Guys... I think I solved the issue for v5 pack where we run but there are no process in task manager. I solved it just now. What I do is "run with graphic crad" (right click the game) and chose Nvidia processor (my detault is intel graphic card). Then I got error message since I need it to change the default processor at Nvidia menu... after making the "game.exe" run as Nvidia by default, I reopen the game again with "Run as Administrator"... When I just lost hope... it suddenly run. Then when I load and enter into new chptr, the game continue to run XD EDIT: Its look like I can't run the game again after 2 days of playing... but I manage to run it again by extracting V3 pack and V5 pack repeatedly untill V5 pack able to launch again... (took 3 tries/ loop)
Im sorry to ask but, after the end of first chapter, and saving the game shows a black screen and after that says there was an error, closing the game, any ideas about what can i do? Thanks

When I leave town the graphics goes from okay to the field being foggy and kinda hard to see and its hurting my eyes, anyone getting this issue? I didn't get it when v5 was released but now its just happening everytime I'm around monsters
oh dear... that's not an issue, it's was a weather effect by the game default, there are several weather effect change on day schedule. go back into your inn, rest for another day and go back out. and sorry, I'm trying my best not to laugh.
why can't you extract the files? if it said the files were corrupted, re-download and try again. if it still the same thing, turn off your anti-virus software, update winrar to the latest version.
OK Please someone tell me what I have to do when everything is downloaded (all 3 parts of the game and crack v5) because I don't understand anything like why I have 3 "game" and why is any of them working. Please Help
oh my lord... extract all 3 part into the same folder, after that extract the v5 crack and put the files into the game folder you just extracted. and pls don't even ask why you have to download all 3 part that had the same files, I might get piss off -_-
Doesn't work it says I have to run the game with the admin's rights. And don't worry I know why I have to download the 3 parts, it's just that because I found the game file in 3 different folders( 2 in the game's folder and 1 in the crack), I wanted to know which one I am supposed to run in the end
Right click on the game.exe, select "Properties", go to the comparability tab and tick the box next to "run this program as an admin". Click apply then ok and start the game normally.

if you're using ds4windows, it may be due to that directinput vs xinput problem some games have. go look up how to setup x360ce and see if that works. uh...actually...here: http://www.x360ce.com/ gonna assume you're using windows 10 64-bit so download the x64 version then in the rar file, drag & drop x360ce_x64 to where you installed the game (where the exe is). double click x360ce_x64 and it'll probably popup a config notification or something. let it do the auto detect thing then set the buttons like so: this is what the button layout should be set to to match that of a ps4 controller. after that you should simply need to go to the "game settings" tab and tick the following: in the file name column: x360ce.exe and this games exe if it appears in the list. off to the right hand side, tick: COM, DI, PIDVID and down where it has different 32-bit and 64-bit version columns tick 32-bit 1.3. once that's all done check and see if the game detects your controller and works properly.

I use crack v5 and I also have this error when I close the game. Another problem I see is that the atialising does not work the characters are serrated
right click game.exe, and then click "propeties", select "compatility", then checklist "Run this program in compability mode for:" and the last is select windows 7 or 8/8.1 (if you using windows 10 now) and dont forget run the game with administrator
All i did was install the game. The game should have it installed by default. If you don't see it on the options at all, i have no idea what you have done. You go to options, go to where it says 'voice' and simply change it to japanese.

Yep. They fixed the issue. And it was hardware based like I said. It's just simple deduction. Like Sherlock Holmes once said: "Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth." You have to see relations and differences. What was different about someone whose crack worked and someone whose didn't. I guess those Criminal Justice and Critical Thinking courses in college paid off. ;-)
Started from scratch with V5. I'm six hours in. Even did a Grimoire Dungeon. So barring a late game "wtf?! I think that V5 is "the crack" until they put out patches for the game or the like.
It's the usual delayed start, yes. I extracted into the same folder I had the game in before with the v2 crack there. It replaced all those files and works great!
For me V2 is most comptible one. i even grinding for an 4 hrs now and still no sign an error. Sometimes after a scene sound like "buzz" is coming i thought i will crash but it's not. i still play using V2
i'm using Crack v1 , at OP 6 Capriccio of the Strong ( Original Mode ) , i know Voksi already make V2 - V4 , still v1 is playable for me ~ just need to always save whenever at City or near Tent .. Good Luck ~

Step 1- Go to igggames website on your web browser Step 2- Download the torrent from that site, using whatever torrent downloader software you use ( I use qBittorent) Step 3- Once your torrent has completed the download , open the folder. Step 4- Once inside the folder, extract the files from game.exe, once extracted, leave this window on standby ( we'll call this "Window A") Step 5- Go to you web browser and type in "shining resonance refrain crack v4 voksi", ( note: you may have to scroll down or go to the next page of the search results in order to find the website) the website will be called 102 Zippyshare Step 6- Once on 102 Zippyshare, click " Download Now". Once the The download is complete, you will need a virtual drive to open the file. ( I use Daemon tools) Step 7- Once the file is opened using your virtual drive, this is where the tricky part comes in. This window of files will look very similar to the files extracted in "Step 4". (We will call this "Window B") Step 8- Put both Window "A" and "B" side by side. I dont really know, im just taking you through the method I used, and I don't think you will be able to open the crack folder from zippyshare without some type of .rar or .iso reader.( Winrar may do the trick as well.)

Salute for u. cuz of this comment i extract anew again my game folder and apply the crack V2. until the op2 sequence is up, i skip it including every scene in the inn cuz i already see it on V4 until i meet the king. after that i'm playing normal for now.
dunno if it's has connection. when i try this V2, i set only windowed, 30 fps and low-end. i skip every scene came up so ur hand must stedy on "esc" button after u fight the dragon cuz so many scene after that. i not skip only when meeting the king cuz it's new for me. also uninstal all ur windows update if ur OS is pirate, cuz i read in cs.rin someone complain bout his/her crack not work anymore cuz windows update. hope it's works
I got it to work using someone's save files they linked here and the V2 crack. It loaded into the town in Opus 2 and I am continuing from there. I will post if it crashes when I get to Opus 3 or if it crashes beyond that.

It's not cpu related, so I'm not completely sure why it crashes, I can't reproduce the issues, but anyways the cracks are still more or less in test phase, so from time to time this got to be expected. wait, so he IS still working on the game, that cool, but what does he mean next update, the next time that the game updates? what if the game does not recibe an update.
So, if it's not CPU related, then maybe it's GPU related. When you narrow it down, it has to be hardware or maybe software installed. People are using the same technique to try to get v4 to work right and it crashes for nearly everyone at O2. So, there is something that is unique to the systems where it actually works for them. If it isn't GPU, then maybe it has something to do with Windows? Other than that, I have no idea. But, SOMETHING is different about the PC's of people where it works and nearly all of us where it doesn't.
I think it maybe GPU . For me it is using Intel Integrated instead of my Nvdia . I cant seem to change it . Its kinda like how Akiba's trip is , when you use Integrated the game will launch but it will be black screen
yeah v4 is the newest but some reported and also by myself says that the game wont load, freeze and having a black screen by applying the crack. Some say v1 and v3 works but crashes for many at Op2 or at Op3.

well, unfortunately it seems all that comes up when duckduckgo/googling this error message is the fact that this failed crack has caused a fairly big stir everywhere when it comes to game cracking. and...i didn't see much in the way of solutions but it is a known problem so maybe if another group manages to succeed where this voksi person failed we'll get a working crack.
why dude ? xD, we can keep on playing and found the issue, and let the cracker or player know is there any issue to fix it just as you suggested the core affinity fix. otherwise, buy the game if you wanna play it smoothly.
It's specific to people's PC's how it crashes for some and not for others. It's the exact same game and the exact same crack. Yet, it crashes for some at O2 and others earlier or later.

Uh in case you didn't know. "Japanese" means Japan-ese language. And with the "voice" description on its side, it means the voice in game is in Japanese. But if you're talking about the "text" language. That, I can't help you with. Conclusion: be more specific.

does this franchise even know what it WANTS to be anymore? the "shining" franchise has veered so far from what it originally was that it's virtually unrecognizable now. "Dragons were long thought to be extinct, and because Yuma holds the ability to transform into the Shining Dragon, he was taken as a captive of the Empire." what? let me go check a let's play real quick so i know what the F this game is even trying to be. hmmm... nothing remotely TRPG related... this looks to be a cross between a visual novel and a action rpg... so...this is only related to shining force in name only. i'll pass on this not-shining game. maybe i'll try a "shining" game the next time a "shining" game wants to be part of the real "shining" franchise instead of some visual novel rpg riding on the namesake of the older games.
The Shining series was always varied tho, the first Shining game was called "Shining in the Darkness" and was a dungeon crawler, Shining Force came after as a TRPG, then Shining Wisdom for the Saturn was an action RPG, same as the Shining games for the gba, it was always varied.
sega should try and finally decide what they actually want this franchise to be. it's the same problem they have always had with the sonic the hedgehog franchise. the whole franchise is a scattered mess at the best of times like they have no idea what they actually want it to be. instead, they just keep throwing things at it to see what does or doesn't stick. as for the shining franchise. iirc i stopped playing it after it stopped being "shining force" and started becoming the unrecognizable thing it is today. at least mario has never veered too far off course from what it originally was but some of these old IPs... it's like the owners no longer have any idea what they actually want to do with them any more and have resorted to just sticking the names on random experiments. though...it's still better than the fates of the castlevania and metal gear IPs. :(

I don't think Voksi will update anymore crack version until the official game released new patch so we will have to play with one version of crack (from V1-V4) For me I can play the game fine until now (3 hours in gameplay near the end of op2) but V1 and V4 crashed. I play use V2 with turn Core0 off in affinity. U guys should try any version with turn Core0 off too. It may work for u.

wow, today I learn a new lesson, in any case, I'm new in pc games and I guess that I have a long way still to learn ... I learn today that I shouldn't be from the first group of ppl that download a game xD just after a game site like this post links about it, I remember that I download this game before this page have more than 2 or 3 comments now it have more than 300 comments most of it complaining about the crack folder xD. and guess what also this the second time that I download this game because at the first there was no crack and I didn't notice that now the crack not working and I waste more than 22 Gbit from my limited internet in the previous two times download that I tried before lol, and I don't feel like I wanna waste another 12 Gbit at least until the next two month when I buy another internet ........................ oooh god that so much time at least try to say it is a test or beta or something man before i waste my internet xD lol

are this game is that short ? people already in chapter 4 or even more after 1 day releases , how long each chapter usually takes? i expect there'll be a lot of grinding for this game, its jrpg though
HLTB clocks it at 40 hours for main story. There's 2 campaigns so maybe 20 hours each. The first Opus is short coz it's sort of a prologue. I've completed the second Opus at 5 hours in game, playing at normal speed without doing any side quests. I'd say it's a decently long game.

So... Managed to get into Op3 with V4 (5-ish hours). V3 got me to the middle of Op2 (3-ish hours) before I got the error. V4 hasn't crashed on me yet but I'm probably done playing for the day.
Specs of your machine? I downloaded the game version on this very page. It un-rar'd into a directory of the game. I applied the V4 crack to the game, deleted the 'generator' directory, played it from the beginning (all new save file) and it crashed at the beginning of Opus 2 AGAIN. My Specs: CPU: Pentium G4560 3.50Ghz (2 cores, 2 threads) Memory: 16GB DDR4 2133Mhz RAM GPU: EVGA GTX 1050 SC 2GB GDDR5 VRAM Windows 10 - Fully updated
Yeah, the last time I played a JRPG like this which had active combat was Star Ocean. The turn based ones are OK. But, I want to be able to run around. I have nearly all the Tales games, though, on various systems.
@rika - ni no kuni us also worth the purchase, but I feel it has different combat, it's more akin to MMORPG combat, maybe simialr to neptunia 4 goddess

Guys don't sweat it, neither crack works. Doesn't matter if it's v1, v2, v3 or v4. The vast majority of people on reddit, cs.rin and torrent sites all have the same issue - crashes triggered by cutscenes mainly. Voksi conveniently said that "he can't replicate the crashes, so he can't fix them" and a bunch of other lame excuses. I am grateful for his work on denuvo, but let's be honest here, there was no reason to release this faulty crack that makes the game literally unplayable without flagging it as "experimental" or "beta" or something. It only confused a bunch of people. I hope some other scene group releases a proper crack.
The crack is apparently working for a select few people. It HAS TO be hardware based because I did the exact same things they did to make it work - right down to the letter! - and it consistently crashes at the beginning of Opus 2.
Yeah, it's probably something to do with hardware. I remember when Nier Automata first got cracked it also had a lot of problems too, and only a select few people didn't have problems. A lot of bitching and drama during that time as well. It eventually got fixed.

Well, deleting the directory deleted my save files. So, I gotta start over from the beginning. This may be a while. Will report back if I make it past Opus 2. I deleted the 'generator' folder as well.
Buy the game, which i do not recommend. Simply because it's quite the "weak" game all things considered.
Wait for 2 days minimum to a max of about a week for a proper crack. I tried running this with v1, 3 and 4. I was able to play through op2 with no crashes but it crashed on op3 no matter what i did (v4). So yea, I'll just wait for a bit.
Well, one person on here said that the crack works perfectly for them and that they made it past Opus 2 where it crashes for nearly all of us. And I heard someone say that Voksi said that the crack is picky about the CPU. If he said that or not, I don't know. But, it would be hardware-specific if it works for that 1 person and not the rest of us.
Someone downvoted my comment on the crackwatch website where I let people know that the crack is crashing for nearly everyone. I just don't get people sometimes.
i read from cs.rin that some work only with crack V1 or V3 and some just like us still waiting for the correct crack. so for them who downvoted ur comment might have been a lucky guy cuz crack V1 or V3 work for them.
Delete the previously Game folder, and extract it again. after that apply the crack. and also delete "Generator" folder cuz i read volski said that he forget to delete that.

I went to the site and checked the links. Now, I'm gonna do a full scan on my machine. I didn't download anything from there. But, sometimes, just GOING to those sites can put crap on your PC. Thanks the gods for ADW-Cleaner and Hitman.
Unless you have a specific CPU, it will crash at the beginning of Opus 2. It ran nicely for me as well. I like it and I'm not that into Anime or JRPGs that much!
Idk what version of crack this one has, but there's a V3 already uploaded by voksi just google it. Might fix whatever error you guys are experiencing. (I Haven't played the game yet to test it out. Still playing YS 8)
Where does it crash exactly? Coz I'm into Opus 2, well on my way to finishing the first quest and it hasn't crashed on me yet. Stopped playing at the first campfire outside the city.
It might be with certain hardware that it crashes. Maybe your hardware is compatible with the crack past the beginning of Opus 2 (before the opening cutscene). But, for most of us, that's right where it gives the 'malfunction' error.
It's the crack. It causes the error in chapter 2. Everyone is experiencing it. We have to wait for a new version of the crack - or a better one - comes out.
they just paste older crack file and hope for it to work and when they do they post it. it's not a proper crack, you'll get crash-fiesta throughout the game
Crack v3 still can't play further than beginning of op2. u can skip the very first scene by press Esc but after next scenes (chat-received new 2 traits) the game still crush anyway. So wait for v4 crack.
I can confirm. The game just crashed at the beginning of Op2 and I was in the middle of streaming it. It seems like a decent game. I'll probably budget it in for August. Until then, I'll wait like everyone else for V4.
Unlocked version is for real buyer. It's just like preload version you get before time release, so when the game release, you won't download big amount of game data. cracked game data have different data than unlocked version, that's why crack won't work on unlocked version
When you about to fight the soldier run around a bit and let them strike you a few time and try pressing X a few times before you press B or Y... This is how I got pass that error guys

The game hanged (black screen) when i tried to exit from the game to the main menu, i had to shut it down form the task manager but that is i minor thing, when i exit the game it shows a message saying that the game has malfunctioned but that,s just after i exit the game.

you are better off just waiting here. Linking you to the page would have to wait for the mod's approval. you would be downloading 11 gb in one file and you would need to apply the crack yourself. As the cracker provided the game too, i guess these files in this pages are unusable with the crack anyway

actually it was $45 if you pre-ordered it digitally on Switch. but now that its out even digitally its $50 lol. i don't have a preference for RPGs in handheld or stationery tbh. i do like my shooter games on PC with mouse to aim more than consoles but Switch remedies that using gyro support to aim instead which is a godsend love it for the ports of Doom & Wolfenstein 2 so damn much.
long story driven games are fantastic on portable devices. makes grinding easier when your away from home and have time to waste. anyways i find running the game in portable mode the framerate is much more stable then docked. kinda weird. perhaps the lower resolution helped. i rarely play docked mode i don't care lol.
your reasoning makes sense hmm idk about framerate, seems to the opposite for docked to handheld. being in handheld it makes playing most 3D graphics intense games feel like they're from PS2/Gamecube era some times, like Xenoblade 2 for example. so it sounds bad but i kinda like the nostalgia :3
The card system is no reason to hate the remake. I didn't like the card system either, thus i never had Molock(or whatever his name was) in my party, simple as that. Scene is pretty much dead, regarding Denuvo. Codex and Cpy are nowhere to be seen, Skydrow isn't worth a penny, pratically only Voksi, who isn't part of a scene group, is working on Denuvo. He already said he is going to crack every Sega's game released this and next month. And this game is made by Sega
i agree with him though, if there's some games that i really want to play but uses denuvo then i'll buy it, but with games that i didn't want to play immediately (such as this game) i'll just pirate it. and there's some consideration to go with the original in some cases such as steam mod-support in Cities Skylines (which i pirated at first, then buy it because of the steam workshops huge library)
i know that, but i don't want to be bothered with updating each mods everytime there's a patch to the game. not to mention the mod link often broken. and i got the game while there's a Summer Sale so it's a bargain.

I wouldn't know. Shining Force 2 was really the last one i played to completion. I tried to play Exa but i didn't like it all that much. No scratch that, the GBA remake was the last one i trully played. And i still do sometimes

So i extracted the game, also downloaded the v5 stuff and extracted, run the game game.exe aaaaand nothing happened. Like legit nothing.
What do I do?
What I do is "run with graphic crad" (right click the game) and chose Nvidia processor (my detault is intel graphic card). Then I got error message since I need it to change the default processor at Nvidia menu... after making the "game.exe" run as Nvidia by default, I reopen the game again with "Run as Administrator"...
When I just lost hope... it suddenly run. Then when I load and enter into new chptr, the game continue to run XD
EDIT: Its look like I can't run the game again after 2 days of playing... but I manage to run it again by extracting V3 pack and V5 pack repeatedly untill V5 pack able to launch again... (took 3 tries/ loop)

that's not an issue, it's was a weather effect by the game default, there are several weather effect change on day schedule.
go back into your inn, rest for another day and go back out.

gonna assume you're using windows 10 64-bit so download the x64 version then in the rar file, drag & drop x360ce_x64 to where you installed the game (where the exe is).
double click x360ce_x64 and it'll probably popup a config notification or something. let it do the auto detect thing then set the buttons like so:
this is what the button layout should be set to to match that of a ps4 controller.
after that you should simply need to go to the "game settings" tab and tick the following:
in the file name column: x360ce.exe and this games exe if it appears in the list.
off to the right hand side, tick: COM, DI, PIDVID and down where it has different 32-bit and 64-bit version columns tick 32-bit 1.3.
once that's all done check and see if the game detects your controller and works properly.

I know that it crashes for most of the people on O2. It's not cpu related, so I'm not completely sure why it crashes, I can't reproduce the issues, but anyways the cracks are still more or less in test phase, so from time to time this got to be expected.
I'll try recracking the game in the next update.

edit: my mistake, i guess voksi is part of revolt (why are they listed separately then? o_O
and...i didn't see much in the way of solutions but it is a known problem so maybe if another group manages to succeed where this voksi person failed we'll get a working crack.

hmmm... nothing remotely TRPG related... this looks to be a cross between a visual novel and a action rpg...
so...this is only related to shining force in name only. i'll pass on this not-shining game. maybe i'll try a "shining" game the next time a "shining" game wants to be part of the real "shining" franchise instead of some visual novel rpg riding on the namesake of the older games.
it's the same problem they have always had with the sonic the hedgehog franchise. the whole franchise is a scattered mess at the best of times like they have no idea what they actually want it to be. instead, they just keep throwing things at it to see what does or doesn't stick.
as for the shining franchise. iirc i stopped playing it after it stopped being "shining force" and started becoming the unrecognizable thing it is today.
at least mario has never veered too far off course from what it originally was but some of these old IPs... it's like the owners no longer have any idea what they actually want to do with them any more and have resorted to just sticking the names on random experiments.
though...it's still better than the fates of the castlevania and metal gear IPs. :(

For me I can play the game fine until now (3 hours in gameplay near the end of op2) but V1 and V4 crashed. I play use V2 with turn Core0 off in affinity. U guys should try any version with turn Core0 off too. It may work for u.

piracy and emulation probably saved me thousands over the years. though that's piracy in general, not just video games though they do make up a large chunk.

please include the title of the game, your OS (whether or not it's 32 or 64-bit), and the error message if there is any and if said message is gibberish and not in english, try posting a screenshot (an img.ur link will suffice).

I downloaded the game version on this very page. It un-rar'd into a directory of the game. I applied the V4 crack to the game, deleted the 'generator' directory, played it from the beginning (all new save file) and it crashed at the beginning of Opus 2 AGAIN.
