The controls feel awful for some reason. Maybe it's designed with a controller in mind, it feels like my character hopelessly sticks to walls like a drunk fly smothered in superglue. The melee attacks don't follow your direction, but the way you're aiming, which feels very counter-intuitive, and it's very easy to lose track of the direction you're facing because the character sprite does follow your direction, and the cursor is small and gets lost whenever there's more than three things going on in the screen. The hitboxes for melee attacks, at least for the character I've played so far, also feel absolutely awful. The VFX will connect with enemies but I won't be actually hitting them... Melee in general feels pretty floaty and lacks feedback.
The shooting is... ok. It's the way to go if you want to progress in the game. Limited ammo is a bit of a pain but so far ammo drops have been plentiful.
I don't like the itemization one bit. Most of the items I've seen so far add dumb or very situational secondary effects, like having a bit of extra defense while jumping, or having a 25% fire damage bonus if your fire resistance is higher than X, which it won't be for a long while because very few items with straight up stats drop. The guns have some remotely interesting items, like adding a bounce or reducing damage but adding an extra projectile, but even then most of it just doesn't feel very unique or like it affects the gameplay and your playstyle in a significant way. You also always keep your items post-death, which is... a strange decision, to say the least, and possibly the culprit of the items feeling so shitty.
This brings me to meta-progression, which also feels quite bad. You have a huuuuge tree of locked out items, passive & active skills. Which means, most content is gated at first and you have to grind your way to unlocking it. That's no good for a roguelike, which relies on having good replayability. Plus, there's three different currencies you need to unlock stuff, and prices get real high real fast... Oof.
Overall, I'm gonna give this game a few more tries, see if anything clicks. I might update the review in a few days if things turn out to get better. Otherwise, it's probably not worth your time.

The controls work well for kb/m, attacks are supposed to follow your mouse; maybe there should be pointer options but idk, this is how a pc platformer should function imo. Also, meta progression is the point of most roguelites, many see that as a fun mechanic as there are entire genres built around it . ofc if you don't like that kind of stuff than you won't enjoy it.

Melee attacks do NOT follow the mouse at all. They go either left or right, depending on where the cursor is, and they freak out if the cursor is very close to the character, which is one of the issues I've had and recently realized it was due to the short distance. And the movement and controls overall are not great, they lack a lot of polish and weight, believe me, this isn't how a good platformer should function.
Meta progression is fine, but in this game it is awfully done. Rogue Legacy was one of, if not the first, roguelike games to have a fleshed out meta progression, and even with its faults and shortcomings it's leagues ahead of this games'.

Going left or right depending on where the pointer is, is normal and intended. I've played a ton of the more popular platformers on PC and this doesn't stand out as any better or worse than most. The same is the case with it's rogue lite elements.

You don't understand what I said. I said it freaks out if the cursor is too close, and starts switching from left to right, even if the cursor is solidly on the right.
I've played far more games than most people have, because I study them, and this stands as a below average platformer, and an awful roguelite.

I understand, I just don't have those issues.

Hm, fair enough. I guess it bugged out for me then.

Looks nice. :3
Games with "procedurally-generated" levels become repetitive too quickly, though.
But it does look cool, so I shall test it. (>3<)
