actually its not working at all and yes its cracked its saying some dll files are missing d3dcompiler api-ms-win-core-libraryloader, and 2 others, i even downloaded the files else where cause those are part of directx through google then i get a basic error code

Open big picture - option - controller config and disable everything never had that problem with steamwork fixes but some people happen to have controller problems with steamwork fixes (in general not only EDF) this method worked for my friend.
any controller ( most for Xinput gamepads) anyway it isn't a 100% fix solution you have to "fight" with Big picture controller settings Like enable /disable certain options etc... try to run the game in Big picture mode and maybe it will load a Controller profile directly from steam which you can edit (and yep it works for every controller)
Makes the game show up as "Spacewar" when launched is that a problem or what? that's normal as most of the steamworks uses spacewar Appid in wrapper mode
and doesn't allow you to play with friends who purchased the game. and that's even more normal :x since it is online.. "pirate" players play with "pirate" players in some very(very very) rare cases you can play with people who purchased the game and it should be over a LAN (or emulated LAN)

Dunno. It has some issues tho. Check the steam page of the game for fixes. It works a lot better if you use "Borderless Gaming" to play in window mode.

Thanks for this. I have Earth Defense Force 4.1 and I think it's a marvelous underrated gem. As I always say, "Starship troopers in Japan"! I'm a fan of Starship Troopers and I lived in Japan. It doesn't get better than this.😍 I hope this one is at least as good as the previous game!
IMO, it's better than 4.1...more hectic, better looking, more responsive gameplay. 4.1 was good, don't get me wrong, but this is definitely an improvement. Now if only we could get Iron Rain as well.

Wow, so quick. I bought and i'm still downloading the official release. I bought the game to support the company but i'll still dowload the pirated one for safe keeping.
Been playing it for a couple of hours and it's as good as the previous version. I'm playing multiplayer online as a Wing Diver. Fliying around, raining death from above and up close is always great. All the other classes got massive upgrades though. Wing Diver is the weakest class but i still manage to pull my weight. Air Rider has lots and lots of bombardment options now and his skills work in a cooldown so while sometimes slower, they are more reliable.
I found it weird that you start off as a civilian and only later on do you join the EDF proper. Also they don't know the aliens nor the "monsters" so in terms of story this is either a prequel or a reboot of sorts. At least that's what it feels like to me. also Wing Diver isn't THAT weak as long as you don't get surrounded
Yeah, I noticed that as well about the story. I'm guessing it's an alternate universe EDF because it took them how many chapters to figure out it was an alien attack and not an attack from another nation? In fact, do all EDF games start off like this? Has one ever been a direct sequel to the last? I mean, so far 4.1, Insect Armageddon, 5 and Iron Rain all have the EDF but each act like it's the first time they've face aliens, I believe.
I haven't played all of them so it's possible they all start out like this BUT this is definitely the first one i've played where you start of as a civilian and not already in the military
I've been leveling up all four classes at once for some reason, so the last mission I did was bringing down the big insect dropping ships for the first time. Dare I ask what the NPCs did? How bad was it?
They call them humanoid but only in the sense that they have two arms, two legs and walk up straight, they look more like giant green frogs honestly. They start showing up at around mission 20 or so. Anyway, after they start showing up, the NPCs go full retard mode saying stuff like" They look just like us humans" and"I can't shoot them...they look just like us". And i'm over here like" BOY!"

Try changing some of the settings for example windowed or screen resolution.
If my PC can handle it I might probably buy the game.
