get the correct ones.
Thanks for the game, guys! The files are ok, and if you install the updates in order, the game will work fine. Now a humble opinion. I don't want to start a discussion about this, but just to other people know...: I tought i would love this game, but after playing and being very frustrated because of its shitty control system, i've unninstalled it. The "down attack" hability on a jump (you know, DOWN + X) takes too long to be executed, and sometimes it fails, especially on short heights. When you jump to ladders, you better aim perfectly, because you will fall and fall and fall down lot of times because of the bad control system. It is frustrating. Also the dodge movement is weird, and sometimes it fails, because you can not perform it repeatedly, it is like there is a cooling system, but not shown. I almost buy it because it is a Metroidvania, and because of its pixel look. I just wanted to try it before. Greetings, AcK
Not gonna lie, you are very stupid to stop playing such an amazing game because it has "shitty controls", The controls of the game were supposed to be like this to add to its difficulty, having like 0.2 sec cooldown on your dodge ain't killing you because the enemies are not fast and being mad at the game because 1 move doesnt work correctly, thats just peak stupidity.

Making the controls shitty on purpose to make the game harder is not only idiotic but it's not true difficulty, it's like asking you to play the game blindfolded
It's not really stupid, he has a point (But I wouldn't quit the game though) . there are some of the stages that really kill of the energy when you're steam rolling through platforms and enemies. Side scroller castlevania-esq games are great because they're very smooth in both controls and platform mechanics. Blasphemy is good in many ways, but it's ruined by some of the minor stuff that breaks immersion and quickly turns into frustration. Exmp: The game teaches you that you're able to hang whenever you fall short in your jumps, but there are some exceptions such as moving platforms that you're unable to do it. Calling such mechanics and controls a way to make it "difficult" is unnecessary. The bosses, platforming, and puzzles are what makes this game difficult. If you wanted an even difficult setting, then they should have just made a "Hellmode" difficulty, where everything can literally just one shot you. It's possible to implement this since you are indeed able to beat this game without taking damage, all the bosses and minions have patterned move sets that you're able to avoid.

damn the steam comments were right the 1.0.12 patch made this game more casual because some people cant git gud what a bunch of losers as a dark souls player who like harder things, i am quite dissapointed with the developers for listening these amateurs
thanks for the info bro, i downloaded this thing from here before it went "digital deluxe edition",and i dont have double jump (not in the beginning at least, i havent had time to play it since i downloaded it) although, if thats just the thing they fixed, it doesnt sound that bad, after all, there is enjoyable challenge in videogames which derives from skill based stuff (mainly combat), and, there is no skill to a perfect jump which derives in falling to a OHKO pit which derives to just backtracking which derives to just time loss in real life, which is bad for QA and not acceptable in this day and age (a form of artificial difficulty, if you may) still, i'm keeping it, i played a little and didnt find anything unfair, actually, until i played it was fairly easy compared to other games i've played of the same and other genres anyways, i was just wondering what was new and if i was missing something. they added a lame 0.5 mid air jump because the losers cant git gud doing jumps and some parts now have small platforms to avoid falling to the spikes stupid casuals

thats the point of this games, to have good reflexes and be fucking good on it turning a hard game into a casual totally ruins it just imagine what would happen if they turn more casual dark souls 3 or sekiro and about animes current animes are shit compared to the old ones from the 80-90s
Okay fine, there could have been a setting to turn on "casual mode" but turning a hard game into a casual one does not ruin it for most people. It even brings beginners into the game which could mean the game will sell more. Not a lot of people can be good at the game or have good reflexes. Playing a game for players that just started can be extremely frustrating. Games shouldn't be like that. It would be better for games to be both hard and easy with a difficulty setting. Also, why are current anime's shit compared to old ones? I want to end this argument. If you are going to reply, please only reply to me about anime.

I agree with 【Ⓒ】 on the making the game easier like at least there should be an OPTION to choose for example if you had people who like 1 and people who like 2 if you put only 1 or 2 only those people will play it if you have BOTH then BOTH people will play it making it better as a game but I also agree with you that 【Ⓒ】 was a dick lol
I had very high expectations for this game, and the devs delivered, but also didn't. I'ts overwhelmingly beautiful and dark, the story is rich and the designs are incredible. On the other hand, gameplay is kinda dull and there are some very annoying mechanics. It's a great experience, but not so great a game.

just confirming the recent update improved the loading times and added 2 reskins however i lost my save but meh this worth it so no more whinings if you still have problems, its not the game its your pc oh and if you want to make this game a little more smaller delete the goodies folder
there is also the way windows 10 software shrinks folder sizes natively, which reduced mine from the GB it was to 200-300mb aproximately (it's one of the best results i've seen, whereas some games/programs don't get reduced shit this one was a huuge shrink, and 0 gameplay affected) also, reskins? hmm.... better loading times? hmm...they werent thaaat bad.... nah, i'll stick to my version, the trade offs for the worse difficulty made for noobs are not worth it
Do you know if you lost your save because of incompatibility of the game rev. , or wether the crack of this version has the save in a different folder of the older one ? It could be just a matter of moving your save
already tried what you said and it seems to be not compatible anyways doesnt matter didnt get so far, i ended killing a boss with a skull horse/goat face before updating
here i am back to call bullshit on both of you on locallow/the kitchen studios (or whatever i dont remember and im on mobile right now) there is the folder of the previous save, and then when you begin playing deluxe another one gets created when you save. (which i installed to a different location for precaution, but i think it was unnecessary) So just copy the contents of the previous save file to the new folder just created and voila works like a charm(i recognized it by date, i cant tell you how to recognize which is which)

now i didnt do something that probably its my fault try make it yourself 1.-make a copy of the savedgame folder and put it somewhere else 2.- download the updated game somewhere else 3.- move the updated savedgame folder and put the old one if that works then i will know what happened try it plz
A weird thing I'm experiencing during the gameplay. Sometimes, I cross a part of the stage, but this one is not filled with a colored square on the map (instead, it leaves an empty square in the map). I know this is not a crack issue, I just want to know if someone is experiencing the same thing. Apart from that, the game runs great.
Unfortunately IGG your hoodlum (?i believe it was?) crack didnt work, got redirected to steam. Eventually downloaded the game elsewhere and which also included codex crack apart from hoodlum so i choose that instead seems to be working fine. Your installer initially didnt work on my win7. Bunch of missing msvcp_140, x_3 something and 0x000007b bullshit so I had to download all three of them one by one manually and placed them in folder with the launcher. After that didnt want to test my luck without autocracking if there was any, was just happy that your installer finally worked. But like I said, didnt crack properly. Also Blasphemous is incredibly slow on loading screens, takes so long to start aswell. Idk the official game might be the same way.
I started the game and I was wondering why I was hearing stuff but not seeing anything so I watched a playthrough of it on Youtube and in that same place they had cutscenes. Cut scenes don't work for me apparently. The screen is just black instead of there being an actual cut scene. Does anybody know how to fix this because I'm not going to play it if the cut scenes don't work.

Depends on your windows. With Blasphemous I had to place dll files in the game folders with the game launcher, in my case installer of the game. I used like three of them getting different error each time. Im saying its viable to download dll from internet, just dont place it in windows system files, but in the game folder and better backup the old files that are there if it doesnt work or atleast if the error message changes, thats a good result. Thats all. Rest sure to find on Microsoft support or just need to serch your error message in youtube for tutorials. In the end I found out that my hard drive was broken, so if you have these problems frequently, you might even check your RAM and Mother Board.
Well, i asked them, there's no need to assume. But good observation. It seems they're running window's vista/xp so, maybe 2 ram with a pentium processor. That would be why they're having an error.

You know it the beginning area where you first get up/start? I get up and go to the right into the door way and i get a black screen. I can't continue past that area for some reason.
go to C:\Users*****\AppData\LocalLow\TheGameKitchen, and delete the all in there, recently yesterday when friend was playing, he cant pass from the title screen cuz stuck in black screen, i re-install the game a keep happening, then i copy my save folder and delete the originaland the game works but dont have any saves, then from the copy i only move the save file of my friend and he continue his campain.... hope it helps, looks like the game have some corruption files, not gamebreaking but still annoying to solve.
looks like not, i already clear the game and only see in the extra menu the 2 costumes, 1 for clear the game and the other is for getting all the bones.

the save data files are in this folder: C:\Users\Administrador\AppData\LocalLow\TheGameKitchen easy way to get there is press WIN+R and type APPDATA, maybe ur windows is using "user" security bullshit, iam a person that never use antivirus in my PC for games and always using ADMINISTRATOR account, check google to enable admin account or give the game admin propertis, sorry my bad english hope this help
the bosses are easy (if u already play games like demon crest, pitfall and non rpg castlevania) just press evade when attack coming, it have invincible frames, only focus on getting the slide attack skill is pretty broken cuz do alot of dmg and some bosses can get dmg if u reach the room attacking before the cut scene. in ascale of difficulty this game is like 5/10, old snes a nes and genesis games are harder than this, but still funny to play and to cover all stuff take time, since the still no guides and or faqs
Repacks (I think so don't take it for granted) are just smaller uploads. Like better "zipped". So in this example, if you already had the game, you don't need this. If it had something extra it would probably mention it. After a bit of googling, a repack might also have languages other than English removed to save size, so you should have that in mind if you wanted a different language setting.
the installer say that wanna install en C:\games, and say that dont have permission even with admin, to fix this create the C:\games manually and right click "game folder" and give then permission (check all the boxes) and apply, then run installer.
I used to have the same problem. Try to turn your antivirus off, then run the setup as admin, and select "C:" as the install folder. Then try to run the .exe as admin. It worked for me.
While the gameplay works perfectly fine (smooth 60 fps), the cinematics have some weird behaviour : you can't see anything on screen (except a frame or two) but the sound continues to play perfectly. Anyone has an idea how to fix this ? (I'm playing with my GPU and V-Sync disabled)
Windows defender could have hidden settings which needs disabling if you use that. Try isolating a place on your drive that only you will access manually and install the game there. Try updating game drivers. Have to say though, game has become kinda boring and slow. Each to their own of cause.
It didn't work with x360ce for me. But then I added the game to steam as a non-steam game and launched it from there and the controller worked for me. And you also have to do this
Same here with x360ce. In all this years this is the 1st game that i have encounter problem and not to work with x360ce. I manage somehow to make it work with JoyToKey but i will try within the Steam folder. Nice idea.
The game is quite fair in the fights if you are wary and cautious with the enemy patterns (wich are quite predictable), but a slight timing error in movement squash you into spikes and pits..
i would compare Death's gambit to S&S. pretty simialr in terms of how the visuals are animated ( both use paper doll-esque motion tweening ) and simialr gameplay values, archetypes, stats., etc. This game plays more like Valfaris.

I had similar problem here with the game Control (2019), which tried to run vc redist installer, so I solved it by deleting the folder, but this one has the opposite problem.
Nevermind, my vc redist files are completely broken. Had to download like two files and put them in with the setup folder manually myself, even though I have the newest version of vc redist. Game can run but then it crashes before loading the menu(?). Time to switch to Mac, maybe it doesnt have these kind of problems. P.S.: I even bought the official Windows 7 this time :(.

Logout from your profile and login with the administrator profile, or create a new profile with admin rights and try it with it. Or you dont have access and another admin has locked you out.
OK. Right click on the .exe or the shortcut (try the shortcut first). Click Properties, go to Security, Edit the Permissions, and give your User profile all of the permissions. Try to run the game, and get back to me on how that went. You might also have to clear it with your antivirus.
Shieet i can't play the game with Joystick. The game itself don't register my joystick nor the magic of x360c_x64 can help in this situation. It would be such a waste to play this masterpiece with Keyboard.
there is a little app that its in alpha stage but it worked where x360ce didnt: I have used it for some time but requires other drivers to achieve the goal of hidding fisical controllers and create virtual ones. https://github.com/Snoothy/UCR I use my dualshock2 to play with a virtual xbox 360 controller.
There's a free tool called Joy2Key, just google it. It reads your joystick and outputs the keyboard presses, so you can play with your joystick even if it can't read it directly. Very handy.
waste you say and you call yourself a pc gamer? true pc gamers dont use shitty controllers unless its something like dark souls 1 2 and 3 i have xbox pad here but only use it for games with problems similar to dark souls
indeed the controls are like dark souls but luckily this is a platform game bind them in this way and everything will be fine Z = attack X = jump C = Parry V = Ranged attack Shift = Dodge leave everything by default now if you excuse me i am going to the store to buy a kool aid i got thirsty after watching the first boss cutscene again
Is someone having problems with the cutscenes this is the only problem that is happening with me the cutscenes sometimes is just a black screen but the subtitles and voice are still there or just appear a static scene... if someone has a solution i would be grateful
That happened to me when I ran the game from "Integrated graphics".. if you have the option to force it to run with your GPU instead of integrated, that might fix it. Doesn't hurt to update your drivers too.
I can't get it to work, it says 'Cannot create game folder (Admin rights?)' but I am running as admin and made folder exceptions so my anti virus doesn't mess with it.
Same here, this new interface won't let me do shit, couldn't change path or install because of the same problem "(Admin rights?)" despite obviously having admin rights. Anyway, you can bypass those two by creating the folder yourself, then just click install and move it after if you want
The big middle finger for me, is the 'pixel perfect' setting. Blasphemous is designed to be 'pixel perfect at 720x480 and so it scales up properly. Death's Gambit is not like this at all - it's designed for 1080p, mixes different pixel densities, and it scales to fill the screen, so all the sharp pixels have 'shimmering'. And at lower resolutions like 720p, you can barely read any of the text. So fuck that game.
Man, the difference isn't only the sprite animations.. The physics and handling of movement is SO much better.. Fuck, death's gambit felt like a flash game.
This game works and the hitbox make sense, in death gambit the game is broken, the controls are very bad and their hitbox are broken. Simply put, this game surpasses death gambit in everything. Salt and Sanctuary is another game like these, I recommend it, only that the salt map is horrible, you get lost and everything looks almost the same
Salt and Sanctuary has a reaaaallly heavy, dark, depressing atmosphere like no other game. Quite cool. Only wished the human character models were more serious looking, it would make the game perfect.
i played salt and santuary and took me quite time to finish it totally hard just like dark souls death gambit finish it but gave me a terrible bad taste

UPDATE: nevermind, I solve it, if you have the same issue, go to the shortcut and toggle admin both in advance options and compatibilty, plus when running the game, alt+enter to toggle windowed also helps. sadly, cant play with generic usb gamepad, use xpadder/joytokey and the cutscenes freezes (but the subttitles works fine oddly enough)

Hell's bells, pure fire. Playing this on the Switch is damn satisfying so far. For 25 bucks it's worth every bit of scratch. Thanks IGG. Once I finish it, I will go another round for free on PC. This game deserves the audience it has whether you curse or praise this title for it's masochistic approach.

Oh, and yes, I was having a relatively easy time going through the game and bosses until I found Isidora! My initial reaction was "Aah, so we've spotted the game's BS boss."
To me it felt like a cheap knock-off of Hollow Knight's 'Nightmare King Grimm' except that NKG is fully skill-based and Isidora's 2nd phase was heavily RNG focused. As you said, that's straight up faulty design.
And also in terms of exploration, when a good game gives you secret items and quests, they also place hints and clues here and there. You can't just be obtuse for the sake of being obtuse, dude.
When I defeated the final boss and inevitably got the bad ending, I decided to check a guide to see what I was missing ... and boy, the most common response to people in my situation was, "make sure to follow a reliable step-by-step guide in your next playthrough or you'll be in for a 3rd one" 😂 meaning, there are things you should just get lucky and stumble upon in a limited time frame by happenstance or you'll lose them that playthrough.
Good news is, I'm about 3 hours into the sequel and it feels a lot better, or at least the platforming is. Hopefully they've improved on all of these issues. We'll see.

Edit: I found the solution!! After going through all the 3 updates and installing them one after the other, you need to crack the game, the crack is in the UPDATE V1.0.13 folder (The last update patch) it's in a folder Called "PLAZA" copy its content to your game directory and that's that.
Did you get the file directly, or have you used an exe?
If the answer to any of the questions is yes, you downloaded an ad.
Please try downloading the files again and make sure you get the correct ones.
The files are ok, and if you install the updates in order, the game will work fine.
Now a humble opinion. I don't want to start a discussion about this, but just to other people know...:
I tought i would love this game, but after playing and being very frustrated because of its shitty control system, i've unninstalled it.
The "down attack" hability on a jump (you know, DOWN + X) takes too long to be executed, and sometimes it fails, especially on short heights.
When you jump to ladders, you better aim perfectly, because you will fall and fall and fall down lot of times because of the bad control system. It is frustrating.
Also the dodge movement is weird, and sometimes it fails, because you can not perform it repeatedly, it is like there is a cooling system, but not shown.
I almost buy it because it is a Metroidvania, and because of its pixel look. I just wanted to try it before.

although, if thats just the thing they fixed, it doesnt sound that bad, after all, there is enjoyable challenge in videogames which derives from skill based stuff (mainly combat), and, there is no skill to a perfect jump which derives in falling to a OHKO pit which derives to just backtracking which derives to just time loss in real life, which is bad for QA and not acceptable in this day and age (a form of artificial difficulty, if you may)
still, i'm keeping it, i played a little and didnt find anything unfair, actually, until i played it was fairly easy compared to other games i've played of the same and other genres

on locallow/the kitchen studios (or whatever i dont remember and im on mobile right now) there is the folder of the previous save, and then when you begin playing deluxe another one gets created when you save. (which i installed to a different location for precaution, but i think it was unnecessary)
So just copy the contents of the previous save file to the new folder just created and voila works like a charm(i recognized it by date, i cant tell you how to recognize which is which)
then again, even if it doesn't work, i think i might have to reconsider not updating, since if i don't i won't be able to play the dlc one it gets out, right?

1.-make a copy of the savedgame folder and put it somewhere else
2.- download the updated game somewhere else
3.- move the updated savedgame folder and put the old one

Your installer initially didnt work on my win7. Bunch of missing msvcp_140, x_3 something and 0x000007b bullshit so I had to download all three of them one by one manually and placed them in folder with the launcher. After that didnt want to test my luck without autocracking if there was any, was just happy that your installer finally worked. But like I said, didnt crack properly.
Also Blasphemous is incredibly slow on loading screens, takes so long to start aswell. Idk the official game might be the same way.

In the end I found out that my hard drive was broken, so if you have these problems frequently, you might even check your RAM and Mother Board.
It seems they're running window's vista/xp so, maybe 2 ram with a pentium processor. That would be why they're having an error.

in ascale of difficulty this game is like 5/10, old snes a nes and genesis games are harder than this, but still funny to play and to cover all stuff take time, since the still no guides and or faqs

After a bit of googling, a repack might also have languages other than English removed to save size, so you should have that in mind if you wanted a different language setting.

Help anyone? Downloaded from Link Blasphemous REPACK-HOODLUM TORRENT, something with my vc redist? I had similar problem here with the game Control (2019), which tried to run vc redist installer, so I solved it by deleting the folder, but this one has the opposite problem.
Game can run but then it crashes before loading the menu(?). Time to switch to Mac, maybe it doesnt have these kind of problems.

UPDATE: nevermind, I solve it, if you have the same issue, go to the shortcut and toggle admin both in advance options and compatibilty, plus when running the game, alt+enter to toggle windowed also helps.
sadly, cant play with generic usb gamepad, use xpadder/joytokey and the cutscenes freezes (but the subttitles works fine oddly enough)
