I'm getting this error "error: 3303725833 : 2123 failed to load shaders, reverting to fixed function" I am running this on my AMD GPU (as one can in the 2020 version). I have updated my GPU drivers. But still the same error. I verified the files integrity again and it showed 1 bad file (This bad file didn't show up in the first integrity check). The file is hlm.ini and the checker said "CRC missing" How do I fix this?

In my case I don't see a single bug or error when I installed and played it and the worst case is I installed it in my trashy old PC and it works with no problems I want to thank igg-games so much XD. have you tried the pressing F3 in game for times x3 FPS, the game is locked in 15FPS so if its not in the speedboost mode its pretty slow, for manual access (Set Speedboost from Available to Selected.) ESC button>Boosts>Speed Boost (x3):Selected For additional FPS set the ingame settings by pressing ESC button>Game Option>System> Antialiasing:Off Display mode:Borderless Window
To anyone who hasn't played FFVIII before or if you just want it on PC, I recommend the old Steam version over this Remaster. It has fewer bugs and is moddable.

It's a really really crappy port. Not sure how to fix all the stuff they messed up. Just look at the Steam reviews. It's one of the most poorly received Square releases ever.
this is by far my most favorite Final Fantasy however I'm honestly sad that they only improved the models for a game that supposedly lost it's source code? yet the Backgrounds clash with the new models and instead of giving us options of 4:3 or 16:9 or whatever they supposedly rebuilt the game how it originally was but with new character models and yet did not even fix the baked NPC in certain backgrounds like Cid....
use pcsx2 with DX12 graphics and boost textures and resolution you will get better result than this game... i'm really disappointed. (expect for some character models)

inside the game look up the controls. it tells u. since im using an xbox one controller for me its left trigger + clicking the left analog stick. It doesnt give u all spells but makes the current spells u have at 100.
when u get to the select screen of "new game,continue and credits", press F9 and it will be at the bottom right corner 2nd last option called "system menu"

I had copy pasted the crack folder. I can play but after a few moment like transitioning between scenes, it will cause this error. Problems starts during invasion of Dollet
Firstly thanks for helping. It reduced the frequency of crash but it still happen once in a while during screen transitions + 3x speed. The only thing that permanently helped me was pausing onedrive sync. Since then 0 crashes.
The real question is: "can this version be modded too?" If it can, then, potentially, it could become the best version of FF8, maybe? (even the PC version of https://igg-games.com/chrono-trigger-235113192-free-download.html got much nicer, thanks to modders, although it was a wreck.) If it can't, then it's useless. I already have a much better experience with emulators.

Yes, i always delete after extracting. :) And yes, mostly. My Windows 7 is a special retail version, which makes it impossible to download upgrades like the Windows 10 upgrade (automatic and manual). But that shouldn`t have anything to do with that, since there was never a Problem with it. Graphic Card maybe, but every time i upgraded my graphic card software i needed a new monitor...soooo. :) Naah, maybe i just need to install it again with admin rights. I always forget that. :)
for anyone who cares this "remastered" version has a couple more cheats over the previous steam release FF8 all items (except important ones), all GFs, GF max level, all cards (except a few?), max gil, x3 speed, disable encounters, and always max HP/ATB/specials, might have been more i forgot about. chocobo world minigame is GONE, apparently Rinoa gets an ability to make for this somehow (haven't played far enough) fights are still 15FPS (as it was on PS1 and original PC versions) x3 speed makes it slightly less annoying, still 4:3 for same reason oh and game timers don't go faster on x3 so ifrit cave can be done under 2 mins with no encounters and x3 speed for example, prob faster if you used every damn cheat at once. if you want to beat FF8 super fast with cheats sure it's worth it
It doesn't have All Gf, it has All GF ABILITY. You still need to get the Gf's manually. Add to that max magic but you have to use it everytime you get a new magic spell. also GF max level and all GF ability have to be used again everytime you get a new GF
Where have you downloaded a 5 GB RAR? I opened all the available links and they all show that the RAR is 2.24 GB only. If you're referring to the "Storage: 5 GB available space", that's directly copied from the Steam Store page.

Yeah, this is kind of underwhelming... They've redone all the models, and they look incredible... but they haven't even touched the backgrounds. They look like blurry shit, just like the original release. At least I'm sure modders will take care of that.
What happens alot of times with these old pre-rendered games is that they end up losing the orig renders, or the orig renders were rendered in low resolution to begin with (it is a PS1 game afterall). So to get high rez backgrounds, they would probably have to do them from scratch, and they probably dont think its worth it money wise for their sales projections for this game.
