I have the same problem. I searched it a little bit and I found out that the error that pops out means that steam can understand that you didn't bought the game and that it's cracked. So there is something wrong with the files of the game.
Open the file that you are downloading the game from and when you click on the folder where you can see the: setup.exe You click on the folder named CODEX and you just follow the path. so CookingSim_data
Plugins and then you just copy the files in the correct folder in your game folder
so just a little bit confused on how to download this game. never had to download one that says codex? the files are different to the ones im normally use to downloading...
