Totally agree. "This is how KoF should be".
Not each and every fighting game needs to be upgraded into 3D and "updated as time changes". Some are amazingly wonderful in sprite/ 2D like the Guilty Gear and Melty Blood series, and of course older KoF. Maybe for Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter, and Street Fighter, 3D looks great and suits them well in gameplay and mechanics.
For KoF, 3D elements and effects are fine, 3D fighters are not. I was totally disappointed when XIV came up. Now they just announced that KoF XV is in development. I hope they'll go back to 2D sprites; not likely though.

they moved to 3D cuz its more cheap

Is it possible to play it online?

Im certain. GOG has no DRM or anything.. So its almost useless to crack GOG versions. Some Steam versions of games that are cracked are able to be played online actually for example my cracked KoF 2002 UM can play Multiplayer as long as i launch it with steam.

Is this any different from regular KoF XIII? Used to have it on my 360, the 4 disc soundtrack that came with the pre-order was amazing.

I googled, they say GOG is DRM free or something and i think Galaxy Edition of KOF XIII uses Galaxy Cilent if i remember correctly.
