Second: Copy your PLAZA Save file now, which should be called rep_persistentgamestate1
Dont forget to copy rep_persistentgamestate2 and rep_persistentgamestate3 as these should be your other save files!
Third: And now head over to your 1.7.7a Isaac destination (where you extracted the rar at.). for me i extracted it at Downloads.
There should be a Profile folder In your Isaac folder, If you dont see this make sure you have opened up the game once.
Fourth: You enter the profile folder, through IGGGAMES Folder as well, and locate the Saves folder.
And now you just paste your PLAZA Save In there and Voila! Once you boot up the game your save should be ready to go now.
I've tried my best to make this as clear as i can so as always im here to help if there are any problems during your transferring. Oh and you can delete the PLAZA Isaac destination now since it has no use.
The 1.7.9 update I don't see a Profile folder. I know it's new but do you have ay information regarding this issue. I have opened the game and I even defeated Mom without mods so I could unlock achievements.

1-download the mod you want (most workshop downloaders are down, you can use skymods as a comment suggested before, tho i found this one and it works for me:https://ggntw.com/steam)
2-paste the uncompressed mod folder into the "mods" directory of the game (The.Binding.of.Isaac/mods)
3-the mod folder will probably be a bunch of random numbers, you need to re-name said folder properly, to get the name, enter the mod folder and look for a file named "metadata.xml" double click and open with notepack
4-with the file opened with notepack, look for a line that says "directory" and copy the name that is shown there (case sensitive) example for fiend folio mod: fiendfolio-reheated <<<<<---copy the mod name in-between the directory lines "fiendfolio-reheated"
5-paste or write the exact same name shown there as the mod folder name, then it won't get deleted when you launch the game
you have to do this for EACH and EVERY mod that you want to use, it's tedious yes, but if you want convenience then you should buy the game on steam ;) hope this helps
How do I use mods? I try to drag the folder into the ModUploader folder but it says I can't upload folders to .iso files. I use WinRAR to open the files.
To update from 1.7.8 go to C:\Users[YourUsername]\Documents\My Games\Binding of Isaac Repentance. Take the most recently modified file from your 1.7.8 save* and move it to C:\Users[YourUsername]\AppData\Roaming\Goldberg SteamEmu Saves\250900\remote *. Replace the existing .dat file with the one you coppied and rename it to rep_persistentgamedata1.dat**. That's all, have fun!

to find your past save files, head over to:
C:\Users\youruserhere/Documents/My Games/Binding of Isaac Repentance/
and locate this file: "(numbers).rep_persistentgamedata1.dat" and copy it, we'll need it to paste it into another folder later.
(also copy rep_persistentgamedata 2 and etc if you have multiple save slots.) Do note: the save file has to be the most recently modified, meaning its the newest file isaac saved of your progress.
This destination is the new save file destination of PLAZA isaac, and now what you need to do is paste your save file in there, but dont forget to rename the file and remove the numbers before "rep_".
if done correctly, your folder should look like this (ignore rep_gamestate.)
and now you have successfully transferred your save file! please tell me if there are any errors, or you have any problems transferring your save file, I'll try my best to help. Also, make sure to read the replies aswell, they might also fix your situation.

Hi, so yeah. I tried transfering my save just like you said, but there is a problem. When I launch PLAZA isaac there are only new save slots. Tried ur method multiple times but still, my save won't load in :/ Also tried restarting pc like Lu_Bucz did, but it didn't help

I got the save of my progress but it was from like before repentance update, so i dont have unlocked Bethany and Jacob&Esau and all achievements from my previous save file (full hard mode marked Isaac, etc.). well, first i tried to copy and paste only rep_persistentgamedata 1 from location you said to the location of CODEX with correct id, then i tried to copy the latest saved file (1) to the codex and removed 'rep_', this worked but not that much as i said it showed me a save BEFORE repentance, after that i tried copy latest rep_persistentgamedata 1, 2, 3, and removed 'rep_', nothing changed, then i just tried to copy all and paste save files to new isaac but didnt work as supposed. Oh! and tried it with older saves but still before repentance for some reason. Edit: nevermind, i fixed it now, the only problem was that it required restart of PC. anyway, thank you for helping me and trying to help fix my problem, have a nice day!
alright, i was gonna say you didn't have to remove "rep_", there usually would be numbers before that for example like "20211108.rep_persistentgamedata1". If you didn't have those, you can just paste your save file to the codex destination anyway. but, im happy you got to figure it out on your own! and sorry i couldn't reply any sooner, i was taking a nap ^^'
How do I Port my saves from the previous patch over to this new patch? On the older version it did it automatically but this time it's not working. I still have save data from my older version in the 250900/remote file but on this new version the save files are all blank.
E: Where does this patch save to? because when I play it I need steam open and it uses my actual account as opposed to the fake steam ID like in older versions.
E2: I'm also struggling to get mods to work, for example when I put External Item descriptions (latest version) into the mods folder, It shows up in game and I can activate it, but it just doesn't work, and the game runs as if no mods are active.

Yes. To be more precise, it does save in a folder in MyDocuments, but that folder isn't the one the game tries to read the files from (the log files tell you the saves couldn't be found and fresh saves are created)

I couldn't make it work with a friend, I tried inviting them while playing but it opened a normal spacewars menu instead of the Isaac version, he would show in my lobby but neither the game would finish loading on my screen nor the game would appear on his, any guides?
Edit: I had the version 1.9.7.4 and he had 1.9.7.5, the latest one jsut gets stuck when trying to create a lobby, the other ones lets you create and start a lobby, I'll try later to invite him with both of us using the 7.4 ver

I am playing modded right now with no problems. there's a few mods that are incompatible with repentance+, so you should check comments on steam workshop to see if the mod actually works before installing.
I have unlocked almost all characters, so there's nothing wrong with the progression anymore.
what about the saves? guessing since you are progressing the saves are working. do you have the repentence plus mod. also does controller work on this? have you found a way
save folder is repentence+ folder apparently. documents.my games. repentence+. Im wondering if its any kind of cheating at all. so no cheat engine at all. just the luck of the draw? ill try that. because i reinstalled too. deleted everything and im still stuck. i cant even go into the game and exit out without the game not saving my progress. maybe its a beta problem or something thats done with multiplayer? or maybe since steam is on the beta is messing with local and cloud saves. either way, i cant even get the continue to pop up. wait wait wait also what is your save file drive? that might be why i cant save. oh and my spacewars wont sync either in the steam program.
edit: So i think i fixed the save issue. for me but i did a ton of shit and the last thing that worked was adding the game manually as a non steam game. hit play and space war is cloud up to date and now its continuing so we will see what happens.
for anyone thats trying to play with mods, if the other way of doing it worked but it doesnt now, you need to put your mods in the repentance + folder which is in your user documents folder. mine was in my games
Can't use mods? Put the mod in the mods folder in the game installation directory and open the game. modslist doesn't have any mods and all the files in the mods folder in the installation directory disappear after I quit the game.

Open the "metadata.xml" contained in the mod folder and look for the "directory" tag, then rename the folder accordingly.
Note that any Steam Workshop Downloader services are broken currently since they partially downloads the mods, instead users that has access to the workshop need share the mods manually. I use SkyMods for this.
the crack is to trick steam to make it seem like you have the legal copy since piated games arent legal the crack also makes it so you can play online on the illeagal version but this doesnt work on some games
On the steam workshop they have a link to dropbox at the very bottom of the page. Follow the 'readme' instructions inside of the folder and download the latest version of the mod.
Downloaded this again for the latest update but the save file doesn't transfer despite supposedly having the same save path (also tried putting the saves in the profile save file but that didn't work either)

You need to edit the file metadata.xml of the mod you want to use. Just open it (metadata.xml) and delete the line that says: ######## and save the edited file. Just to be sure, I also rename the mod's folder I'm trying to add for example: Custom starting items mod which by default has the name 1727600074_custom_starting_items, to something else like Custom starting items and it usually works fine (obviously after editing the metadata.xml). Move the folder to your mods folder and should be automatically enabled when you open the game. I have about 30 mods active and this works. If you had already some mods working, then there could be some recently added mods that are crashing the game. Some mods are for afterbirth+ only versions and need to be updated for repentance. Try enabling little by little the mods until you find the faulty one. Using old mods that aren't updated either crash the game or make weird things happen like the donation box not appearing in the floor or crashing the game when you move to another floor.
I followed your instructions, and i still have the same problem : in the "option.ini" file, whenever i launch the game, "EnableMods" is reset to 0, although I manually sety it to 1 everytime. Could you help me on that please ?
That's very weird. I had that problem on the first repentance version that was uploaded here first. But after the update (that enabled the mods), the mods worked as they should. Are you usuing the latest version published here? Also try deleting the options.ini (in my case I had 2 or 3 files called options.ini, one for my user and for the computer's default user, you can try searching for them) and run the game again to create a new one, and enable the mods inside the game using the Tab key.
Hi, I have a problem my game doesn't save anything, I play but all the objetcs, stats or ennemies are not save. I cannot unlock characters to because of this bug. Anyone can help me pls?

So, everything works unless you wanna start a new game. New game? Can't unlock shit, the streak counter don't go up and no characters unlock. I had 10 hearts and no Maggy. When you extract the mod zip file and it gets put in a folder, rename that folder to something unique before placing it in the mods folder and starting the game. That solved the problem for me.

BUT THE 4.0.4 MAIN Save files are in User/Steam/Codex/1426300 The crap in the "User/doc/mygames/B.O.I Repentence" folder is just a reflection of these above saves so it's useless renaming them or whatever. To shift the files over to the new 4.0.4 game Just Delete the files in Steam/Codex/1426300 (if there are any) and Paste all contents from the Steam/Codex/250900 folder here. Then delete any files in User/doc/mygames/B.O.I Repentence. Then try launch the game and see if it works.
yeah sure. You can find it in "User/Documents". Open My computer, and on the left side is usually a shortcut to the Documents folder, where you will find steam Folder. Inside that is the "Codex/250900" folder.
I am trying to move my save file from 4.0.3. I got the crack from the Youtuber Crackity. This didn't work and I'm lost at what to do. I do own AB+ and AB legit.
Dude I'm not too sure on 4.0.3, because I updated from 4.0.2. But basically, the 4.0.4 Save folder is "User/Documents/Steam/Codex/1426300". It changed from 4.0.2's "User/Documents/Steam/Codex/250900" original save folder. Both numbers are basically steam's label for the game. And for whatever reason the Number(and folder) changed at some point after 4.0.2. You can check for these two folders, and try to copy over (first make backup copy of both folders) everything from /250900 over to /1426300 and see if it's working for you (also maybe delete files in /1426300 before pasting the files from /250900 here).

Just open it (metadata.xml) and delete the line that says:
######## and save the edited file.
Just to be sure, I also rename the mod's folder I'm trying to add for example: Custom starting items mod which by default has the name 1727600074_custom_starting_items, to something else like Custom starting items and it usually works fine (obviously after editing the metadata.xml).
Move the folder to your mods folder and should be automatically enabled when you open the game. I have about 30 mods active and this works.
If you had already some mods working, then there could be some recently added mods that are crashing the game. Some mods are for afterbirth+ only versions and need to be updated for repentance. Try enabling little by little the mods until you find the faulty one.
Using old mods that aren't updated either crash the game or make weird things happen like the donation box not appearing in the floor or crashing the game when you move to another floor.

Also try deleting the options.ini (in my case I had 2 or 3 files called options.ini, one for my user and for the computer's default user, you can try searching for them) and run the game again to create a new one, and enable the mods inside the game using the Tab key.
I've looked it up and it says to download "VC_redist.x64" and run it, which I did, and it still doesn't work, even after restarting my computer.

New game? Can't unlock shit, the streak counter don't go up and no characters unlock. I had 10 hearts and no Maggy.
So it's either play with no unlocks or download a save that's fully unlocked and that ain't any fun. Both options got me dying of boredom 😢
I've tried everything and need some advice. I own the base game and AB and AB+ legit but if I drop in this website's crack it appears to not read my save files. If I restore 4.0.3 it works fine... Could I have some help figuring out how to transfer my save(s) over?
For anyone having problems with moving SAVE FILE from 4.0.2 game to 4.0.4 game -
FOR ME THIS WORKED (After every other method given here in comments failed)
The crap in the "User/doc/mygames/B.O.I Repentence" folder is just a reflection of these above saves so it's useless renaming them or whatever.
To shift the files over to the new 4.0.4 game Just Delete the files in Steam/Codex/1426300 (if there are any) and Paste all contents from the Steam/Codex/250900 folder here. Then delete any files in User/doc/mygames/B.O.I Repentence.
Then try launch the game and see if it works.
You can check for these two folders, and try to copy over (first make backup copy of both folders) everything from /250900 over to /1426300 and see if it's working for you (also maybe delete files in /1426300 before pasting the files from /250900 here).
