Hmmm... I had this problem a lot of the time... I installed Microsoft visuals C++ 2005, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2015, 2017. Seems to fix most of my problems!
the top down rpg maker game is consideted the prequel to this, but this game is an alternate iuniverse, with multiple endings. and it's point and click, yes.
