You and your friends have to download Radmin VPN Install Radmin VPN and launch the application. You will be greeted with Create Network or Join Network
For the Hosts you have to click at create network -For the Network name, you can name it anything you want -For the password, can be anything you want.

When joining, if it says "Host must allow you to join" Tell the host to go into menu, player invite and allow them If it says "Already authenticating" Tell the host to go into menu, player invite, click on their username and click invite. The person who join have to accept the invite, if it doesn't work. Tell the host to spam the hell of the invite button. If it says "Joining the server..." or something like that, then it's working.
----Playing With Mods---- If you want to play with mod first you have to change "-Dzomboid.steam=1", to"-Dzomboid.steam=0" in ProjectZomboid64.json In order to change you have to open the .json by notepad
Enter the game using .bat file Don't forget to enable all the mod in "Mods" option at menu Host have to add the mod in Host>Manage Setting>Edit>Mods Then enter the game, same as Playing Without Mods Host and Your friend have to install the same mod.

it just an ipv4 address, it doesn't actually revealing your ip. or if you mean the server ip, i just make sure to remove it in case of safety. since i didn't really have much knowledge in networking stuff.
Nvm, we actually made it work. Thank you so much, for the tutorial but we have encountered another problem. Whenever my friends exit the server and tried to join back, they're stuck on the "Already authenticated" screen. We tried to follow your instructions about the invite method but their names doesn't pop up. How do you fix this?
Tell your friend to rejoin the game, it happens to my friend as well.
note: in order to save your progress your friend have to join through the server in server list. If join through invite then it will tell you to create new character.
Alright, so we tried doing what you commented and none of it works. My friend can't connect to me in the game. While he did connect to the radmin VPN. His connection keep failing whenever he joins in, even if the server has no password.
Is there any fix or things that we might forget about?
Also, does do we need to run the serve.bat file or change the steam dbi to 0? Because the steam dbi change actually work for public online lobbies, but creating one doesn't seem to work.

Seems to have broken again, the game installs perfectly but the game just crashes if you try to launch it. Renaming the bin folder in JRE or JRE64 doesn't work either. We may need another fix.
Can anyone know how to fix the recently broken version? its seem like the game only load at "loading Scripts" then shut off. Using Batch file not work, too
I tried ProjectZomboid64.exe and ProjectZomboid64.bat as someone suggested below but it shut down when loading at "Loading Scripts", also with 32 It used to work at 41.72 fluently but not this version. I tried to remove things that come from the old version, too. But still Someone below also suggest -nosteam parameter but the instruction is quite unclear, so i have not tried it yet
Just create a shortcut for the application and right click the icon then go to properties. Under the SHORTCUT tab there is a target section add "-nosteam" (without quote) at the end of the PATH. Then you use that to open the game.
If the game doesn't work and you've already tried ProjectZomboid64.bat and the -nosteam argument, get the OnlineFix crack from the previous 41.71-0xdeadc0de release, the online should probably work as well.
I've uploaded the files if you want to download them, but otherwise just look for the OnlineFix version and get the necessary files from that version.
I just bought the 4 pack project zomboid today on steam because of the sale. Took me a long time before buying the game and i'm glad buying a legit copy to support the developers. There are plenty of errors and problems with the pirated version and i endured all of it for a long time, now, it's time to go legit. I hope you guys will buy the game soon and support the developers of this amazing game.
The problem is that the installer can't find the .BIN file, even when it's right there. I think it has something to do with the bin being named wrong for some reason.
Not my usual but you all realise is an 11 dollar game on steam right now that's been regularly updated for the last 8 to 10 years. Why not just buy the damn thing instead of killing yourselves figuring out magic fixes to multi-player versions?
I would just buy the game too, but I just really can't. Since my parents wouldn't allow me to withdraw money from the bank to just buy a game. Even though I could borrow the money from my parent, I wouldn't though since they also don't have that much money. I would use something such as piggy bank but the money can be only for the school. I've been playing the cracked version for less than a year now bc I never had the money to buy the actual game- after reading this comment I was kind of reminded "Hey! I actually have enough atm!" and im pretty happy bout buyin it! i also had same problem before,after i checked my game directly files and compare to my old version ProjectZomboid64.json file,i found that in "vmArgs": [ "-Dzomboid.steam=1", is difference.so just change the 1 to 0 like this: "-Dzomboid.steam=0", then save.you need notepad++ to edit it....hope this can help you.
Go to the game files and look for the text file "ProjectZomboid64.JSON" (or 32.JSON) Open it and press control+F, then search for "steam". You should find a line of text written "-Dzomboid.steam=1" Replace 1 with 0. is it possible to enable debug mode? i'm having a hard time figuring it out, because you need to open the game from the .bat file, so i can't make a shortcut for the game and add -debug to the end of it. and opening "ProjectZomboidOpenGLDebug64.bat" doesn't start the game in debug mode.
The 64bit version isn't launching even tho I have a 64bit os, the 32bit works however. Servers ain't workin for some reason, does anyone have a solution to these issues?

I think the reason you "all" are having problems is because this version doesn't have the steam value changed. You need to either create a shortcut with the parameter "-nosteam" or instead open ProjectZomboid64.json in a text editor and set steam=1 to steam=0
HOWEVER, this is version 41.71 UNSTABLE which is not the same version as 41.71 STABLE, and hence WILL NOT WORK MULTIPLAYER (on most servers) because they are using 41.71 STABLE.

Was this 41.68 STABLE that was uploaded? because it's slightly suspiciously-fast (2 days I think?) for the stable version to be here considering that there's usually more than a 2 day lag on releases. I think 41.68 unstable might be a slightly different version.

Multiplayer works without that if you run the game with -nosteam. So people do not need to use that. But for those who want to play on a Steam server, then yes, they'd probably want that (note that I am not endorsing that file as safe, not that I'm claiming it's dangerous either).
You can play either LAN or online. If you're going to play with friends, make sure their on the same version. Try "Hamachi" by LogMeIn if you wanna play with friends online. Follow the steps on making a network through the app, let them connect on your virtual network. Host game through multiplayer option in PZ, and they will connect through your Hamachi's IPv4. Don't forget to add mods, which you can dl through steam. If you're having problem with downloading mods through steam, check out "Workshop DL" on google and click on the github link. Use workshop DL copy and paste steamworkshop links to that app and then download
Multiplayer works fine, at least with the current version we played at which is v41.78.16 Although we experience some desync when we played multiplayer through Hamachi, which happens when we go driving and some when we're on foot roaming around.
I,m having problem launching game i installed Project.Zomboid.v41.78.13 fine but when i try to launch game nothing apperas when i open task manager there are still running in background but not working help me plz.
Can some1 help? I ran the BAT file and it was stuck on "LOG : General , 1671884456890> SteamUtils started without Steam" I gave it a whole hour and nothing happened. And when I attempt to run the EXE file, it only have a background process but theres nothing that pops up.
The game installed fully, but when I try to join a server, it always says "connection failed". When I try to host and a friend tries to join, it says the same thing. Is there way to fix this problem or does multiplayer not work with this version?
Enable upnp (universal plug and play) on your router if you're the host, add a server name and password, start the server. when you're in the game you should see the server ip in a console, tell your friends to type that ip in the server ip when they add it and they should be able to join.
Ok so while playing on any map i start to get these visual errors like the grass becoming black or the walls becoming reflective when looking at one. Is there a way to fix this? I am running the game without a GPU tho so it might be because of that even tho on older versions that was't the case

how do i install it? i have the v41.70 from igg-games and i copied the hotfix to my v41.70 folder and yet it still can't detect the "part 1" that the hotfix is looking for.
Yes this is because someone (or people) asked for the game to be updated when the current version was "41.71 unstable", but by the time it was updated, the game released "41.71 stable" which is a different version and isn't compatible with clients running "41.71 unstable". Unless requesters and/or IGG wants to update the game twice in quick succession, requesters/IGG should wait until stable releases before updating.
Usually there is a "server" file in the same folder that the game is, run that one and then run your game and connect to your own ip, im downloading it so, ill confirm later
just add the game as non steam. you will see a + icon on bottom of your steam store/your game. then you click on options and add -nosteam in run options
i haven't test it in 41.65 yet but im sure it work in any version. to summarize this up:
installing radmin vpn install radmin vpn host go to create network, enter the network name and password anything u want joinner go to join network, private network, enter the host's network name and password
hosting game (host) host click the host button on the menu, click manage setting (create new setting if you dont have one) checkmark the public, password is optional. click save then start.
joinning game (joinner) joinner click the join button on the menu, for the IP go to radmin vpn, right click on host then copy ip address, paste it into the ip bar. make sure local ip is empty, leave port as it is, if server has password, enter it. account username and password can be anything (if u want to save progress, remember it.) click add now join the server
allowing player host will now go to menu (pressing ESC), go to player invite then allow the joinner for the joinner, if it shows already authenticate, host will click on the joinner's name then invite instead. for the joinner pov it will show up the invite message. accept the invite and you are in.
try holding the left shift while the game is booting.
if that doesn't work, head to the game folder then right click on either projectzomboid32.exe or projectzomboid64.exe then create shortcut. after that right click on the shortcut then go to properties. on the target add -debug at the end. should be something like "(brah brah brah)\Project.Zomboid.v46.60\ProjectZomboid64.exe" -debug (don't forget to add space before -debug) then launch by the shortcut and you're now have the debug mode

Yes, it is possible. If you only want to play with your friends and host a private server you can skip all of that port forward stuff and use Radmin instead. Had a blast playing it with some friends already.
Just in case if you or anyone else are wondering about it, this is how I usually go about it :
Host :
Download and open Radmin VPN and then create a network
Open PZ and click host (you can change how much ram the server will use here)
Open the server settings and set it to public on the Details tab (you can also set up a password here if you want)
Lastly, just start the server, wait till it says server started, and you're good
Friends :
Download Radmin VPN and join the host's network
Open PZ and click on join to open the server browser
Insert the host's server password (if any) and Radmin IP, also leave the port as is
Set your username and password (this is required but it doesn't really matter what you put in)
Click on save and then you can join the server
Note : I've tested this with the latest version of some mods namely Brita's Armor and Weapon Pack, True actions Act 2 and 3, and minimal display Bars. They seem to work without any errors aside from some desync issues I've had but that might just be my crappy internet connection.

hm weird i tried deleting zomboid folder, removing mods from the zomboid folder AND deleting the zomboid folder, wiping ALL my zomboid data and saves, reinstalling the whole game and also deleting the zomboid folder, and it still crashes to this day when i click mods :/ r u sure ur playing on 41.55 and you're not on an older version?
what are your specs? the minimun requirements is Intel HD 3000 , so it should work in every system but the same thing happens to me, nothing happens if I click the exe or the bat file.

If you play the game by projectzomboid64.exe, right click and choose create shortcut, its gonna create (spawn??) shortcut below the original .exe. Right click the shortcut, choose property, there'll be a box with "Target", click the text box, add -debug in the end of ["........exe"] so it will be ["............exe" -debug] make sure there's a 1 space between original text and -debug. And then play with the shortcut. If you play the game with .bat, I dont know. Maybe edit the bat file and put -debug on it? Edit: If you gonna play the game normally with debug mode, its gonna be boring after few days. I recommend debug mode only for fixing or add item that missed by bug/glitch.

What? they're releasing 41.51 days after 41.52 already launched? Do we need to make another update request now? (the reason being that .51 had a kind of serious bug with it, which was fixed quite soon after) I would have thought they'd have given the most updated version. actually you can, go to C://user/yourname/zomboid/mods, you can DL mods on steamworkshopdownloader but you have to specific the version. These version have some issues btw, you can't execute Z on floor with weapons and you can't moove some objects. if you like the game you can buy it for around $7 and that help a independant video gaming company. it is multiplayer friendly, you can connect to friend via lan like hamachi, i was do it like ton of time, the newer version multiplayer been official locked cus they change the core game, it bug the multiplayer, you need to download previous version without core game change to play with your friend.

I have a bug where I can't sleep, if I click yes, it does nothing. I have to restart the game which takes quite some time. Also the game crashes from time to time. Anyone else experiences these?
its Known bug of the game , dont worry its nothing about crack or sumthing the game is full of bugs anyway so u have to get used to it untill they fix it.
For the people that wants to play MP in this version don't try coz even in steam it doesn't work, they're still fixing it coz 41.50 has many bugs to be fixed first but don't worry i think MP is coming soon.

Cool workaround! But let's be real here, it's not "just some bugs". There are tons of synchronization issues, mainly in vehicle mechanics, movement, combat, animation, and inventory, especially when multiple players are present within the same cell. Whatever small amount of bugs you would actually experienced are game breaking, which is the reason why multiplayer was taken down in the first place.
Hello, Your file works perfectly :) for version 41.50 my friend can join me except that when we are near, our screen shakes enormously, jerks, lag, freeze, impossible to move forward, roll back, and when we move away from each other, all become perfect again. I created the server with the basic options 1-2 go for the server and 2 players maximum and did not touch any other options. Do you have an idea ?
If your game keeps crashing your pc might be using integrated graphics card. Dunno how change graphic card if ur using nvida, but downloading amd graphic center helped me with all the crashes. You just have to choose pz and then switch graphic card to high performance. Hope it will help you all :>
This actually works so for windows 10 at least i can show you what this guy is saying: Go to settings,select system,it should automatically direct to display,look for graphics settings (it should be down at the bottom if you scroll a little bit) and than select classic apps if not already selected and browse for project zomboid,select options and than switch from safe to high performance and the game should work. Dunno about other OS-es so if you have like windows 8 just google how to do it,it should show up

Honestly I love this game after this new update I liked it even more but it crashes either at the beginning or in the menu or after the character creation, I tried all the solutions in this comments but alas nothing worked, if anyone can help in this issue I will be grateful.
Ok guys i found he solution to the crashing problem: inside the game's files there is a file named _Clock.class under Zombie/ui/ Rename it to just Clock.class and the game won't crash on loading lua (worked for me) this is utterly stupid, why is this mistake in here anyways?

do a fresh download of the game again, your files got corrupted on the previous download, cant find any other blame rather than missing files from that download instance
I found a solution, just yesterday I went to sleep. So I found a comment where was advice to go to json files and change "dzomboid steam=0". I did that and that made possible launching game straight from the exe. Unfortunately, it crashed around 5 min after loading the level. So I did the same with x32 version and this time it worked.
Go to the folder of the game (the one with SSE). Go down until you find ProjectZomboid32 or 64 exe. Under them should be a json file. Open the json file of the version you want to play with text editor (Notepad ++ is best for it) last tab," - Dzomboid.steam=1" change that one to a zero, save and launch from the exe. Launch a level, play for a while and if it doesn't crash: congratulations. If it does, try the other version (same steps) maybe it will work.
for those that crash, have you take a looked inside the game files?? there are SSE launchers there that fixes your crashing problems their called: Launcher_x32.exe Launcher_x64.exe just rename and change the icon, without doing like the -debug -nosteam, and note editing
try the Launcher_x32.exe if the 64 isn't working, if that still gives you crashes, send the logs it might help solve what the reason of the crash was. Other than that it might be possibly your machine being slow (referring to the RAM or CPU) and cant handle, if those still didn't work then the last option is to uninstall and redownload the whole thing again.

I cant even last a few hours with this game, just shows my stupidity in a apocalypse lmao, Anyway for the new guys out there, (similar to me) its a good game with nice realism to it its not as fast pace as left 4 dead 1 & 2 or thinking that its easy to survive on several nights similar to minecraft just for comparison. The learning curve is high but it makes it fun when you start building your base from the loot you stole from the surrounding buildings. Pro tip : you can move stuff from your house to block doors and such, and eat the raw food first rather than the canned ones
you probably arent launching the game from the SSE(Smart Steam Emulators) launchers, its called: Launcher_x32.exe Launcher_x64.exe they can be found inside the game files just change the icon and you can play

if you wanna play these cracked games nowadays, you must understand how to do it right, must have SmartSteamEmu pre-installed, then you'll have to run those games using that emulator, and not directly through the downloaded files, sometimes the api.ini is not set correctly and crashes for some, ... hopefully it'll give you an idea
i have smart steam emu (but it required the orginal files which sometime i cant find it) i'am asking about crashs because the game it self is unstable many comments talked about memory leak (game using large amount of RAM after sometime of playing) thank you anyway
those files from IGG are generally the original ones cracked with SSE dlls just it doesn't include the interface, but this makes the game sometimes unstable because the settings inside the "ini" files might not work for everyone, so it needs each to have his own settings to make the game work. the only thing you need is the original steam_api.dll of each game, you can try looking for this one, or just set the game appid and inject SSE, i got many games working this way and it never fails.. but it might be tricky sometimes
If you want a close-to-realistic zombie apocalypse survival game then this is it for you. It does crash from time to time even for me but nevertheless its a great game

I really want to download every game that comes on IGG games, the problem is that: I dont have good internet, download speed is about 100Kb/S at best and 75 at average So that why i check comment section before downloading, to see if there are bugs and crashs and if the game is good I like to check comments here cuz sometimes the crack it self causes the game to be unstable or anti-cracking measure, this doesnt happen on steam.

This game needs serious optimization.And animation, interesting story quests, npc and interesting items.. Like searching valuble unique items.. that kind stuff.. it's very good game but right know some parts very lacking game. if they make it this stuff, game absolutely will be amazing!
This is a note for my future self in case my future self forget again why I stopped playing this game. This is for 41.34, so that me in the future will not try this again. The game is unplayable. Sure, if you want to say that you can walk several feet out of the starting house before all textures get shot to hell and the memory usage goes up to 3.4GB and CPU goes up all the way to 90%, sure you can play it, for like 2 minutes. I've already done all the methods mentioned and it's still not working well. It started with textures, sometimes, and gradually gets worse. I figure it is due to the massive memory leak that the programmer never addressed for a long time. The game has so much memory leak that there's not much memory left to render the textures. GPU memory leak is a problem too. Well, I suppose I can't complain, since I didn't pay for this one. But I assume those who did pay for it would be pretty furious with this version's performance. Heck, if I had paid for it, I would probably go complain about it in their forums and then get banned, because they love banning people. I wonder if they still ban people for asking about NPCs. I still don't understand. This game used to be great. It used to be playable, but now it's not.

It's sad that we can only access the beta version of the game and not the stable one, People are having issues booting up the game and I did too but now the map launches and all but.. It's all corrupted. By that I mean that a all bunch of textures are white blocks and some (well, most) of them are missing. I'm not use to complain on this site because heck it's free but.. All.. of them. Like, I start the game, the only thing I can see is my fridge and the oven. I go outside trough my invisible door on my invisble wall and trees and all are white, the path on the ground is black and nothing is visible. I found an earlier build, the most recent stable one. Fuck this.

Yes, the game works fine for me when I added -nosteam and launchinh by the shortcut, but I'm using 64x. The launcher is set for 32x. And by Launcher I had some errors unfortunately. Create a shortcut, right click, Properties, and there should be the path for the file with .exe. Just wrote -nosteam at the end of it (with space between this and the path. Example from me: E:\Project.Zomboid.v41.34\ProjectZomboid64.exe -nosteam

41.34 is cracked? When I run ProjectZomboid64.exe it say that steam must be running EDIT: I just created the shortcut on the desktop, and added -nosteam parameter to the launching options, and it's working.
I keep having an issue where when I try to start up the game via .exe, it says that Steam must be running to play this game (SteamAPI_init() failed) (Even with Launcher.exe), and if I try to start the game with the .bat file, it just doesn't load. Any ideas for a fix?

found this somewhere: "I had the same issue. I opened the file 'ProjectZomboid64.site.json' using notepad and edited this line, from '"-Dzomboid.steam=1", to '"-Dzomboid.steam=0", saved it and fired up the game. That fixed it." then run the game using bat file. worked for me
I heard it has got something to do with the 3D models of the game. Unsure on how to convert the character models back to their original 2D sprites, though. If you could find an older build of the game (around Build 30-35), maybe you'll be able to play the game just fine. I've read in a forum as well that it might also have something to do with your Java Runtime Environment being outdated or perhaps your driver may be outdated as well. If possible, try updating these two.

You can't directly download all the mods from their workshop, but you can use skymods (http://catalogue.smods.ru/game/project-zomboid/) to get a few mods, there's a good number of them. but if you don't see the mod you want there, you can try to manually download it using an online steam workshop downloader, some wont work and some will. then go into PZ and go to the mods tab, It will show you where to place mods in order for them to work
I am trying anything to start it up but it always ends up me kicking out of the game, sometimes if it plays i cannot see anything but white boxes and my random character. Is it a new bug? (Have played it before in 2gb though and it plays fine until the horde comes, but now having a 4gb, it should run decently but somehow i cannot play it anymore- i guess it is corrupted in someway?.)
Is there anybody else crashing their game upon starting a new one? It worked at first, but I can't equip anything, dead zeds don't have loot on them, not even the clothes their wearing, and there is exemption every time I open anything. Now its just strait up closing everytime I try a new game, and looking to lode a previous one every single one of them is marked as dead, with location unknown. Help?
I've tried using the batch files, with 32 version the game crashes before loading a world and 64 crashes after 2 minutes of getting into the world. Any ideas why does this happen? Last working version for me was 41.18 :/

Is the file size less than 5 MB? Did you get the file directly, or have you used an exe? If the answer to any of the questions is yes, you downloaded an ad. Please try downloading the files again and make sure you get the correct ones.
Hey guys, how do I play multiplayer/hamachi with friends on 41.21? I have set -Dzomboid.steam=0 everywhere and ingame multiplayer is still greyed out. Also, when I start the server.bat it can't start, "no such model "null" for Base.BareHands" among other stuff and "map t.bin does not exist", then it throws a couple java exceptions. Thanks
u can try running the ProjectZomboid64 windows batch file right above the ProjectZomboid64 application file, if u run the 32 bit, then try the same but with ProjectZomboid32 files
I don't know yet, I'm going to test it, hopefully the build 41.21 patched. Because with the mistakes of weather and hunger, this build is unplayable. Or you starve or die of cold when October arrives :(
No, it is not the patched build, :( in less than 5 minutes the hunger icon is already red, and arms, forearms and calves are light blue in the cold. You have to wait for a new update to come out, or upload the build patched

Edit: i forgot to mention, in my 2 days of gameplay, there is a weird bug that worlds/saves would somehow mix altogether, thus ruining all of your saves so might wanna make backup saves everyday also dont be tempted to cheat cuz thats for noobs.
Did the same; nothing happened. Therefore, I skipped the character creation and was able to boot up the game just fine. However, after a few minutes of starting the game, it suddenly crashes abruptly. It might have something to do with the 3D models. A link to an older build would be nice. Alternatively, if you know a way to replace the 3D models with the old 2D sprites, that would be very much appreciated as well.

You should make a shortcut of x32 or x64 application then rename it by adding -no steam at the end, the name should be like this: ProjectZomboid64.exe" -nosteam

Can load the game fine, and the game setup screen has no issues but once in a game it runs at 0.0001 fps. took me ten minutes to walk from one end of the room to the other... Any ideas what the issue is? I've tried loading into different maps, and I've tried both the 64 and 32 bit versions.
Found the problem. It was me. Turns out despite having deleted all the old PZ files this version was still trying to load all my old mods and I never thought to specifically check or disable them. ZZZ PEBKAC error.
I'm experiencing the same problem. When I come back whatever building I was in has random fortifications and everywhere I've already looted is regenerated.

Edit project zomboid x64.bat there is a line with 'steam' change to 'nosteam' and always run the game with this if u wanna Play mp,Ur friend must do the same
Go to project zomboid folder and find ProjectZomboid(64/32).json (it depends if your system is 32 bits or 64 bits) then open it using notepad++ find and change: Dzomboid.steam=1 to Dzomboid.steam=0 Then launch the game and click join then open "Internet" tab there will be all internet servers
go to users/yourusername/zomboid and there should be a Mods file to put your mods there, if its not just create one, also when you unzip your mod open it and make sure there is a "http://mod.info" file there, if there is another file with the mod name drag that one instead to the mod file

project zomboid folder is that one where the game exe file is, in this case (assuming you did not change anything) the game folder is the one where you launche your game, just scroll down until you find SmartSteamEmu.ini
Theres a bug. LAUNCHER_x64.exe should be starting 64bit version and thus using ProjectZomboid64.json. Currently is uses ProjectZomboid32.json and memory is limited making most of mods laggish

Ever since the newest update the game crashes seemingly at random on me, sometimes in the first minutes, sometimes after 30, 45 minutes. I have no clue why, never had any issues with all the earlier versions before. 32 and 64 both, but when I start the game with the 64 launcher it still says later when it crashes that the 32 exe doesn't work. Has anyone else similar issues or is it just me? I've already tried downloading it again and deleting the zomboid folder 2 times, didn't fix it. If someone could post some screenshots how their game folder looks like and/or who has any idea what my issue seems to be, the help would be much appreciated.

I had the same issue. You have to read the bottom line which is above the "Back" button in the Mod menue. It says that mods have to be put in the "C:/Users/Tobi/Zomboid/mods/" folder and not in the "C:\Program Files\Project.Zomboid.v41.2\mods/" folder
Host the server with the ProjectZomboidServer.bat in game folder. Use Hamachi or Evolve for VPN. In file ProjectZomboid(32/64).json change -Dzomboid.steam=1 to -Dzomboid.steam=0

only LAN. Try using a vpn like hamachi or tunngle if you need to connect over internet (the later used to work for me).I remember mounting a dedicated server on the same machine i was playing, maybe isnt strictly necessary but i remember it.
Is anyone having any problems opening up the mods options in the game menu? I removed all mods that I had before this update and it still won't open. I can play the game fine but when ever I try to access mods in the main menu the game freezes then shuts down. Does anyone have a fix?
I had same problem, the game was freezing after I launched it for the first time, but I just had to wait like 2-5 minutes, then I got it back to working. However just as I said, my game was only freezing, and it did not shut down.

You dont need to change the path or rename the launcher, just add -nosteam to path on the launcher properties. 1- right click on launcher, create shortcut. 2- right click on shortcut and go to properties 3- On path add:-nosteam at the end 4- Launch game from shortcut When the game menu is loaded you will notice that the Workshop button next to Mods disappeared, thats how you know its working.

Every time I try loading the game it crashes when I play on Win32 and it freezes on Win64 on both 38.3 and the vehicles version. Can anyone please help me with this issue?
Hmmm so now there are two different Project Zomboid? The regular version and the "vehicules" version? 😦 Regular version is v38.30 and vehicules version is v37, apparently?
I got multiplayer working as well, it's not hard just follow these simple steps: 1.Go to you game folder where all the executables are and right click "ProjectZomboid64.bat" (the bat not the .exe) and choose edit 2. At the end of that pile of text (after "zombie.gameStates.MainScreenState" to be precise) press space and type "-nosteam" without the quotes 3. Do the same for "ProjectZomboidServer.bat", add -nosteam after "zombie.network.GameServer" It should work that's how i got mine up and running.
I don't really understand the versions on this. It says Ver 32 but it's actually 38.3. There is a build 31 floating around that has the cars test option.
When you make a new game there is a box you can tick for experimental cars. I've been playing it myself and cars are so handy. I found a bug where the trunk was eating items though on one game and had to start over.
I've spent 3 hours seeing if multiplayer worked i've port forwarded and used hamachi and still haven't been able to get it work. T-T if you happen to find out post a link of what you used or a repost of what you did here please~
You need to create a shortcut of the exe of the game, and add -nosteam in the properties. The Host of the server enter the 127.0.0.1 in game to connect, and the other the IP of the Hamachi or local Ip of the host machine. Works for me. Also, everyone must make the -nosteam thing.
Make sure your computer installed java. Here i installed with java 8 update 144. And i copied all file in fordel java in C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_144 for 64 bit or C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_144 for 32bit. pate and replace in jre or jre64 in fordel game. And it work

The Launcher is only launching the 32 bit version of the game, and knowing I had problems with that version on the past, I tried to launch the 64 bit instead, but it does not work. Solutions?
did u install all the redist in the folder?if that doesn't help I'm not quite sure what to say.But there is one last thing that might help.Try getting an older steam api file from another steam game and dropping it in the folder replacing the new one.I had one version that fixed almost every problem I had.If I can find it I'll try and post it.
Yes, of course I did install all of 'em... The problem is that, When starting a new game on the 32 bit version of the game, be it on previous updates or on this very update, my game crashes. On the other hand, the 64 bit version of the game doesn't... Sadly, this new 'Launcher' (A steam emulator, I presume) only launches the 32 bit exe. , and if I try to change its settings to launch the 64 one, it simply breaks. I shall try that thing of replacing the Steam API from another game I downloaded from this site a while ago, and see if it works... If it doesn't, Then I fear there will be Zeds for me...

Here's something that just might help.Try dloading an older version of Zomboid(as close a version to this one that you can that does work on your computer).Then goto C:\Users(Your Name Folder) and look for Project Zomboid folder there.Copy that folder to desktop and uninstal Project Zomboid.Now install Build 37.7.Delete the new Project Zomboid folder that gets created in C:\Users(Your Name Folder) and then drag the old folder you copied to the desktop in its place.Now try the game.Hope this helps.Peace Out-
the resolution of the game is not supported, try change the resolution un the options.ini in C:\Users(Your Name Folder)\zomboid or delete it (the zomboid folder) it worked for me

I haven't had any issues with any build versions yet and haven't needed steam running either.Build 37.1 works fine as well.Right now Using Windows 7 (x64 processor 1.60Gh - ram 3.75Gb) with all video options at lowest and runs flawless.I haven't ever needed to install any redist yet.I'm not sure what the issue is for you guys but like I said,I haven't had any issues ever with any Build ever released and I'm pretty sure my computers specs are not the best around.

Having issue with starting the game. I open the Win64 and Win32 version and they bring up the CMD, load in items on the screen and then the game just closes. Tried compatibility but didn't work. Any fixes?

Ever heard of Cataclysm; Dark Days Ahead?? This game is like an easier to play version of it. Without having to memories a lot of symbols such as @ for the player and Z for the zombie. :-) Even though Cdda is simple to run on a windows 98 cause of how texted themed it is. This game(Project Zomboid) on the other hand, do not recommend playing on a Windows 98. You know what happens when you play new games on an old computer such as the Commodore 64. Lots of blue screens of death... or black.... or red.

Dude You need to install all needed files (these files are somewhere in the downloadable files) I had the same problem, only installation ALL of this files helped ( C++ , DCx 2008, 2006 , 2012 etc.)
You have to make some kind of virtual server using Hamachi (do not reccomend but sometimes works) Or just google "Lan server services" etc. Hope I helped. :)

Yea, I have the same problem, nothing works, tried 4 solutions but none of them worked, according to what Indie games said, you have to "run this in steam compatibility mode" if you don't game will always start with black screen (You see character, HUD, you can click everyting and move your character but you do not see anything what he is walking on yes?)
since this method of crack is copy all the game core, so it without the registry needed to play online. just like some game here where you need steam in background (offline)"served as temporary registry" and some dont use internet to play (cause the game get wrong registry and forced the game to stop).

So I accidentally messed with the screen options in this game, and I set the game too large. Since all the buttons are on the bottom, there is no way to reset this. I messaged the developers, and they said there should be an options.ini file somewhere in the disk drive but its not there. Since this is the cracked version, I'm wondering where it could be. I really want to play this, and I've tried almost everything. Re-installing and deleting all the folders. Anyone have some insight on this?
I Got project zomboid and i just simply go into multiplayer section choose a name a spawn point traits etc and go into a multiplayer game. its easy. its just really hard to find other people because the map is very big and most servers are 32 player ones

In order to join a multiplayer:
----Playing Without Mods----
You and your friends have to download Radmin VPN
Install Radmin VPN and launch the application.
You will be greeted with Create Network or Join Network
For the Hosts you have to click at create network
-For the Network name, you can name it anything you want
-For the password, can be anything you want.
For your friend, you have to click at join network
-Use the Private Network and not Gaming Network
-Network name will be the same as what host enter
-The password will be the same as what host enter
Next:
If you want to change your name:
YouGamePath/Project.Zomboid.v46.60\settings
locate the file "account_name.txt" or "account_name"
Open it, and change the name. Don't forget to hit save.
Enter the game
For me personally, I enter the game using ProjectZomboid64.bat
For the host:
Click the host and you will be greeted this
You can set server memory to any you want
-Click the manage setting, you can create new settings if you don't have one, or you can edit the one that were already existing.
You will be greeted with this menu
-Leave the port as it is (NOTE: THERE WILL BE A NUMBER ORIGINALLY, I removed in the picture so it doesn't appear.)
-Make sure the public have checkmark
-You can set password if you want
After that set up anything you liked for the server
If the host is ready click save and press start
For your friends
Click join in the menu
-For the IP
Go to Radmin VPN and then right click on the host name, copy IPv4 Address.

-For the server password
If the host set password, you have to enter. Else leave it blank.
-Account Name, Account Password (Needed)
For the account name and password, you can set it to any you like
If you finishes, click add
When joining, if it says "Host must allow you to join"
Tell the host to go into menu, player invite and allow them
If it says "Already authenticating"
Tell the host to go into menu, player invite, click on their username and click invite.
The person who join have to accept the invite, if it doesn't work.
Tell the host to spam the hell of the invite button.
If it says "Joining the server..." or something like that, then it's working.
----Playing With Mods----
If you want to play with mod first you have to change "-Dzomboid.steam=1", to"-Dzomboid.steam=0"
in ProjectZomboid64.json
In order to change you have to open the .json by notepad
Enter the game using .bat file
Don't forget to enable all the mod in "Mods" option at menu
Host have to add the mod in Host>Manage Setting>Edit>Mods
Then enter the game, same as Playing Without Mods
Host and Your friend have to install the same mod.
After that, enjoy the game :)
also don't forget to check out the real game to support the creators ^^
or if you mean the server ip, i just make sure to remove it in case of safety. since i didn't really have much knowledge in networking stuff.
note: in order to save your progress your friend have to join through the server in server list. If join through invite then it will tell you to create new character.

It's annoying starting with the .bat, but it'll have to do until a working patch is provided.
-nosteam argument, get the OnlineFix crack from the previous 41.71-0xdeadc0de release, the online should probably work as well.

after that right click on the shortcut then go to properties.

If you only want to play with your friends and host a private server you can skip all of that port forward stuff and use Radmin instead. Had a blast playing it with some friends already.
Though this probably works, yeah
Host :
- Download and open Radmin VPN and then create a network
- Open PZ and click host (you can change how much ram the server will use here)
- Open the server settings and set it to public on the Details tab (you can also set up a password here if you want)
- Lastly, just start the server, wait till it says server started, and you're good
Friends :- Download Radmin VPN and join the host's network
- Open PZ and click on join to open the server browser
- Insert the host's server password (if any) and Radmin IP, also leave the port as is
- Set your username and password (this is required but it doesn't really matter what you put in)
- Click on save and then you can join the server
Note : I've tested this with the latest version of some mods namely Brita's Armor and Weapon Pack, True actions Act 2 and 3, and minimal display Bars. They seem to work without any errors aside from some desync issues I've had but that might just be my crappy internet connection.Have Fun!

If you play the game with .bat, I dont know. Maybe edit the bat file and put -debug on it?
Edit: If you gonna play the game normally with debug mode, its gonna be boring after few days. I recommend debug mode only for fixing or add item that missed by bug/glitch.

I wasn't complaining but rather pointing out how it seemed strange.
These version have some issues btw, you can't execute Z on floor with weapons and you can't moove some objects. if you like the game you can buy it for around $7 and that help a independant video gaming company. Have Fun.

Go to settings,select system,it should automatically direct to display,look for graphics settings (it should be down at the bottom if you scroll a little bit) and than select classic apps if not already selected and browse for project zomboid,select options and than switch from safe to high performance and the game should work.

Anyway for the new guys out there, (similar to me) its a good game with nice realism to it its not as fast pace as left 4 dead 1 & 2 or thinking that its easy to survive on several nights similar to minecraft just for comparison. The learning curve is high but it makes it fun when you start building your base from the loot you stole from the surrounding buildings.
Pro tip : you can move stuff from your house to block doors and such, and eat the raw food first rather than the canned ones

the only thing you need is the original steam_api.dll of each game, you can try looking for this one, or just set the game appid and inject SSE, i got many games working this way and it never fails.. but it might be tricky sometimes

The game is unplayable. Sure, if you want to say that you can walk several feet out of the starting house before all textures get shot to hell and the memory usage goes up to 3.4GB and CPU goes up all the way to 90%, sure you can play it, for like 2 minutes.
I've already done all the methods mentioned and it's still not working well. It started with textures, sometimes, and gradually gets worse. I figure it is due to the massive memory leak that the programmer never addressed for a long time. The game has so much memory leak that there's not much memory left to render the textures. GPU memory leak is a problem too.
Well, I suppose I can't complain, since I didn't pay for this one. But I assume those who did pay for it would be pretty furious with this version's performance. Heck, if I had paid for it, I would probably go complain about it in their forums and then get banned, because they love banning people. I wonder if they still ban people for asking about NPCs.
I still don't understand. This game used to be great. It used to be playable, but now it's not.
People are having issues booting up the game and I did too but now the map launches and all but.. It's all corrupted. By that I mean that a all bunch of textures are white blocks and some (well, most) of them are missing.

Create a shortcut, right click, Properties, and there should be the path for the file with .exe. Just wrote -nosteam at the end of it (with space between this and the path. Example from me:
E:\Project.Zomboid.v41.34\ProjectZomboid64.exe -nosteam

I've read in a forum as well that it might also have something to do with your Java Runtime Environment being outdated or perhaps your driver may be outdated as well. If possible, try updating these two.

Only thing you may try for now is local multi with Steam Controller as it apparently worked.
...however for the hunger idk cuz i have very underweight trait and i keep getting peckish/hungry every 2-3 hours (ingame) even after being full, not sure if its the very underweight trait or due to burning too much fats nonetheless its playable.
Edit: i forgot to mention, in my 2 days of gameplay, there is a weird bug that worlds/saves would somehow mix altogether, thus ruining all of your saves so might wanna make backup saves everyday also dont be tempted to cheat cuz thats for noobs.

I can't find another site keep the game up to date.
Step 1: Navigate to the Project Zomboid folder and open SmartSteamEmu.ini in NOTEPAD.
Step 2: Find the line where it says Target = ProjectZomboid32.exe and change it to Target = ProjectZomboid64.exe
Step 3: Save and close, and you are now launching with the 64bit EXE when using the LAUNCHER_x64.
In the Options.ini make the following changes (leave it windowed):
bMultithreadedRendering=false
zoom=false
textureCompression=true
texture2x=false
Then try launching the game.
you can find the options.ini in C:\Users\Name\Zomboid you can upvote this so that others can see it too
when i look in the command prompt of the game it says that if failed to load somthing i think its a map

Ever since the newest update the game crashes seemingly at random on me, sometimes in the first minutes, sometimes after 30, 45 minutes. I have no clue why, never had any issues with all the earlier versions before. 32 and 64 both, but when I start the game with the 64 launcher it still says later when it crashes that the 32 exe doesn't work. Has anyone else similar issues or is it just me?
I've already tried downloading it again and deleting the zomboid folder 2 times, didn't fix it.
If someone could post some screenshots how their game folder looks like and/or who has any idea what my issue seems to be, the help would be much appreciated.

1- right click on launcher, create shortcut.
2- right click on shortcut and go to properties
3- On path add:-nosteam at the end
4- Launch game from shortcut
When the game menu is loaded you will notice that the Workshop button next to Mods disappeared, thats how you know its working.
And i just downloaded that dll and it says that still.

1.Go to you game folder where all the executables are and right click "ProjectZomboid64.bat" (the bat not the .exe) and choose edit
2. At the end of that pile of text (after "zombie.gameStates.MainScreenState" to be precise) press space and type "-nosteam" without the quotes
3. Do the same for "ProjectZomboidServer.bat", add -nosteam after "zombie.network.GameServer"
It should work that's how i got mine up and running.
Here i installed with java 8 update 144.
And i copied all file in fordel java in C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.8.0_144 for 64 bit or C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.8.0_144 for 32bit.
pate and replace in jre or jre64 in fordel game.

This game is like an easier to play version of it.
Without having to memories a lot of symbols such as @ for the player and Z for the zombie. :-)
Even though Cdda is simple to run on a windows 98 cause of how texted themed it is.
This game(Project Zomboid) on the other hand, do not recommend playing on a Windows 98. You know what happens when you play new games on an old computer such as the Commodore 64. Lots of blue screens of death... or black.... or red.
