It's extremely uncommon to shift within a franchise from porn to not, but I believe you if you assert it with such certainty. Either way, I enjoy well-written story, whether or not pornography is present, so good VNs are a guilty pleasure of mine. I don't sweat the details and just get reading.
Even worse are the idiots who comment in every VN game post about how its "sick/gross/disgusting" or something to that extent and that they can't believe why people play it. They just see VN and automatically think it is hentai/porn.... SMH.
Some of the best stories I've ever read were pornographic. Among the best VN stories I've read, only one was not pornographic. While the ones with shit story will almost always try to rely on porn to grab attention, the ones with porn won't necessarily always fail to focus on telling a good story.
