pardon my necro (text wall ahead) but...as far as i can tell and going by the screenshots here... the idea(s) behind this game may be similar to that bizarre japanese thing um...a trading card game where girls think they are literally battleships...an anime where girls literally believe they are tanks...another anime where girls literally think they are guns... overall it's one of the more WTF?! ideas i've seen come from japan. i truly don't understand it nor do i really want to. going by the screenshots here it's a case of people who think they are pigeons. o_O i...really don't know what to say to these things tbh. it's incredibly strange and kinda disturbing to my mind. one thing that does stick out in regards to this game and all those other things though is this: these people have some SERIOUS problems in regards to being capable of differentiating fantasy from reality. wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hatoful_Boyfriend "Hatoful Boyfriend is set in an alternate version of Earth in which sapient, anthropomorphic birds have seemingly taken the place of humans in society for reasons that are hinted at, but not fully explained in the dating simulation portion of the game. They are not people who think they are birds. They are actually birds. The only reason the screenshots show humans is because it's basically a sort of 'this is what the person would look like if they were human' but they are all definitely birds. You are the only human in a school comprised of nothing but highly intelligent birds. (Birds in this society are basically the same as anybody else). A very basic google search will tell you all of this. Yes it sounds ridiculous and it is ridiculous and that's exactly the charm of it. Beastiality? When did the character ever have sex with the birds? The bird dating is supposed to be taken tongue in cheek and the characters are showed with human portraits to start because the story is still basically based around it being like humans. And again, the dating part is just a joke about dating sims. The real story has absolutely nothing to do with that. The actual story instead has a mystery drama and humans are the lesser comin species. And again if you think about beastiality then that's your own issues because sex is never even touched upon.
