Hey @disqus_5EowgLayMD:disqus . I had this issue too. Windows Defender blocks the steam_api.dll from running. Here's how to fix it: 0. Make sure to delete the Treadnauts game folder you have first. Have the zipped folder downloaded but not extracted yet.
Run Windows Defender Security Center
Click Virus & Threat Protection
Click Virus & Threat Protection Settings
Turn off Real-Time Protection
Extract your fresh copy of Treadnauts
Scroll down to Exclusions, click Add or Remove Exclusions
Click Add an Exclusion
Click Add Folder
Select the main folder in which the game is installed, i.e. Treadnauts.v.0.76-hotfix/ and add the folder
Click Add an Exclusion
Click File
In the folder Treadnauts.v.0.76-hotfix/Treadnauts, select steam_api.dll
Click Add an Exclusion
Click File
In the folder Treadnauts.v.0.76-hotfix/Treadnauts, select steam_api64.dll
Once ALL steps are completed, go to Windows Defender Security Center
Click Home, then Virus & Threat Protection, then Virus & Threat Protection Settings, and turn Real-Time Protection back on.
RUN YOUR GAME, treadnauts.exe
***I recommend to modify your ali213.ini to the following. Copy and replace with these settings, if you want to play online. The game is not updated to the latest version, so it says there's problems joining lobbies. Replace PlayerName with your own name. It's currently myNameIs, so change it to something custom!
