What's with the hate? This game was great when I played it years ago and it holds up today. Strong atmosphere, clever use of a world map system, awesome gunslinging gameplay. And holy shit does it get hard from time to time.

what is wrong with this shit game? if I bought this game I gonna rate this shit out of ten. I just enter world map and somehow encounter enemies and my first battle doesn't even fucking give a quick tutorial. I try to figure out how to battle but still I like an idiot out there. fucking stupid can't even win a first battle. retry more than 10 time but still game over. normally they support to give an option or button guide. but here it is a no. no tutor no shit.
anyone looking to download the texture pack right now... It uh, it told me 6 weeks though bittorent. is 4k really worth that much time? I mean, sure I could play another game in the meantime... while this baby keeps going in the background every day for 6 weeks and I forget anyway. Not trying to put any blame on anyone, but 6 weeks? Nah man... I'll settle for the regular 1080p gaming lol.

What you said in your first post is correct. The game has 1080 textures, the HD edition texture package boosts them to 4k HD. The title says 4k because that is the official title for the game on Steam, it is the title this version was marketed with, and the 4K texture pack is included with the Steam download, it's just optional if you want to install it or not.
I need help REAL bad. I accidentally deleted my 30h save file. I installed a program to recover deleted files, but i just can't find it, since there's thousand of files. I tried narrowing down to recent files, but it's still a TON of them. I need to know the exact file names to recover, i guess. Any help, PLEASE? :(
Try this: If there is a file in the game-directory called steam_emu.ini(should be since it is codex version) ,You can open it with a text-editor like note-/wordpad(just right-click the ini file and choose open with note/wordpad). There is a line like this: Game data is stored at %SystemDrive%\Users\Public\Documents\Steam\CODEX????? (Questionmark would be a number in your case).there you find your saveplace-folder at least and see in that folder how the savename is.of course you need to save in the game,otherwise the folder is empty. I hope it helps.
I think i found the true location but, the plot thickens...The file name is ROF_001.bin. If i delete it, the save is gone from the game. The thing is: using the deleted file resotaration software, i can only locate the save i've just created/deleted. My old 30h game doesn't come up in the search :O /edit: Maybe i can only locate this new saves using the recovery software because this saves i deleted manually. When i accidentely deleted my old save ingame, the save file wasn't manually deleted by me, the game itself deleted it. Maybe thats why the file isn't coming up on the search results. So, yeah, maybe its gone for good :(
I found it, but there only two files (achievements and leaderboards) plus two folders, local and remote. It seems that the saves are stored somewhere else :( Anyway, i REALLY appreciate you taking the time and trying to help, man.
Can I ask what is texture pack. and why it is so big. is that the real 4k pack or something? may I ask if the game by codex is in 1080p or 720p. I don't want 720p that's ps3

It's not a problem of your CPU. They announced release a patch for memory problem and etc. If you check task manager, you can see memory of video card reaches limit just as the title logo appears.
That may be true. But also, I was looking at the error log, and it said something about visual c looking for a cpu instruction that didn't exist on my cpu and that's when it crashed.
owh c'mon that's really lazy af, not everyone has super speed with torrent, been waiting since last night for HD texture in G Drive/Megaup please upload it to relevant hosts, rather than prioritizing mini indie games that no one care to download
Played it myself way back, on the xbox 360. It was a fun game with interesting ideas for how to separate types of guns. Don't recall the exacts but I do recall it was a fun game. Look forward to playing it again.
If you have an xbox one elite controller, use it. If you have a PC controller, use it. PS4 controller doesn't really work for this game. You could try to add to steam as a none steam game and it will work with gamepad setup.
I bought this game for both my xbox 360 and PS3. It is a very hard game to play and it is the first that have RPG FPS JP style in it. I remember I quit playing because of how hard it was. Now this game is hard to get for Xbox 360 and PS3 so I'm glad I can finally got the chance again on the PC. I will get my revenge on this game causing me to quit. I won't quit until I beat it.
Oh ok and thats not included and than crash it i think ok thats than ok than must we play first for low ok^^ Let it for First Low fix the Crash And this game have sound issues i think hope for patches.
Played this on my 360 back then. Not an easy game, in my opinion. Got stuck and pretty much gave up. But now, with cheat engine, I might see the rest of the game.

Control Panel>System & Security>System>Advanced System Settings>Advanced tab>Performance settings>Advance tab>Virtual Memory change... Select custom size: Initial 4096 / Max 6144 Make sure you hit Set afterwards to save it
thanks a lot,solved the poblem here and if i guessed well this fix shall work for the star ocean the last hope as well,if anyone is having this issue after changing the memory try rebooting the pc before playing the game
the High Resolution Texture itself is 67 GB, that's ridiculous, it reminds me of Star Ocean that recently remastered and also from the same developer with 55 GB size, i'm sure it's real size is only 10-11 GB or so almost bought this game after knew that the game size will be 83 GB, it's like FF XV, hoping that the game will get me 100+ hours of gameplay aside of the side quests (if any) so glad i didn't
the size is only 13gb though. Its worth playing cuz how often do you see these special themed JRPGs. the gameplay is fine as well. you could download it here and give it a shot first before buying it though. i will buy if my HD Texture pack request wasnt going to be entertained =p
yeah, of course it's worth playing, i'm more into J-RPG than Western just kinda sad it's only 13 GB, i know it's just remaster of PS3 (tho i had PS3 and the game, but never had the chance to play this one so i forgot the size too) i'm gonna buy it too if the Hi-Res texture isn't/can't cracked, it's pointless to play 8 years old game port without pluses i'm sure IGG is still uploading all the parts, should be about 14 parts or so, i'm gonna searching NFO of Codex for the release to gain info about the Hi-Res
Sadly IGG won't bother uploading other than torrent, even this site owner has no knowledge that 4K textures doesn't mean u HAVE to own 4K monitor/4K capable GPU, sigh
yea i completely understand that. You can still enjoy 4k even though you dont own a 4k capable monitor. you can still notice a sharper image, its jsut that its not a true 4k quality. but still better than native 1080P. Well i torrented it and then go to sleep. and it took me 5 hours to install the texture pack xD 5 hours for installation, not downloading
FYI : All you need to do is install the game and update from V1 to V1.0.0.4 and Enjoy!!

Select custom size: Initial 4096 / Max 6144
Make sure you hit Set afterwards to save it
