I got it to launch perfectly fine only problem is everything is in Japanese and I don't understand a thing so i can't even attempt to change it in setting
i am not sure if this is a common error or just a small of us that unlucky. Thing is i run it on win 10, there is nothing happen (used locale emulator too but kernel32 appeared) it would nice if someone can help.
As Stofffie94 I am also having a problem starting the game, it crashes immediately on launch giving me the ol "som has stopped working". Windows 7 and 10 both have the issue. I have re extracted the files incase of some corruption, no avail. Downloaded the common redist they give but also no resolution.

Visual novels with Live2D technology is C R A P !!!!! There's nothing better, than standart VN with static pictures and without voices! I don't understand, why japanese so obsessed with voice acting... I am not a japanese, so i prefer text and static pictures... and low hard disc usage!
They are in the main folder for the game where the game's executable is. The bat files just stet the language when you launch the game. By default, the game uses Japanese.
Which is why I said borderline 3D. They aren't 2D they aren't 3D and it's somewhere in between therefore borderline. There's probably a better term for it but i don't know of one
If you want just the english version, just delete all folders, except common and EN. Then, delete all of the .bat files, except the one titled Run_EN.bat. Then, you will just have to use the Run_EN.bat file to run the game from where you extracted it.
No, I disagreed. Not every game engine are the same. Like atlus and square enix, they got they own game engine. If you work as game development, you will understand what I saying.

It's not a static VN of pictures thats probably why the size is so big. The characters on screen are borderline 3D models that move around and the CG is all the same
Additionally, this uses assetts for 5 different language versions of the game in one package.(chinese and simplified chinese, French, English, and Japanese) If you remove the excess data, the english version is just 9.7GB.

The english version of the game is technically only 9.7GB, It is around 25.6GB due to the common_redist files like visual C++ and DirectX, as well as the data for two different Chinese versions of the game, the JP version, the English Version, and the French version. I'm not sure if you can play by removing the unneeded folders, though, for the languages you will likely never use.
I just checked and you can delete the data for the versions you don't need. You just need to use the bat file for the language version you want to use, if it isn't Japanese.
I don't know about this one, last time we got something like this it was School Days and you know what that did to us, and vndb doesn't have a lot of information, and no H scenes to justify the pain like School Days
Could somebody please explain to me why i can't get Song of Memories v1.1 to run. None of the steps provided help in the slightest and case 3 is the only relevant step provided but nothing runs and the only reaction i get is by running Run_EN as admin to get this message. I even tried placing the folder in program files, steam, extracting it like the file was provided and moving it to one folder and i literally get no activity.

well yes and no there's no written rule on what we are supposed to do, i used to help a lot in what is now called faq section but i've less time now and other mods usually take care of help request faster than i currently can, there are many reasons for which games dont work on all machines and some are pretty hard to point out, if you want i can dl this game and let you know if it works/solve the problem
Not sure what that means, do you mean the Run_EN thing because that just makes a black text box show up before immediately closing down. If I run as Administrator it says Som.exe is missing or something.
I'm pretty sure I just had whatever was in the RAR, I'm redownloading it just to make sure, just so I don't mess anything up when it's done, I just click Run_EN not the SoM Exe? Or do I click both
i clicked on Run_EN and it worked, vcredits are libraries that you need to run games and they generally lead to black screen etc it doesnt come with the game
Ha, fair, still, I'd rather not just google "black screen when running visual novel" or whatever, I get the bad feeling that would cause more problems than it'd solve, if you know the name of the program I'm supposed to be looking for, I can take it from there if I have the name.
