Yea dude. Dark Souls ain't got shit on Blaster Master Zero. This shit is hard man. You gotta play it just like Dark Souls as well. Every single engagement must be taken seriously. I LOVE it!. :) I hear Blaster Master Zero 2 is even tougher but the mechanics are tighter and improved on a bit. Also It has Empress from Dragon: Marked for Dead which is beyond insanely cool. Dunno who else is in it. Can't wait to check that out though. I have it but I really want to put some time into this one first.
I have an issue with this. Redownloaded from GD and the Torrent, didn't work. I updated my .net framework, windows update, c++ distributables, etc... didn't work. Turned off my antivirus, didn't work. The problem is the file is missing this .dll entirely. It's not in the zipped archive. EDIT: Downloading the latest DirectX fixed it for me. Works now.
Been awhile here so i don't know if you got this working or not but... if you scan with Windows Defender it will find a trojan virus. Click to allow this before unpacking the zip. You might have to do the same to the folder you unpack it to. It's definitely an issue with that Trojan though one way or another. So if you have virus protection other than Windows Defender make sure you scan the RAR file and ALLOW the Trojan and then do the same to the folder it ends up getting unpacked to. You can't just disable your virus protection unless you do so before you even download it. And keep it disabled throughout.

It'll find a trojan and you need to allow it so it'll actually unpack it for you. The game won't work without doing this. The other thing is that you have to unpack this on the same drive that Windows is installed on otherwise it'll have framerate issues and basically be unplayable. Plus the sound wouldn't work either when I had this on my other hard drive.
I played it as a kid too but it was a little too hard for me at that age. I bought it bc of the nostalgia and played it for a couple hours. It's a really well done remake. You should play it!
Isn't this built around different game mechanics than the original like Mega Man XZ did? Made by the same people so I assumed that was the case. Although, I really have no idea.

This is a complete re-imagining of the game using more modern game mechanics. It's really freaking great and made really freaking well . Especially with the DLC characters - Shantae and Shovel Knight. The sequel is even more badass and insane.
Just a fan theory from original BM players who play ME1. ME's Mako is very similar to Blaster Master game play, just different perspective. BM is 2D and ME 3D. Can jump & shoot. Then when there's cave or building, protagonist exit Mako to travel by foot.

The developer is Inti Creates. And so is the publisher. Nothing AT ALL to do with Nintendo. And, again, it doesn't matter if it's first party or not. The game was an exclusive to Nintendo platforms until this point and Nintendo are well known for keeping third party games exclusive to their platforms, regardless of who develops them. Hence, surprising they gave up on the exclusivity
