If your game won't launch you have to Execute "xnafx40_redist" at the Bottom of the folder. And then the Game could be launch Normaly It worked for me so it will probably work for you too
When sorting by Name "xnafx40_redist" will be at the botom of the game Folder. You also have to Extract the Game on your desktop using WinRAR, It is mandatory on almost every game . Then "xnafx40_redist" will be avalible and will resolve the game launching issue.
Be sure to have downloaded the Game file and not an 5mo .exe ad file.
BTW downloading DirectX will solve most issue concerning DLL Error
The Terraria folder is already extracted. I usually know how to find "xnafx40_redist", but i do not know how to execute it. Can you please then help me with this.
I have found a guide to make mods work with the cracked version, It work perfectly even with multiplayer. For multiplayer you have to execute "start-tModLoaderServer" located in the "tmodloader" main folder, Use hamachi with your friends and disable your Firewall, And it will work, Its the same operation for a vanilla Local terraria server, Follow a classic terraria Lan server if you are not sure how to do it, it will work.

It seem hard but its pretty easy to do, If needed i can make a video to show exactly how to do each step.
My mods themselves work fine, but I still can't get the mod browser to work. The hashes are correct, and I double checked to make sure I saved, but no luck. I don't know if it's related, but I can't get the game to start from the start-tModLoaderServer.bat, just the normal one (though I never play multiplayer, anyway).
"start-tModLoaderServer" is only if you want to start a Lan server to play multiplayer, For singplayer its useless you just have to use "start-tModLoader"
The one above is for launching the game, And shall be used everytime to launche the game, The second is for setup a Lan server.
By Mod Browsers you mean the Ingame Tmod "Download Mods" in the ingame workshop ? Or you mean the game Itself won't launch by clicking on "start-tModLoader"?
If it's the first one you just have to wait on the "Download Mods" page a few seconds to let it load. If you have the second problem check the troushooting part, AND THE MOST IMPORTANT make sure to disable Avast or your AntiMalware, It will block the game from launching, My friend always have this problem it could be your case too

Try beating the game with a melee, or summoner class character. Build better buildings, roleplay. Try the other version of the infestation. Play on an expert/master world for unique mechanics and rewards. Check out the unique seeds. And when you are ready for the real challenge. It's time for mods! Calamity, Thorium, The Stars Above, Spirit, etc.
But take care, since some of these are mutually exclusive. Still, there is so much content.
I have "finished" this game three times since 2013 when I first discovered it on a playthrough of Totalbiscuit and Jesse Cox. It never got old for me. And I never tried any mods. So, yeah. Have fun.
If you ask in the comment for the update IGG people wont know how many people are requesting for the update. If you want to help everyone that wants a crack and yourself, use the actual method of informing that you want this game to be cracked. This way they get a bunch of request, showing them it should be prioritized. IGG dont use the comments as a metrics for request count.
Bingo and if your new to igg then the game request section is a link up at the top right where it says "home" "game lists" etc its the rightmost link called "game requests" just scroll down past all the lists of games recently added until you get to the comment section. Simply read the instructions. pesonally i always copy the top requests then paste it into the reply box then delete that games info and type in the game i want and past in the hyper links.
The more people request the same game the higher the priority it becomes!

I've finally cracked the egg, i used the method from an old Reddit thread but i'll post it here to save your time. Assuming you already downloaded the game, here's the step to play with mods :
Calculate steam.api hash located inside IGG's downloaded Terraria folder by going to this website. Scrool down and use the file hash (https://www.fileformat.info/tool/hash.htm)
Check the result by scrooling down and copy the MD5 entry, if IGG decided to update the game the result might be different so you should probably do this whole thing again everytime IGG updated the game BUT for v1.4.2.3 the MD5 is 4b73b22580c509c12497add6e7da75ff
Download HxD and open tmodloader.exe
Press Ctrl+R
Type 7B857C897BC69313E4936DC3DCCE5193 in the first field

Save the file You're done, you can play the game with mod now. You either download the mod from mod menu inside the game or find the mod on the internet. Here's extra step if you want to install mod manually, put them in : Documents\My Games\Terraria\ModLoader\Mods If the folder doesn't exist, create one on your own.
ok soo... the game runs well and there is nothing wrong in the gameplay, no crash at all, BUT the achievements, keep reseting everytime i exit the game, the achievement that i already achieved just dissapeared, and i had to re achieve it again

Personaly for Multiplayer i use the onlife-fix patch, It is a Russian website that create Multiplayer patch for almost all Cracked game. When you create an account on their site you will be able to download the SteamFix Patch that will link the game to Steam allowing for Multiplayer and Invite Friend.
Just slide the patch into the game folder, Launcher Steam and it will work, The password for the RAR archive is the website name in full. Also your friend will need to have a craked version and the Steam patch too to join you. Im actualy on a multiplayer campaing on terraria with my friend, All of us use the steam patch and it work perfectly.
download tmodloader.zip from https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/releases Extract it. Remove steam_api.dll from your terraria folder until tModLoader starts (you might need it later) start tModLoader with start-tModLoader.bat copy steam_api.dll back into Terraria folder if you want to play Terraria unmodded in the future.

Nope sadly, but you can use "LogMeIn Hamashi" or "server.pro" to host one and play with them. For Hamashi they have to download it to and connect. As for server.pro you can just host on their server and play

bro did you install OpenAL? inside of your folder game there is folder named _Redist open it then install the software named OpenAL. make sure your game running on Administrator mode, then set compability to windows 7. because i was facing this problem unluckily i fix it, and now i was able to play terraria.

unfortunately, your specs don't meet the requirements. There're some cheats that you could use to make the game run, but it's way too complicated. You can search for tutorials on how to make games run on specs lower than the requirements on youtube.

it's better to use a launcher rather than download the actual game here.. the best launcher right now is Tlauncher. If you want bedrock version, there's an exe which allow the official trial version from microsoft to become the full official minecraft.

If anyone crashes immediately after you press single player simply go to multiplayer create a character and go back to single player and it should work.
For future reference, this pack 1.4.2.2 has a missing requirement in its redist folder. Been trying to play but just kept giving me errors until I downloaded an earlier version with XNA framework 4.0 in its redist. Install mentioned framework and got it to work.

Ok, so the game works. (Thanks by the way.) But it's very slow for me, I download it four times. And I do have the recommended requirments, So I don't think that's it. I tried messing around with the settings and the game is faster when I raise the video quality but slower when I lower it. Try moving the folder to your desktop. Its random but it worked for me, but its inconsistent though so just delete the folder and extract it again and move it back to the desktop. lol

I wouldn't say it's a problem, more so that your current version is newer than the one being installed. I guess uninstalling MS Visual C++ Redis and then installing the one provided by Terraria but idk if that's a good thing to do.

I think I got it to work, all I did was open the terraria server app and when it said error loading server i just pressed y and then it showed me the list of worlds I could make into a server
for everyone asking how to do multiplayer, just use the TerrariaServer.exe in your install, open the port on your router, and give your friend your IP for them to connect

It's rather easy to crack tModLoader yourself once you've done it once or twice. It's as simple as searching for the steamapi.dll md5 hash inside tModLoader and chaning it to the cracked steamapi.dll md5 hash
i don't know if this is steam version or GOG version but it no longer works with recent Tmodloader. Update : Recent Tmodloader updates requires you to have Terraria 1.4.0.5 to play.. and this one doesn't work.
because GOG version is the only version that can use Tmodloader easily without any error. Steam version was working but one day they added DRM to the Tmodloader so it doesn't work with Steam anymore

just copy the save files lol, its commonly found in my Documents folder and also you can safely uninstall it as long as youre not using some uninstaller programs like revo thus they remove some remnant files
What I usually do is, I keep the older version of the game, then download the newer one. Launch the older version, play for a minute or two, close it, launch the newer version. Then all of the stats should probably be saved. If not, there is a possibility code got changed and some things aren't there. Hope I helped!
sometime file have read only click in properties. Change its to unchecked. Hope then its working fine :). Because i fave save file error some time when unchecked its run properly

yes, you just gotta create a server from http://server.pro and you have to be same version as your friends. And if you want to play on public servers just go to google and type terraria servers 1.4.0.4

Alright peeps, I don't usually do guides but, I'm feeling generous today. Here's how to use mods in terraria. 1- Download Terraria 1.4.0.2 here https://mega.nz/file/jNJUzI4L#W9yOOeXxbVq014yTzzOZQnyFC7lD_uoET6MXI73zhxE and then extract it. Don't go anything above that, as they won't work. 2- After that, you are gonna need TmodLoader 0.11.7. Anything above that or below it, won't work. You can get it here https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/releases/tag/v0.11.7 Scroll down to assets and click on Tmodloader.windows.v0.11.7. If you are using mac, use the mac versions, the same goes for linux. After you downloaded them, extract them in the terraria folder and click "replace everything". 3- Now, you are gonna need SmartSteamEmulator, which you can get here https://cs.rin.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=62935 You have to make an account in that website in order to download the file. After you made an account, scroll down till you see the "older info" section. Then download SmartSteamEmu143.7z. Don't download the reborn version, because that won't work. After that, extract it. 4- You are one step away from perfection, at this point, open SSE launcher and then click on File>Add Game then add vanilla terraria to it. It should pop up a screen, and there should be something that is called "Game App ID" it should be at 0, you are gonna need to change it to 105600, and then click save. 5- After that, click on file again and add game. Now, click on TmodLoader, it should pop up the same screen as before, but in this one, you are gonna need to change the Game App Id to 1281930 and click save. Ta-Da! It's done now. Click on Tmodloader in SSE and it should open up without any problem. Sure, there are some mods that cannot be used in this, but most of them are usable, including calamity, fargo, thorium, etc... It should be noted that you have to always use SSE to use Tmodloader. Alright fellas, that is all. Excuse my poor grammar and shit formatting, but i tried. If you have any problems, just tell me and I'll try to help.
The Mod browser will ask you to update your TmodLoader so here's the link: https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/releases/tag/v0.11.7.4 Note: You still need to download the one above because it contains files that's neccessary for SSE launcher. Just overwrite the files.

i havent done it yet but i suggest downloading an older Tmod version that goes with a 1.3 terraria version perhaps the only way to play it with mods for now

you can get steam tmodloader on csrinru forum you need to replace steamapi with goldberg steam api on release page and you also need to crack tmodloader because it checks file hash and im pretty sure someone uploaded a file in there that automatically cracks tmodloader edit: and also you dont need 1.3.5.3 it works fine with 1.4 but tmodloader automatically downgrade just make separate terraria folder like make a copy to make it easy
i have found a solution for achievements not saving, am not an expert but it seems that the 1.4.0.2 version igg is providing here is cracked by a person named goldberg but hes editing has fell apart somehow and achievements aren't saving, but i have another version of terraria 1.4.0.1 cracked by zbart and achievements are saving just fine in that one, so basically we have to remove goldbergs profile from this version and replace them with zbarts older versions profile after doing this achievements are working fine for now but don't blame me if anything happens further in the game, instructions goes like this 1: download zbart profile from this link https://www115.zippyshare.com/v/6IuX3sFk/file.html 2: delete the goldberg profile, delete Goldberg Settings folder from terraria exe folder and also delete the txt named local_save.txt 3: extract the rar file you downloaded and replace everything in the exe folder keep in mind that the characters and worlds are saved in documents so by deleting goldbergs profile you wont be damaging your save files in anyway but just in case create a backup of your save files located here just in case shit goes south C:\Users"your user"\Documents\My Games\Terraria

I found a quite good solution to the Marathon Medalist achievement just by using a Cheat Engine! Here's step-by-step on how to fix it (read it carefully, as I'm not responsible in any data corruption that might happen) :
Open Terraria (set it to windowed mode so it'll be easier to swap between Terraria and Cheat Engine)
Open Cheat Engine and select Terraria in the Process List
Back to Terraria, open the Achievements menu. Then search for the Marathon Medalist
Next to the achievement, there will be a value of how far you've done to get the achievement and the value you need to get the achievement. For example : 1000/1106688
Back to Cheat Engine, set the value type from "4 Bytes" to "All", then type "1000" to the value textbox. Press Enter and you'll see the result in the left box (probably <50 result will show up)
Back to Terraria, open a world and try to walk just enough that the value 1000 gets increased. For example : 1234/1106688. And then exit & save the game into the main menu
Back to Cheat Engine, try to find the result that match the value of the current progress you've made (1234). If it's shows more than one result, then select both and copy them into the address list (a.k.a press the red arrow in the bottom-left corner of the result box)
Edit both result value to 1106687 (do note that it's 1 less than the value you need to get). Overall it'll become like this : "1106687/1106688" in the achievement menu
Back to Terraria, open a world again and walk until you get the Marathon Medalist achievement. As entropii explained it, it seems that replacing the profile with zbarts also enables real time walk tracking for marathon achievement which might be causing lag for you, its not causing any lag for me tho so it might only be causing lag on low end pcs because of extra load, so you should look for a way to disable tracking for marathon achievement.
Ah, so I actually tried this method and the achievement resets problem is solved, but it makes another problem occurs which is the Marathon Medalist achievement being enabled that makes the game tracks how far you're moving constantly and it could cause some lag spikes with low-end devices (for some reason the previous profile, Goldberd, didn't have this problem). In the previous version of Terraria, this can easily fixed by going to Documents/My Games/Terraria and you open the config.json using Notepad, then scroll down until you find "RunningAchievementEnabled" and change it from 'true' to 'false'. However, for some reason that idk, the "RunningAchievementEnabled" setting isn't there anymore after the update
Well, until there's a fix for this problem. The only options are to play with saved achievements but also with a massive lag whenever you walks or revert to the old profile without saved achievements.
help i am in hardmode i was walking on the ground and a wyvern came from nowhere i killed it but i never got high in the air for it to spawn then i kept walkingon the ground and another one spwaned and killed me and they just keep coming to kill me help i dont know what the f is happening
ahhh so entering the dungeon in hardmode spawns wyvern but in pre hardmode no it was on normal ground and it happened for only one night the next day i walked on the same spot no wyvern
it's marathon medalist bug, opening as admin sometimes fixes it. if you want to play on the same save you have to copy the folder documents>my games> terraria to the documents of the admin user on the pc

You can put the tModloader 1.3.5 from the terraria forum and then put in the same folder and launch tmodloader.exe, the dlc is just a separate folder so you don't override the original terraria.exe or being easy to access.
You can do multiplayer by port forwarding or with a vpn software like hamachi or radmin vpn, just set them up and use the "TerrariaServer.exe" to create your server.
Yes, you can play multiplayer. Use hamachi, I personally find it the easiest, just connect with a friend in hamachi and connect directly via IP in terraria. You may have to trubleshoot, use google. You can only play with friends (i don't know if there are terraria servers). Ergo: don't try to connect to any "official" stuff.

you go to multiplayer and press host and play then select world and charachter. Go to any website that finds your ip or just find it using command prompt and give that ip to the person you want to play with. The person then has to go to multiplayer press connect to a server , and then paste the ip into the ip area. It works for both steam and gog for both cracked and normal versions

Hello, Guys im having a problem where terraria saves alright but when i leave and like when i play in the next day the world says the the world load failed and when i click backup , the world dosent load in i can only see my hotbar and my minimap and the character for a while and then it says it stops responing and oof i lost my progress .. i check my folders and it says that its removed or changed some how, my character is fine but i lost like 15hrs of my work, this happend to me 3 TIMES, please somone tell how i can fix this becasue if this cant be fixed than i wont be ever again be satisfied or fully finish terraria which i want to , so please some one help

Did someone mess with the drop chances? I have 4 eye of cthulu Masks (14.29% drop chance) despite beating the eye of cthulu only 5 times. I got 2 tartar sauce from less than 10 iron crates (4.8% drop chance or 1 in 21). I got vitamins within the first 20 crimson monsters depsite it being a 1% drop chance. I also got 2 hel-fires in an hour of hardmode (with a ONE IN 400 drop chance). Is this a lucky coincidence or is one of the files fucked up?

For anyone who keeps wondering why the game is crashing or not opening up for them, you need to go into File Explorer and enter your Terraria folder, then look for the folder labeled "_Redist" and download all the programs in there, the programs are necessary for the application to work. After all that your game should work now. Edit: If you have Linux or Apple you don't need to download the .NET Framework since it should be already installed on your computer.

The game is not running. It just appears on the backround for a few seconds and then disappears. Totally Accurate Simulator from iggames does not do that so it's not my computer

Is that all I should have installed or is there more? T.T Edit: found the framework 4.8, installed it, and I'm still getting the same god damn message. EDIT2: FIXED FINALLY!! Some sort of issue with file locations, the folder "content" was inside another folder with the name"Terraria.v1.3.5.3", moved it to the same place I had "Redist" and "Profile" folders and it finally found the PixelShader and the other files.
Never did, it doesn't have objectives or missions which is kind of frustrating for me. I wanted to play this one after hearing it was like Aground, which had history, achievements and lots of resources and things to craft.
First you need to download hamachi and make it work, your friend will need to do the same. (better search for it on youtube) After your hamachi is set up and ready to work, if you are the one hosting the server your friend is gonna need to copy your hamachi ip and put it on terraria before joining your server (you host it by clicking host & play ingame and disabling steam server when it asks) If your friend is the one hosting it you will need to copy his hamachi ip and put it on terraria when it asks for ip (if you are still getting problems feel free to contact me, i will add you on discord and help you)

its a game version of terraria from http://gog.com. to download it free just type in google terraria gog download and you should get it. after you run the setup.exe which is about 200 mb you download tmodloader and then run the installer.jar file.when you run the installer.jar you point it to your terraria gog folder and thats all you need to do.
its just a different version of the game but with the same content that you download from the gog store. You just type terraria gog download and you download it. after you run the setup.exe you download the tmodloader and then run the installer.jar file.and thats it
If the game doesn't open for you, run and download all redist files (TerrariaFolder>Redist). That fixes it. If some redist executables say they are already installed, run all the other ones. Upvote so more can see.

some ads will block the file, some will prompt a download. The actual file is totally safe, but the one you download is not an actual file, but very likely a malware. It's not igg fault, you have to be keen next time.

yes it does you need a LAN connection with the others or use something like hamachi and connect to the host. then click start server and follow the processes it tells you( in that process press y for forward port and keep the server port 7777). After that give your friends your public IP so they can join via IP.

Try update your windows and download a drive software to update your drivers they may be old so you nerd to update it and restart your pc then let us know if it's working
Make sure you installed "dotNetFx40_Full_setup, dxwebsetup, oalinst, xnafx40_redist" in the _Redist. Skip any applications that give the error similar to "you already have a later version, etc." If it still doesn't work, restart your computer. Alternatively, try starting Terraria.exe in admin mode.

Yeah, can confirm that tModLoader works. Though unfortunately you can't use the 64bit version because the cracked version here of Terraria seems to be only the 32bit version. Installing tModLoader is pretty much the same as the Steam version except you place the tModLoader files on wherever you extracted your cracked Terraria.

Ok, so not calling you dumb, but I am. The virus total results show it as two scanners picking it up as Riskware two scanners picking it up as Malware and one scanner picking it up for something completely different. This is what is called false flags. Ignore em and enjoy the games. Been using IGG for a good few years and never had an issue with any of the games they provided.
Mods are not going to be supported by either official terraria support or IGG games as they are not being provided by either suppliers. Your best bet for support is to contact the modded terraria provider (in this case TModLoader?). You can go to their discord and ask for support.

hi download xnafx40_redist to play terraria and then have fun playing terraria if want join my server press multiplayer press join via ip then choose a player/character or you can create one then type the server ip address 127.0.0.1 and type the server port 7777 then you should connect to my world i hope this help :D

if you still have the problem try disabling marathon medalist achievement go to Documents -> My Games -> Terraria open config.json file using notepad search "RunningAchievementEnabled": true, and replace it to "RunningAchievementEnabled": false, save and close notepad open the game and enjoy

try to reinstal and open terraria folder after new instalation, dont launch the game yet. go look for _Redist folder, install all inside _redist folder. i hope it work
If Terraria crashes on startup try this: Go to your Terraria folder, open the folder named "_Redist". Then, just install everything in the folder (dotNetFx40, dxweb, OpenAL, vcredist, and xnafx40). Then, try booting up Terraria again, see if that works

you can port forward and use a dedicated server that YOU host and your friends can join hamachi is light but it still decrease your fps open terraria server.exe to make a dedicated server and to port forward just look up a tutorial on youtube

The game just crash after some minutes with "terraria.exe has stopped working". I still can run the game but it crash in 1 or 2 minutes so its unplayable. Does someone know this bug and how fix it ?
To run mods you need mod engines like tModLoader, which I'm sure should work. but anyways, I am unknowledgeable about the subject so ask google, not me.

Step 1: Go to the Terraria rar file that you downloaded, open it, search for the file named "steam_api.dll" drag this to your desktop, and create a folder (the name of the folder won't matter, it's just for storage) Step 2: open the folder and right click "steam_api.dll" and click copy. Step 3: Go to wherever your Terraria folder is, open the folder, right click and paste the file in there. If you get the same error repeat Step 2 & 3 Hope this helps :)
Just apply what you did to the older version except using the newer version of whatever mod loader you're using. I know this because I do have a legitimate copy of terraria and when I was trying to play with my friend on steam he had mods installed on his world so he told me to install a big list of mods.
Simple! RAM doesn't matter, but the other hardware does (not to say that it should be completely forgotten) so having 69,000 RAM and a shit CPU and GPU bottle necks all of that ram

I had the same problem i tried to play clamity but it would lag as hell when walking. I searched everywhere and couldn't find an answer I guess you could go in to the actual games code and modify it to not contain the achievement.
found a better solution! i went digging through the files again and found nothing but gibbersh so then i started thinking about that achievement menu at the title screen and how hacking HP via cheat engine works... you pick a character, load a world and use cheat engine to scan and freeze your current hp. simple, right? well, not exactly. see, in terraria (all versions even when using tmod loader and N Terraria which i finally got setup btw. went looking and found a copy of terraria that works with the current version of N Terraria.) you can load a world, scan and freeze your current hp easily BUT if you exit back to the title screen and load the same or a different world you have to rescan and freeze your current hp because the values change between each...session i guess it'd be. SO...i went and scanned for the current value (current / value needed to unlock the achievement) for the marathon achievement while in the "title screen" achievement menu (important detail, that). got like 8 results (might be different for different people) in cheat engine (set it to scan "all" in the value type field btw), 2 of which were hex code:s which means they're "float" values. anyway, once you've done that first scan, load up a world and fight the lag to run around for just a second (just enough to get that current value to change) then exit out back to the title screen, minimize the game, check the results in cheat engine but do not touch anything on it. see if those float values increased in the results and if they match up to the number on the achievement in the title screen achievement menu (they might be a decimal number like current value.whatever. it's not really important.). if they match up, set them both to this: 1106687. that's 1 point below what is needed to unlock that buggy achievement. next, check to make sure the in-game (still at the title screen achievement menu) value matches your changes. if it does then move on to the next step. if not...start over. last step, load up another world and claim that gods damned achievement for the final freaking time. exit back to the title screen AGAIN and check to make certain you have successfully unlocked the damn thing. this is why it's important that you hack the title screen menu and not the menu when you've loaded a world: that title screen menu? it overrides the in-world menu for achievements. so forget editing the config file. this works better. ^_^

man, the subreddit for this game is a freaking TERRIBLE place to ask for help with problems in this game. ok, well, so far one person responded with some actual advice over there. here's what they said: "This achievement is definitely fucking things up. I disabled it and now play at 60fps constant. To do this, assuming you're on windows, go to C:\Users\your username\My Games\Terraria folder. There is a file named config.json, open it with notepad and edit the line "RunningAchievementEnabled" to false. Save the file and you're set." that MIGHT work. needs to be tested by someone...i might when i try to download this latest version. seriously though. the people on that subreddit have a serious problem... some who responded to my post about this marathon medalist achievement related lag kept trying to blame the problem on my PC not meeting the minimum specs and some were stupid enough to be going around claiming this problem is a myth.

ok, not sure what OS the guy i quoted was talking about but for windows 7 (or maybe just this pirate copy of the game) the actual config file location is in "Documents > My Games > Terraria". ok, there was a rather bad lag spike when i started up my current world but this change in the config file does seem to have helped and did indeed disable the marathon medalist achievement since i've moved back and forth a bit and am getting 0 progress on it.
i have only one question, the answer of which shall determine whether or not i try this game AGAIN or give up on it entirely: in the latest update... have they at long last FINALLY fixed that damned lag issue related to that idiotic marathon achievement? you know, the one achievement that has caused lag problems since they first added the entire achievement system.
it is not a matter of my PC not being able to run this game. before version 1,3 of terraria the game ran fine with no lag or any other problems. then came version 1.3+ and the achievement system and with that system came a lag problem the devs, through numerous updates, simply could not solve and fix. it's fairly well known by now that the lag issue is related to the marathon achievement but instead of removing said achievement, fixing it, then re-implementing it later it gets left in the game un-fixed and affects all versions of the game. if that ONE problem were fixed then i could play the game just fine again.
I have that issue, I just did not know what it was about. When I start the game, I walk and the game drops from 60 FPS to 13 FPS instantly, but when im flying or using the unicorn mount (IDK if it works for other mounts) the lag stops
don't use hamachi/tunngle the only successful way to play multiplayer is to " Join Via IP " Press the Windows button and search " cmd " open it up and type " ipconfig " then look at the " IPv4 " ( it should start with 192.168 ) address and copy it to your friend then look at the terraria game folder and run " terrariaserver.exe " choose your world and put the limit of players ( navigate with numbers ) keep the " port " option empty and press " ENTER " this is the only way if you are on the cracked version.

Make sure you downloaded all the important components that came with the terraria download. ''xnafx40_redist '' you can either find it in the terraria folder or in a folder in terraria folder called '' _Redist '' there is everything you need to run this game.

I have the glitch where if you walk it lags really much can anyone help me? (The problem is the marathon medalist achievement) I'm also using a plugin to play with mods (Tmod) and the config file for Tmod doesn't have the option to turn the achievement off. I've tried about everything The achievement also resets after i am done with terraria Only thing i haven't tried is actually getting a file with the achievements done so If anyone knows a link for the achievements-steam.dat file with the achievement done I would be very grateful :) The file is in Terraria>Profile>IGGGames>Saves I just want to play the calamity mod :(

So I did everything like HeyItzIgor said and the same thing happened... I rename terraria, run the launcher as administrator and it pretends to load if I'm lucky it'll show up in task manager under background apps but other than that nothin happens... I've deleted and reinstalled the game several times and the fix and nothing's happening... I don't get it... So far all this has done is bother my OCD and made it so I can't hold the enter key when I try to open it... Other than that nothing happened... That thing also happen on the other games, try to uninstall the existing terraria game you just downloaded then reinstall that again. if that doesn't work, maybe your antivirus turned "on". try to disable your antivirus OR Did you have pre-exquisites installed? (redistributables) if not install it cause sometimes it need for game to work.

Hello, sorry for not responding, I reinstalled my OS yesterday. So, your "error" is the usual "connecting to ..." and nothing happens, right? Check that your friend is connected to the Hamachi network you created, if yes, right click her, uh... details, then change everything to "partner assigned" or whatever is that in english, check the mp then. if still no, go to your firewall settings and allow Terraria.exe or TerrariaServer.exe, i recommend choosing both public and private networks. check now, if still... uh, (lmao you did check the details xd nevermind that part then) oh, i know! check your version and her version, make sure those matches, if not, download the newest version/tell her to download. if still no, i currently dont have any idea. pls send back feedback if it did help or no, if no, i will continue investigation :D

first copy your worlds and characters from you game folder then dowlond the new parts then copy your chacracters and maps in the new folder. thats how i did it

It worked for me so it will probably work for you too
You also have to Extract the Game on your desktop using WinRAR, It is mandatory on almost every game .
Then "xnafx40_redist" will be avalible and will resolve the game launching issue.
Be sure to have downloaded the Game file and not an 5mo .exe ad file.
BTW downloading DirectX will solve most issue concerning DLL Error
Last Step, press the "Right Click" on your mouse then Select Delete.
"xnafx40_redist" is now Executed as you should too.
Next Step Follow the setup instruction, and it will work.

For multiplayer you have to execute "start-tModLoaderServer" located in the "tmodloader" main folder, Use hamachi with your friends and disable your Firewall, And it will work, Its the same operation for a vanilla Local terraria server, Follow a classic terraria Lan server if you are not sure how to do it, it will work.

For HxD i have used the blue ugly site that is the first search result "Nexus .de"
And for the hash checker i have typed "hash checker md5" and used the GitHub link, It worked.
Note: Like said on the main TmodLoader download page you have to place the Tmodloader main folder Inside the Terraria Main folder.
It seem hard but its pretty easy to do, If needed i can make a video to show exactly how to do each step.
The one above is for launching the game, And shall be used everytime to launche the game, The second is for setup a Lan server.
By Mod Browsers you mean the Ingame Tmod "Download Mods" in the ingame workshop ?
Or you mean the game Itself won't launch by clicking on "start-tModLoader"?
If it's the first one you just have to wait on the "Download Mods" page a few seconds to let it load.
If you have the second problem check the troushooting part, AND THE MOST IMPORTANT make sure to disable Avast or your AntiMalware, It will block the game from launching, My friend always have this problem it could be your case too

and if your new to igg then the game request section is a link up at the top right where it says "home" "game lists" etc its the rightmost link called "game requests" just scroll down past all the lists of games recently added until you get to the comment section. Simply read the instructions. pesonally i always copy the top requests then paste it into the reply box then delete that games info and type in the game i want and past in the hyper links.
The more people request the same game the higher the priority it becomes!

You're done, you can play the game with mod now. You either download the mod
from mod menu inside the game or find the mod on the internet. Here's

Just slide the patch into the game folder, Launcher Steam and it will work, The password for the RAR archive is the website name in full. Also your friend will need to have a craked version and the Steam patch too to join you. Im actualy on a multiplayer campaing on terraria with my friend, All of us use the steam patch and it work perfectly.
Extract it.
Remove steam_api.dll from your terraria folder until tModLoader starts (you might need it later)
start tModLoader with start-tModLoader.bat
copy steam_api.dll back into Terraria folder if you want to play Terraria unmodded in the future.

make sure your game running on Administrator mode, then set compability to windows 7. because i was facing this problem unluckily i fix it, and now i was able to play terraria.

Here's how to use mods in terraria.
1- Download Terraria 1.4.0.2 here https://mega.nz/file/jNJUzI4L#W9yOOeXxbVq014yTzzOZQnyFC7lD_uoET6MXI73zhxE
and then extract it. Don't go anything above that, as they won't work.
2- After that, you are gonna need TmodLoader 0.11.7. Anything above that or below it, won't work. You can get it here https://github.com/tModLoader/tModLoader/releases/tag/v0.11.7 Scroll down to assets and click on Tmodloader.windows.v0.11.7. If you are using mac, use the mac versions, the same goes for linux.
After you downloaded them, extract them in the terraria folder and click "replace everything".
3- Now, you are gonna need SmartSteamEmulator, which you can get here https://cs.rin.ru/forum/viewtopic.php?f=29&t=62935
You have to make an account in that website in order to download the file. After you made an account, scroll down till you see the "older info" section. Then download SmartSteamEmu143.7z. Don't download the reborn version, because that won't work. After that, extract it.
4- You are one step away from perfection, at this point, open SSE launcher and then click on File>Add Game then add vanilla terraria to it. It should pop up a screen, and there should be something that is called "Game App ID" it should be at 0, you are gonna need to change it to 105600, and then click save.
5- After that, click on file again and add game. Now, click on TmodLoader, it should pop up the same screen as before, but in this one, you are gonna need to change the Game App Id to 1281930 and click save.
Ta-Da! It's done now. Click on Tmodloader in SSE and it should open up without any problem. Sure, there are some mods that cannot be used in this, but most of them are usable, including calamity, fargo, thorium, etc...
It should be noted that you have to always use SSE to use Tmodloader.

Update : After playing for about 30 minutes, I realized that this method however only fixed it the moment you play the game and after you exit and re-enter the game, you need to do this again (because it's not permanent and Marathon Medalist gets reseted everytime you exit the game :/)

I have 4 eye of cthulu Masks (14.29% drop chance) despite beating the eye of cthulu only 5 times. I got 2 tartar sauce from less than 10 iron crates (4.8% drop chance or 1 in 21). I got vitamins within the first 20 crimson monsters depsite it being a 1% drop chance. I also got 2 hel-fires in an hour of hardmode (with a ONE IN 400 drop chance).
Is this a lucky coincidence or is one of the files fucked up?

Edit: found the framework 4.8, installed it, and I'm still getting the same god damn message.
EDIT2: FIXED FINALLY!! Some sort of issue with file locations, the folder "content" was inside another folder with the name"Terraria.v1.3.5.3", moved it to the same place I had "Redist" and "Profile" folders and it finally found the PixelShader and the other files.
After your hamachi is set up and ready to work, if you are the one hosting the server your friend is gonna need to copy your hamachi ip and put it on terraria before joining your server (you host it by clicking host & play ingame and disabling steam server when it asks)
If your friend is the one hosting it you will need to copy his hamachi ip and put it on terraria when it asks for ip

Some do lag on terraria Ora is rare and relogic did fix that long ago for low pc they can run up to 60 fps but for decent is 100 rp 150 fps
So please try to check the system if it's low try download some terraria clear lag it can help you out also its a third party download I suggest you to stay as you are

Installing tModLoader is pretty much the same as the Steam version except you place the tModLoader files on wherever you extracted your cracked Terraria.

Go to your Terraria folder, open the folder named "_Redist". Then, just install everything in the folder (dotNetFx40, dxweb, OpenAL, vcredist, and xnafx40).
Then, try booting up Terraria again, see if that works

after u finish extract terraria rar, do not open the game yet, click xnafx40_redist.msi
wait until it finish then try click on your game, the game have 5 or 10sec delay before it open, just wait.
if still doesn't working, reinstal ur terraria then open _redist
then instal all incease u don't have it.
after all done in _redist folder, don't open game yet, go to first step, if it done, open ur game and wait for the delay 10 or 20sec i guess.. gluck to try

ok, is there a mod or something that will finally strip this useless, buggy achievement from this game? apparently tmodloader overrides the terraria config file because the line i have in quotes here no longer works.
cause i don't want to have to use cheat engine to re-acquire that achievement whenever i start up the game.

i click the Log In link and it just redirects me back to the inbox page or front page if i try opening it in another tab. so they seem to be having some technical difficulties or something.

I guess you could go in to the actual games code and modify it to not contain the achievement.
you pick a character, load a world and use cheat engine to scan and freeze your current hp. simple, right? well, not exactly. see, in terraria (all versions even when using tmod loader and N Terraria which i finally got setup btw. went looking and found a copy of terraria that works with the current version of N Terraria.) you can load a world, scan and freeze your current hp easily BUT if you exit back to the title screen and load the same or a different world you have to rescan and freeze your current hp because the values change between each...session i guess it'd be.
SO...i went and scanned for the current value (current / value needed to unlock the achievement) for the marathon achievement while in the "title screen" achievement menu (important detail, that). got like 8 results (might be different for different people) in cheat engine (set it to scan "all" in the value type field btw), 2 of which were hex code:s which means they're "float" values.
anyway, once you've done that first scan, load up a world and fight the lag to run around for just a second (just enough to get that current value to change) then exit out back to the title screen, minimize the game, check the results in cheat engine but do not touch anything on it. see if those float values increased in the results and if they match up to the number on the achievement in the title screen achievement menu (they might be a decimal number like current value.whatever. it's not really important.). if they match up, set them both to this: 1106687. that's 1 point below what is needed to unlock that buggy achievement. next, check to make sure the in-game (still at the title screen achievement menu) value matches your changes. if it does then move on to the next step. if not...start over.
last step, load up another world and claim that gods damned achievement for the final freaking time. exit back to the title screen AGAIN and check to make certain you have successfully unlocked the damn thing.
this is why it's important that you hack the title screen menu and not the menu when you've loaded a world: that title screen menu? it overrides the in-world menu for achievements.
so forget editing the config file. this works better. ^_^

ok, well, so far one person responded with some actual advice over there. here's what they said:
"This achievement is definitely fucking things up. I disabled it and now play at 60fps constant.

that MIGHT work. needs to be tested by someone...i might when i try to download this latest version.
seriously though. the people on that subreddit have a serious problem... some who responded to my post about this marathon medalist achievement related lag kept trying to blame the problem on my PC not meeting the minimum specs and some were stupid enough to be going around claiming this problem is a myth.
and 2. this problem is NOT a myth. to claim it is is just plain stupid.
ok, there was a rather bad lag spike when i started up my current world but this change in the config file does seem to have helped and did indeed disable the marathon medalist achievement since i've moved back and forth a bit and am getting 0 progress on it.

in the latest update... have they at long last FINALLY fixed that damned lag issue related to that idiotic marathon achievement? you know, the one achievement that has caused lag problems since they first added the entire achievement system.
the most notable detail is how the game suffers extreme lag mainly when you're walking on the ground (and flat surface really).
it's fairly well known by now that the lag issue is related to the marathon achievement but instead of removing said achievement, fixing it, then re-implementing it later it gets left in the game un-fixed and affects all versions of the game.
if that ONE problem were fixed then i could play the game just fine again.

the only successful way to play multiplayer is to " Join Via IP "
Press the Windows button and search " cmd " open it up and type " ipconfig "
then look at the " IPv4 " ( it should start with 192.168 ) address and copy it to your friend then look at the terraria game folder and run " terrariaserver.exe "
choose your world and put the limit of players ( navigate with numbers ) keep the " port " option empty and press " ENTER "
this is the only way if you are on the cracked version.

Paste the .wld file in there
After that, name it something like "world10.wld"
Copy it, then paste it in the same folder
and name it for example "world10.wld.bak"
if a .wld.bak file isnt in there, the game wont open the world
