JA 1 is still one of my most memorable gaming experiences. I picked up the game after seeing it in magazines and playing the demo (remember those? lol) on a family trip when my parents bought it for me. I was like 13 at the time and I still remember how absolutely awesome the interaction between the characters was and it was one of the most difficult, and rewarding strategy games I've ever played in my whole life, to this day even. They haven't came close to the brilliance of JA 1 (lots of people liked modded JA 2 but 1 is where its at!). 23 years later and we still don't have this level of interaction between NPCs like the original Jagged Alliance did. If you enjoy strategy games like Silent Storm or XCOM you will love Jagged Alliance. Too bad this is bad. You just knew it from the name, though, like hey how boring could we be with the IP? Anyone have a friend at Firaxis so they can take this IP over?
Took the same route as you did, played this on a demo CD disk from a promo mag. Enjoyed the girl...i mean mag, and played with the CD and could not put it down. I thought JA was brilliant. There are similar good games as such gem or even better, but to memory lane, it was a good ride. We still have loads of good teams out there to craft decent games. The problem lies with the publishers wanting to rush projects out of the door to make the deadlines.
i agree completely. JA1 and JA2 are just amazing games. Just comparing this joke of a game to even the first game is hilarious. Even in JA1 you could have 6 mercs... this game only 2 lol? AND, even in JA1 you had like 40 or 50 mercs to choose from. But in JA2, you had like almost 70 mercs to choose from. Could have like 50-60+ active mercs during gameplay in JA 1.13. Just awesome. And this game you can have 2... ya 2 people... This game took the Jagged Alliance name? Not sure why, the game was a cult classic and few know it... why take the name and drag it through the mud? People may think Jagged Alliance 1 and 2 are trash like this game, just insulting to the legends at Sir-Tech. I notice they got Ivan in here, but the character isn't even him. Ivan is supposed to be a sleek/agile and witty cold war Russian. This game they made him a clunky chunk of garbage with the intellect of a trashcan. Almost makes me wonder if people who made this game are trying to kill Jagged Alliance for good by creating a steaming pile of garbage to forever ruin the classic game.
Dude None of their games were that great come on! Yeah the first one was ok but it wasn't the greatest game ever. It was a low budget thrown together game. I keep seeing people act like Jagged Alliance went to shit. No, it's kinda always been shit.
Same here. I gave up on expecting a proper sequel so I prefer to play the good old JA2 with patch 1.13 or some mods... I don't have the courage to try this one. Tell us more later!
If this game not use Jagged Alliance on it's title or content, it might getting a little positive attitude. Instead, the developer using it with hope the old JA's fans gonna buy it, well many did and the result is backfire as many felt it's a trap instead a reboot or sequel. Now all they got is a bad reception, as definitely every old JA fans will compare it to the original. It's a simple game like made by small or indie developer. The other title after JA2 was "trying" to continue or reboot the franchise ... but this, this thing, this game ... is just a diabolical child that should've never be existed in the first place.
Downloading to test then to buy. if this game is like JA and JA2 (which were epic for their time and many decades after) I defently will spend some bucks to this game! Thanx IGG Didnt even know there were going to be a new Jagged Alliance :) :D
