install the mods you want in this directory: "Documents\Klei\OxygenNotIncluded\mods\local" you'll notice the "local" folder doesn't exist, so just make it yourself, then dump all your mods there, and they have to be extracted, which also includes extracting the "mod_publish_data_file.zip" zipfile

Im guessing you are on windows. Also Ive mainly done it manually.
So first go to your "Documents" folder which should be in "Quick access" by default, in the file explorer.
Then you should find a "Klei" folder. If not then open the game and create a new world (basically just play the game a bit).
Once you are in the Klei folder, navigate to "OxygenNotIncluded" and then "mods".
In mods create a "Local" folder. (basically inside Local there should be a folder with a mod's files in it; example directory: /mods/Local/modFolder/modFiles
Copy the url of your workshop mod and paste it into the text field on the steamworkshopdownloader website
Then a green link should appear, click on it and it should download a rar file
Copy the contents of the rar file into the folder that you made inside of "Local" that was mentioned in step 4, example directory: /Local/queueForSinks/queueForSinksFiles
why would you do that? there's no need to delete "kplayerprefs.yaml", that comment was 3 months ago, just install the game thru CODEX and make sure you tick the 'copy contents of CODEX directory to installdir'.

You'd better get used to this, or just give up on trying to use cracked games entirely. IGG has a reputation to protect. If they participated in proliferating a virus or malware, even by accident, a lot of people would stop trusting them, and all of this would fall apart. And for what? If we had money to steal, we wouldn't be pirating games.

You're mixing files from different "distros"... That's not a good idea. It'll lead most of the time to errors. Follow the procedure: Download and install fro the link provided above then install the updates in the right order. It will work fine.

Why you should loose your saves? Use google, find save files location, save it. As i said, for 399090, you need this version from this page, plus the updates. It doesn't matter what version you have from before, not gonna work the updates with them.

open the ISO file with winrar (or any zip/rar opener) in there you will see a CODEX file, open it up again and it will contain a folder named OxygenNotIncluded_Data.. copy it and paste it to your game's directory (your game folder) replace anything when asked and there you go, it should work when you launch the game :)
I did exactly that, the weird thing was that when I copied the codex file into the game folder it never said anything about replacing the files. it's really weird...
Usually the language file has .po as ending (as example:string.po): 1.copy it to the oxygennotincluded_data\StreamingAssets\String-Folder,there you have to switch it with other language. 2. change your language.po to strings_preinstalled_ru_klei.po(this would be russian in the options but after the change it wlll be your language). 3.choose russian in game-options and it will take your language instead. (just change the name but put the preinstalled files in backup-folder if you like),thats it. There are pre-installed languages,you have to switch with one of them.Very easy.hope it helps This tip is for those who dont want use steam to get the languages. The game isn't Big enough to separate the Updates. You have to Download the game again. I recommend to put the NEW files in a new Folder instead replacement of the installed one. Be Sure you saved your savegame Folder if the game doesn't use the "User/Documents/" folder

Mods! Bois, I went down the rabbit hole and figured out how to install mods. Firstly: How to download them from steam? http://steamworkshop.download/ Boom. You'll need to extract the file (and then extract again) until you've got a folder with loose files. Next, where to put them. Go to: \Documents\Klei\OxygenNotIncluded\mods This is not where you put mods. You're not done just yet. You need to create a sub-folder in here, call it "local". Chuck your mods in local. Now? Start the game. Final step, you're now at the main menu. One of the buttons on the main menu will say "mods". Click it. You'll see a list of the mods you've chucked in there. Click the box next to it so there's a check mark. Now, click the close button. It will ask you to restart - do so. Good job, you've done it.
No. Your files need to be in a folder, and shouldn't be in a zip. I see you have some files in there, but they aren't in a folder.. Doesn't matter what you name it, but your files for each mod need to have their own folder. Ex. "uselessmodname" folder in local holds the loose files for your "http://mod_publish_data_file_3.zip" mod, then zip can then be deleted.

reinstall, in codex setup check box "copy contents of CODEX" or somethin. Make sure to delete Oxygen not included folders in DOCUMENTS before reinstall
So I downloaded this and opened it to see if it would take me to the steam page, it didn't. I thought, ok good, I don't have to move things around. But when I try to make a world it just says that the game crashed... Do I still need to move something around in the files to make the game work properly?

i would say dont risk it and take the save files out by going into Documents/Klei/OxygenNotIncluded/save_files and take out whatever is important and then put it back in after the update
Quick tutorial for everyone: Download the base game, Open the iso, run setup. Download ALL updates, open the update folder in them, run setup in all the folders, starting with the oldest update, moving to the newer one. Once their all installed, goto the last update file, open the CODEX folder, copy http://OxygenNotIncluded.data, paste the folder into the game files, replace all, and run the game!

I updated to the newest version, and I still get sent to the Steam Store, idk whats wrong with it Edit: ACTUALLY GUYS I DIDN'T FOLLOW THE LAST STEP AND YOU GUYS SHOULD TOO So goto the last update, open the CODEX folder. Inside there is a file called OxygenNotIncluded.Data, copy it, and paste it into the game folder. Replace all files, and it should work!

This is not complicated. Once you learn how to install games and crack, how to install update and crack, you'll know every iso install. Only need few stuff for every game. Microsoft NET.Framework, Microsoft XNA Framework,Microsoft Visual C++, OpenAL, nothing more. And of course updated drivers on the pc. You need these for any "extract and play" game as well. Not easy make that rar version as you think, and tell me why would they bother with it if here is a working codex version? Just plus work for a nothing
they are too lazy for the rar version i requested rar and they said sorry mate we only have codex so codex is what u will get. it prolly takes at most 2 mins to make a rar version. just take all the shit from the game cuz they have the games and turn into a rar just like they do with the codex
that the thing, the rar version was here first. the stuff you listed (libraries, i guess?) are not things an average user will know to deal with. anyway, they are probably come with the operating system, so that does not really affect the choice. in the compression and decompression steps (into ISO, and others), you cannot know what important data may have been deleted, let alone when those happen twice (yes, rar is also a compression, i know. only that we need rar to be able to upload directories to websites). one set of compressing and decompressing is enough to create those errors, so doubling it really is not advised. how exactly the rar is more difficult then the iso? as far as i can tell, once you have working files of the game, you can just gather them all in one directory and make a rar out of it. to make an iso, you need to seperate the data for cracking from the game files, make an iso (which is harder then making a rar by itself) from the game files, then rar it all together. you have at least 2 more steps in the iso way then the base rar. how is that easier exactly? and last but not least, rar is more popular then iso. imagine a new user coming to here for the first time. nobody really have the will to read the manuals (don't attack me, i read them all, even the ones that doesn't concern me). it's more likely that user has encountered rar rather then iso, and he will probably know how to treat it as needed, and not create errors because of the way he handle it. almost nobody (again, not me) knows how to deal with iso properly, so there is more chance of problems to come up, which can make a user really frustrated.
the update is a single change which is a glitch for rockets where the game crashes its nit very needed as most players here wont even get to rockets and a new update is coming soon

Might be a bit late but meh. Chad might have forgotten that the rar files include .exe files, which very likely are seen by your anti-virus as a false-positive (which means that they will quarantine/ terminate the files). To get rid of this issue, either turn off the anti-virus temporarily or just make a whole folder an exception to the anti-virus and execute the program from there. Hope this still helps you
I downloaded and installed it but when I open oxygen not included.exe it opens till the splash screen saying KLEI and opens to the game steam page and then nothing.
i have the v359645 version no installs work, does anyone know if i can install the v358 patch to fix my version 359? so then i'll be able to just install the 2 updated patches or i do i have to start all over again? UPDATE: I bit the bullet wiped out my old game files and redownloaded all files and installed them works great!
if you use the CODEX installation, you'll have to restart from the base then reinstalling all the updates if you use the base rar, i think it's gonna work (although none of the versions of that procedure is depended on the previous one)

Nexusmods on the first page if you type oxygen not included mods in the google search. And who say there is shitty mods on nexus, hmmm, how is that shit when you can change everything in the game? Very easy to place mods in it. Github also have mods with guide. Game is full with content i don't use mods, what for. edited: debug_enable also working with CODEX i just let you know.
there are 11 mods compared to 300 some on steam workshop and I dont see a blueprints mod, a wire cutters mod, mosaic tiles mod, or anything else that adds content or better ui to improve the games streamline
no nexus mods have very shitty mods and a very little amount of them. they have different mods than steamworkshop, just use the method that torpidz said its very simple. I have 22 simultaneous mods running rn but im on the old version thats not codex

Tip: Run the game first after installing it. There's a build number at the bottom of the main menu. If the build number is lower than the update build number, use the update. otherwise, you don't need any updates. Some of the uploaders are kind enough to update the main game download to the latest build so new downloaders can just download and play without bothering about updates. the patch files are for those who downloaded a previous version and cant be bothered to download everything all over again.
i understand the idea behind that behavior. but that would mean both update groups will need an update each time a new hotfix comes up at the current version (v361684) the codex is updated and the portables are one hotfix behind

No need to download the "UPDATE V357226", if that's what you meant by "patch". It's patch for an older version that the site moderators have not removed yet. The different links are just mirrors in case one becomes unavailable, you have the option to download it from a different site.

Hey all, Here's how to install mods. First, download the mods you want via http://steamworkshop.download. Then, go to your Documents/Klei/OxygenNotIncluded/mods Create a folder and name it "local" (without quotations) Next, go inside the "local" folder and create another folder. This is where your .dll files from your downloaded mods will go. Rename the folder to something, preferably as the mod name for easy organization. Copy your mod files into this folder. Finally, boot up your game. Your installed mods should show up. Enable them and you'll find another folder named "settings" in Documents/Klei/OxygenNotIncluded/mods. These are your mod settings.

Looks like you're trying to install a language pack. Language packs are installed differently from standard mods and unfortunately I'm not entirely sure how you install them.
the 2 folders? by the steps Torpidz gave, there should be only .dll files in the downloaded mods. also, if this is a translation, i think there is a difference from normal mods

as for the use of winrar in opening ISO, i tried to reach the operators of this website, in order to decrease confusion. for me, using 2 softwares is more confusing, especially when one of the is messing around ISO files and mounding, which are quite hard to understand. as for the link, i can't think of any source of information about the game then the site of the developers of the game itself. the site himself might be confusing, but still most reliable. i had no bag about the version. i am well aware to the format and place to ask for such action from the operators.
Daemon Tools make a virtual drive,like a dvd or cd.It can edit image,convert,burn into dvd or cd stuff like that. With winrar of course you can open iso and you can also extract the iso somewhere,but those files won't be virtual files,like when you mount it.So it need real space,im not an expert i know not much
ISO is a file format that arrange data like the arrangement inside a compact disk mounding, as far as i know, replicate the action of inserting CD to the computer, but for files already in the computer memory. it can only be acted upon files with files of similar arrangement to a CD, like ISO files. you can always look over the internet for answers

Relancer le jeu, aller dans translation et choisir coréen et le jeu sera en FR

can you guys return to the intallation method before CODEX? it was very portable and didn't need the administator verification and the mounding software and all those complications
yeah because the codex is read as a dvd which means you can't edit it and add debug mode because it is always running and if u try to eject it and open the folder it just starts it again
not cheating when i want to do testing because sandbox is frankly trash or when there is a glitch in my word like floating critters its easier to use debug than reload my game and wait 2 mins cuz my world is huge
before this page with the CODEX title, there was a page in which the links referred to compressed folders of the game code, libraries, data (like the one that need to be manually transferred, "OxygenNotIncluded_Data" i think) and all sorts of stuff. all you needed to do is to extract to wherever you wanted and maybe create a link yourself, for comfort. not administration popup, no installation process, just decompress and play. it was also updated per hotfix, meaning you didn't need to download both release folder and hotfix folder, you just could start right away from the hotfix

First of all, I did waste about 3 to 4 minutes searching for any tutorials, nothing. Plus I keep wasting space in my computer for useless things that I won't ever use cause i can't use it. They could atleast add tutorials for this? New people at this won't understand anything. It doesn't matter if you have working game even if pirated.Why don't you try it? There is a steam workshop downloader,select the mod,download it, google(or youtube) it, how to make it work, that's it.No magic. I use mods in a pirated crusader kings 2, fallout 4, but i don't play with this.
That is not the problem. The problem I have is not "will mods work?" but "how do I install workshop mods manually?". The bigger problem with this game is since until not so long it didn't have direct workshop compatibility you will only find outdated mod loaders that will not work anymore. By exploring files myself the game seems to store the information in a json file but I have no idea on what I have to input
after using the installer you have to go back to where the installer.exe was located and by the installer.exe you will see something called codex you drag the codex in the game file you installed from the installer.exe Im not sure why they do this but they do e

download the update at the bottom of the downloads, run the setup in the update folder, the folder called CODEX is the crack folder, open it and copy the data folder to where the games exe is located, replace any already existing files then run the game

codex is not system info, its the name of the scene group that cracked the game, you need to mount and install the disk image file, when its done copy the files from the codex folder to where the game is installed then run as administrator

you needs to crack it, i will download it, i think that there is two folders. The basic folder with the .rar and another one in the ISO folder. You need to go into the ISO folder, take all the things, and put it into the basic folder.
Yes it happened to me to. So I tried this and it works: I open the new language-file with my language with the program poedit. Than i chosed "save as...". Than i chosed an existing po-file i didnt need f.e.: strings_preinstalled_ko_klei.po in the folder \Oxygen Not Included\OxygenNotIncluded_Data\StreamingAssets\strings It works fine.
so now we need a new way to enable debug mode because the oxygen not included data folder is different and needs admin permissions to edit or make a text file in
install the mods you want in this directory:
"Documents\Klei\OxygenNotIncluded\mods\local"
you'll notice the "local" folder doesn't exist, so just make it yourself, then dump all your mods there, and they have to be extracted, which also includes extracting the "mod_publish_data_file.zip" zipfile
after that download the "Modloader.dll" thru this link:

and you'll download a 12kb+ ModLoader.dll file
now you put that file in this directory:

Most likely data file is corrupted, or built with mismatching
editor and platform support versions.
This is the error I got.
I have the older version before, and there must be conflicting registries when I deleted the older, I just used disk cleanup and ccleaner to delete old/missing registries.
'Try resetting the game to its default setting values by deleting a file called "kplayerprefs" in the OxygenNotIncluded folder in your Documents folder. Go to C:\Users{Your Windows User account}\Documents\Klei\OxygenNotIncluded\ and delete the "kplayerprefs.yaml" file'

Did you at least see the Klei logo? If so, this might be a technical problem.
This game might be running with 2D sprites, but it uses quite a number of scripts to animate them, such as the .NET Frameworks; these are also used for the 2D physics in the game.
.NET Framework 4.0 is specifically needed for this game, according to Klei's February 2020 announcement.
That said, this package by IGG here doesn't include the installers for .NET Frameworks.

to do so, first install the game as usual and then:
open the ISO file with winrar (or any zip/rar opener)
in there you will see a CODEX file, open it up again and it will contain a folder named OxygenNotIncluded_Data..
copy it and paste it to your game's directory (your game folder)
replace anything when asked
and there you go, it should work when you launch the game :)
1.copy it to the oxygennotincluded_data\StreamingAssets\String-Folder,there you have to switch it with other language.
2. change your language.po to strings_preinstalled_ru_klei.po(this would be russian in the options but after the change it wlll be your language).
3.choose russian in game-options and it will take your language instead.
(just change the name but put the preinstalled files in backup-folder if you like),thats it.
There are pre-installed languages,you have to switch with one of them.Very easy.hope it helps

This is not where you put mods. You're not done just yet. You need to create a sub-folder in here, call it "local". Chuck your mods in local. Now? Start the game.
Final step, you're now at the main menu. One of the buttons on the main menu will say "mods". Click it. You'll see a list of the mods you've chucked in there. Click the box next to it so there's a check mark. Now, click the close button. It will ask you to restart - do so.

Some mods has config file to change things in the mod-in the game. Without rename, not easy to find what you want to change, with rename the mods you need a few sec coz you know where you need to go.

Hey all, Here's how to install mods.
First, download the mods you want via http://steamworkshop.download.
Then, go to your Documents/Klei/OxygenNotIncluded/mods
Create a folder and name it "local" (without quotations)
Next, go inside the "local" folder and create another folder. This is where your .dll files from your downloaded mods will go. Rename the folder to something, preferably as the mod name for easy organization. Copy your mod files into this folder.
Finally, boot up your game. Your installed mods should show up. Enable them and you'll find another folder named "settings" in Documents/Klei/OxygenNotIncluded/mods. These are your mod settings.

Download ALL updates, open the update folder in them, run setup in all the folders, starting with the oldest update, moving to the newer one.
Once their all installed, goto the last update file, open the CODEX folder, copy http://OxygenNotIncluded.data, paste the folder into the game files, replace all, and run the game!

Microsoft NET.Framework, Microsoft XNA Framework,Microsoft Visual C++, OpenAL, nothing more. And of course updated drivers on the pc. You need these for any "extract and play" game as well. Not easy make that rar version as you think, and tell me why would they bother with it if here is a working codex version? Just plus work for a nothing
the stuff you listed (libraries, i guess?) are not things an average user will know to deal with. anyway, they are probably come with the operating system, so that does not really affect the choice.
in the compression and decompression steps (into ISO, and others), you cannot know what important data may have been deleted, let alone when those happen twice (yes, rar is also a compression, i know. only that we need rar to be able to upload directories to websites). one set of compressing and decompressing is enough to create those errors, so doubling it really is not advised.
how exactly the rar is more difficult then the iso? as far as i can tell, once you have working files of the game, you can just gather them all in one directory and make a rar out of it. to make an iso, you need to seperate the data for cracking from the game files, make an iso (which is harder then making a rar by itself) from the game files, then rar it all together. you have at least 2 more steps in the iso way then the base rar. how is that easier exactly?
and last but not least, rar is more popular then iso. imagine a new user coming to here for the first time. nobody really have the will to read the manuals (don't attack me, i read them all, even the ones that doesn't concern me). it's more likely that user has encountered rar rather then iso, and he will probably know how to treat it as needed, and not create errors because of the way he handle it. almost nobody (again, not me) knows how to deal with iso properly, so there is more chance of problems to come up, which can make a user really frustrated.

Chad might have forgotten that the rar files include .exe files, which very likely are seen by your anti-virus as a false-positive (which means that they will quarantine/ terminate the files).
To get rid of this issue, either turn off the anti-virus temporarily or just make a whole folder an exception to the anti-virus and execute the program from there.

What to do?
Some of the uploaders are kind enough to update the main game download to the latest build so new downloaders can just download and play without bothering about updates. the patch files are for those who downloaded a previous version and cant be bothered to download everything all over again.
but that would mean both update groups will need an update each time a new hotfix comes up
at the current version (v361684) the codex is updated and the portables are one hotfix behind
why is the update in the codex form and not the previous, portable form?
i thought that form is not relevant anymore in this game.

un ejemplo el mod que me descarge para intercambiar el lenguaje lo puse asi :
strings_preinstalled_ru_klei.po
y el original lo cambie de nombre y ahora si funciono

i just recently downloaded the v358820 on this site too. 2days later update v359645 came out and need to redownload the whole game again just to move to latest version.
this shit game had update weekly since came out

The different links are just mirrors in case one becomes unavailable, you have the option to download it from a different site.

First, download the mods you want via http://steamworkshop.download.
Then, go to your Documents/Klei/OxygenNotIncluded/mods
Create a folder and name it "local" (without quotations)
Next, go inside the "local" folder and create another folder. This is where your .dll files from your downloaded mods will go. Rename the folder to something, preferably as the mod name for easy organization. Copy your mod files into this folder.
Finally, boot up your game. Your installed mods should show up. Enable them and you'll find another folder named "settings" in Documents/Klei/OxygenNotIncluded/mods. These are your mod settings.

i had no bag about the version. i am well aware to the format and place to ask for such action from the operators.
With winrar of course you can open iso and you can also extract the iso somewhere,but those files won't be virtual files,like when you mount it.So it need real space,im not an expert i know not much

seule méthode que j'ai trouvé est de télécharger le fichier FR sur le
workshop en passant par un downloader (recherche sur google).
Ensuite
j'ai modifié un des fichier préinstallé (Oxygen Not
Included\OxygenNotIncluded_Data\StreamingAssets\strings) j'ai changé
l'extention .po en .txt de la langue coréenne pour l'ouvrir avec un
éditeur de texte, pareil pour le fichier téléchargé sur le workshop
(strings.po).
Ensuite copier le contenu du fichier (strings.po) et le coller dans l'autre fichier, enregistrer et remettre l’extension .po.
Relancer le jeu, aller dans translation et choisir coréen et le jeu sera en FR
but im not french,just for test

Do the same with the Polish file, rename the Polish file strings_preinstalled_ru_klei and load the Russian language in the game, it works for me.
I open the new language-file with my language with the program poedit. Than i chosed "save as...". Than i chosed an existing po-file i didnt need f.e.: strings_preinstalled_ko_klei.po in the folder \Oxygen Not Included\OxygenNotIncluded_Data\StreamingAssets\strings
It works fine.
