WHY DOES THIS REQUIRE 4 gb ram when AOE3 requires 2gb? definitely a revamped version shouldnt mean this much memory requirement.. especially the screenshots are saying the same thing
"this much memory requirement" Every office computer has 8GB ram today. Some devs even recommend 16 - 20 GB ram for their games, your setup surely isn't up to date. And yes, the DE version should need 4 GB Ram cause the textures are now HD + there are a lot of new animations which all get loaded at the same time from your ram.
That's the reason AOE 1 DE never gained much traction. Basically an attempt by Microsoft to extract money from nostalgia. AOE 2 DE actually has content, that's the reason people love it.

The multiplayer of these games has too many bugs and exploits or is not balanced at all (I'm looking to you, Romans and the British.) This is also the reason why there was no real content provided by youtubers/streamers. People like T90 and SOTL surely attracted a lot of people to aoe2. The problem is, the aoe1 and aoe3 problems are not really fixable through a DE edition. AoE1 has that terrible pathfinding which would need a complete overhaul to the point where it is a complete redesign or remake. And AoE3 has the shipment + leveling problem which is absolutly not noob friendly and also not balanced at all. They'd need to remove that for AoE3 to be able to compete with the AoE2 multiplayer.
Any fix for the microsoft store issue. As soon as game opens up, it takes you directly to microsoft store. Pretty sure it has something to do with the new Build 1903
i cant even open the game. when i try to open the game its start open microsoft store. after i update the game, im missing simple network library-x64-release.dll apparently. can anyone help me?
Yeah checked all the solutions in the video and none of them work. Microsoft probs patched the issue so now it directly takes you to the windows store when you try the cracked version :/

I downloaded with torrent and installed the original version and the updates 28218 & 28529. The problem is: when i open the shortcut created on windows' desktop, a popup windows appears, saying: "You need a new app in order to open this link steam" and giving me the option to look for this app at windows store. What should I do? Is there any way to fix this, so I can finally play? Thx.
No you dont, the games here on IGG come with a steam.dll and steamapi.dll file that help bypass steam program so you can play it... so you dont need to buy it if you download steam to make it work

After waiting over 1 year, I can finally play this game. But this release requires the CODEX Update "28218". Then, it can be played even in a VMware 15 virtual machine :-) Good work CODEX
If you must have multiplayer, then just buy the game for $20 on Steam. It's a good deal considering the game is timeless and you can spend hundreds of hours just fighting against the computer AI on various difficulty levels.

why 10 gigs? obviously coz u gonna be playing it on win10 whose download size is 5gigs. In 2001, u played the 400MB version on win xp which had a size of 500MB on a comp which had i am guessing had 256MB RAM. Now u probably have a comp with 16GB RAM. Also in 2001, u had a 40GB HDD, now u probably have 2TB HDD. If you still play 400MB games, when will your 2TB HDD be ever full? Would u still have a need for a larger capacity HDD? And don't let me get started on GPU.

So you are using win10 on your laptop which previously had win 8.1. Also the win10 came with your tablet. I would say your laptop cannot handle win10. I think its better you use win8.1 as your laptop is running good without any problem with it.

i can understand why u don't wanna upgrade from win 7 to win 10 if you live somewhere in China. I was also hung up on win 7. But I did the switch to win10 two years back and initially I was not happy as I missed the win7 start menu. But I installed 7 sidebar on win10 and moved on. 2years down the line, now I can say win10 better than win7. To be honnest a lot of people are affraid that there is not optimalisation and bla bla and this will not work and that will not work at win 10 but its actually not true, at the begining it was true there was some programs / games that was not working but its all fixed now so there is no need to be worried about that. And as someone wrote you here above its still possible to upgrade win 7 to win 10 .. Microsoft is actually pushing it really a lot and they did in the past cause they wanna make united OS as Apple have. So is this the latest 'update 11 patch' version of the game? I know the game has redone graphics but 20GB is huge for this game. The hardware requirements are surprisingly hefty as well for such an old game. I love AOE and will play AOE4 when it's released. I don't know if I'll play 1, 2, or 3 too much, because these classic games are timeless, and may take up all my free time if I let them. I just love the random map against the AI computer. If I were stranded on an island and only had one game to play for the rest of my life, it would probably be an AOE game.
Yeah, especially since Age of Empires 4 is coming out eventually and will require Windows 10 undoubtedly. Still, it's better than Apple sucking people into their ecosystem and people being scared to change to Android because their iPhone connects to their iPad, which connects to their macbook and everything is bound together.
I saw an interview with the AI programmer saying the new AI doesn't cheat anymore. I used to watch replays and noticed the AI cheating as well on harder difficulties.
Starcraft was never better. They were both top-tier classic strategy games. Perhaps you preferred the sci-fi setting of Starcraft or the fast-paced gameplay. Perhaps you never gave the game a fair chance? Starcraft is faster and more aggressive and if you don't expand to the second resource base quickly, you lose by default (because the AI or human opponent will control the map from then on, whereas AOE lets you turtle, boom, or rush. Some people prefer the cozy setting of the AOE games.
In case you didn't noticed, the screenshots are wide-screen....and the game textures are brilliant 😂 Perhaps you should look up "age of empires 1" to see the galactic difference between then and now.
It's possible to play AoE1 in widescreen mode, using the patch UPatch_HD_1.1-R4. But yeah, of course, graphics are still very different. I like the original pixel art, though.
I was thinking the same, when I saw that it was split into 3 parts. The original was a few hundred MB. Even with the updated graphics there is no way that this is 10 GB.

Ive played that game a lot about 20 years ago. It was breakthrough. Now, mechanics and animations are so outdated, that its really painful. Only for Hardcore RTS players.
You mean alternatives in RTS genre probably. It depends what you like, how old game are you "prepered" :) to play. Best will be to wait for Age of Empires IV, Warcraft III: Reforged and Praetorians - HD Remaster. Now there is Gamescom, on which they should announce that games.
