I hope someone can read this. Is there a fix for the 0xc000007b error? I tried everything from reinstalling the latest directx, .net frameworks, reinstalling the game, redownloading the game from other sites, etc. It's still getting that error.
Ah I had this problem on other game last year but I forgot the fix. I suggest search solution on reddit or forum I think there I found it. Oh ignore official website aka "your typical solution" they just giving solution that you already tried.
for those who struggling to install/update this game I made this Installation steps (WARNING: don't install steam or if you have steam uninstall it)
Extract the part 1 to 3
Mount the disc image file
Run and Install the ys viii setup
after installing go and open the CODEX folder included in the disc image file
Copy all the files in the CODEX folder
Go to open file location of ys viii or the installition folder or (C:\Program Files (x86)\Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana)
Then lastly paste all the files that you'd copied in the CODEX folder after that, download the UPDATE 17/01/2020 if you want then extract and install the update setup and then copy again the files from the CODEX that included in the update folder and paste it in file location of the game. If you want to have the HQ TEXTURE PACK update download it and extract same process again, just install the setup from the update folder then copy the files from CODEX folder that included in hq texture pack folder then paste it to the file location of the game.

The crack includes in the CODEX folder you should copy all the files in there then paste it in file location of ys viii or (C:\Program Files (x86)\Ys VIII Lacrimosa of Dana) You should install the setup of ys viii in the part 1 to 3 first then, install the update before the HD pack. PS. you should copy the files from CODEX folder in included in the update folder if you install only the update and if you install the HD pack you should copy the files from the CODEX that included in the HD pack folder.
now I start to like NIS America a lot. back in old day they might be screw up with Ys viii but now is a no. anyway, if it is NIS America then I know their game can put in window mode and can be fixed resolution. so you can see the time. The game runs fine, however there is a tiny, problem, oh wait did I say "tiny" I meant GINORMOUS problem that I ran into, my mouse controls are HORRIBLY unresponsive during combat,sometimes even during cutscenes, and I can't time my dodging or attack until my mouse responds 2 seconds later when I have already taken a shit ton of damage, even though camera movement works fine when my attacks or dodges do not. NIS America, with all due respect, fuck you.
also i have a fairly top of the line gaming laptop and there is occasional crashes during scenes or sometimes when i go to world map other than that its fine. so if i save often (and autosave) i dont have to redo much each time.

This game could have been amazing if only people could actually play it. Setting the affinity works for time but then crashes eventually anyway. What a shame. Looks like Ys remains niche in the west.

Because http://Mega.co sucks and makes you try to buy it just to download the other two parts unless you wanna wait forever and a day just to download the remaining parts. forgot to tell you all about cheat item you can cheat power up and HP but i tell you event you has 4000 power attack you only hit 8 to 10 % only like 4000 hit 86 to 100 up. but skill is full attack power when use.
I thought that I was the only one here who didn't understand anything about what he he said. I think he was saying something about a cheat item or something that increases your HP and it has an attack damage of 4000. I think that there is a hit success chance of 8% to 10% and the cheat item has a hit chance of 86% to 100%. But if you use a skill then the power of the cheat item goes max which is I believe more than 4000. I don't know any thing about this cheat item, I just tried to decipher what this buddy here said.
Did you put the replace the original files with the crack file? To do that: Open the crack file, I believe there will be a steam.(SOMETHING) file and one more file. Could be more than 2 files, could be less too. ( Didn't download the game yet) So take these to files, then open the original file of the game and place those files you copied there. If you don't know where the original file is, then rightclick on the ys8.exe and hit properties. Then bellow you will see "Open file location" press that and you should hit the right screen. yeah i already did that i also uninstalled the game then reinstall along with the codex in the same folder where i installed the game but it still does the same thing nothing happens when launching the game.
hi need some help i've donwloaded the game via torrent then use daemoon tools however when i tried to install the game i received an error message saying unarc.dll returned an error code -6 how to fix this?
the game is still buggy as hell and bad port problem. Try to read the review in steam and its mostly negative. Wether you wait for patch or just forget it.
the exe can be found on falcom's discord just google that, there's a direct link to it in the first reddit result that pops up from there you can find the ys8 section and ctrl+f 1280p (or whatever the resolution is i dont remember for sure) and the exe is there they also have a mod for improved music quality

Yup same here, they stated the patches and what they were for. Long story short the game crashing, rendering problems are still on their list of things to fix and they appeared near the end... Why you'd focus on minor issues over game breaking ones first is beyond me but here we are :/ At least they will hopefully fix it eventually unlike some games that were left broken such as nier automata
Why the shit am I having so many problems with controllers lately? Neither my wireless dualshock 4 or wired xbox controller works with this game. Dualshock 4 does absolutely nothing, while the xbox controller just makes the menu selection highlighter scroll constantly, pressing a button stops it momentarily, but release the button and off it goes again, and can't select any menu options anyway. It only seems to be recently for me that just about any game I get has controller issues which can only be solved by adding the game to Steam and using controller support through that, which doesn't even work for this game. So frustrating.
Run the game on Low Graphics, i haven't had any crashes yet. i been trying to get it to work on a constant basis, but so far the only thing i have figure out is to run it on low. so far i haven't had a crash only on chapter 2 so far.
i tried the update but nothing almost change on my side i think my R7260X is really old for this game and add to that matter the game got now flickering lights.. and its rainbow.. :( still stuck at 30~40 FPS. pfft.
Yes, that's why I came back here to the comment section. The music track seems broken. It sounds like it's skipping, looping or jumping around every two seconds or so. The voice track seems fine though. Is that kinda what you're experiencing?
There's a way to "fix" it. Someone on Steam said, "If you have multiple audio outputs, you need to disable all of them" (except for the one you're using of course). Sounds stupid, I know, but it worked for me. It's the strangest issue I've seen in the history of PC games.

Why people get crash so much, hmm, i play the game since it release until now at chapters 5( 30hrs in game), not a single game-broken issues happen, maybe some lighting glitch and fps drop in some place but that's it and i not even need/use the new update. Major people have problem use i see are using Nvidia card, update your driver to lastest, go to steam forum there is a "fix crash" with modified process with task manager.
yh it's still not perfect they released experimental patches on steam today and are still working to fix it all so hopefully they will sort it all out soon.
Yup same here I can go between a minute to maybe 5 tops before a crash inevitably occurs, hopefully future patches resolve this as they are working on it.
get the gog version from somewhere else,turn off map shadows,fxaa,dof and glare,force vsync and aa,af through nvidia panel,update nvidia driver,replace mmap_vv.shd in pcshader>usershd with the one from steam version to fix minimap.
they did not retranslate it, that was a lie. they had someone edit the trash translation and even then pretty much all the side content is still the same as it was in the original.
Two areas in the game need a seizure warning so called "slight flickering" issue. I got through the first one, but the second one is where I call it quits until they patch it. I don't want to destroy my eyes.
Internal resolution is locked to 1800p so changing the resolution doesn't affect performance. If you look at the steam forums someone posted a way to hex edit the internal resolution to 1080p which could get you a few more fps.
by the steam comments this game has a resolution lock on 4 k , thats why is so terrible to play without a high end pc ..... troublesome, they really really need fix that '-'
yup i can get it to run for 10-20 minutes or so then it crashes to desktop and freezes during cut-scenes. such an embarrassing port. also sometimes it doesn't know if your playing with a ps4 or xbox controller. no wonder people will still continue buying consoles.
Just an FYI, this is a very bad port. NISA is currently working on issues, but don't expect everything to be fixed. If you want a smooth experience, your only bet is the PS4/Vita version. Switch is coming soon, but who knows how well that one turned out yet, either.

I have a big car. I let one drive. He wasn't very smart. He was retarded. In fact, none of them were really bright. They kept punching themselves in the genitals. I laughed. Then they punched me in the genitals. I stopped laughing. I herded them into my room. They didn't adapt very well to their new home. They would screech, hurl themselves off the couch at high speeds and slam into the wall. Although humorous at first, this lost its novelty after an hour. Two hours later I found out why all the monkeys were so inexpensive: they all died. No apparent reason. They all just sorta dropped dead. Kinda like when you buy a goldfish and it dies five hours later. Damn cheap monkeys. I didn't know what to do. There were 200 dead monkeys lying all over my room, on the bed, in the dresser, hanging from my bookcase. It looked like I had 200 throw rugs. I tried to flush one down the toilet. It didn't work. It got stuck. Then I had one dead, wet monkey and 199 dead, dry monkeys. I tried pretending that they were just stuffed animals. That worked for a while, that is until they began to decompose. It started to smell real bad. I had to pee but there was a dead monkey in the toilet and I didn't want to call the plumber. I was embarrassed. I tried to slow down the decomposition by freezing them. Is it me or does the main character adol seem to move choppily like it all runs fine smooth 60 but his moments especially in diagonals feel like its janky and as if he skips frames in the process... Annoying as its not like he slows down he literally just seems to skip animation and everything else looks fine. Other than that no crashes as such

One solution that worked for me was to go into the Options and turn of Map Shadows. Could play 2 Hours without crash or bad FPS. Hope i could help with this, might not work for everyone. Srry

i have audio problem too. but when i uninstall "facerig" on my PC. audio has no problem. i uninstall "facerig" because i when game crash, playback device auto change to facerig playback device. so i tried uninstall facerig and audio is perfect now

Same. Huge Ys fan here, but the way NISA handled this game was embarassing, to say the least. XSEED released some jank as well, but at least they didn't mess up the script, to the point where they had to rewrite the entire things.
I'd take XSEED over NISA any day. XSEED is a small group of people compared to NISA but they're very passionate at what they do. Take the Trails series for example the amount of extra effort they put in releasing the pc ports really shows they want you to have a genuine experience instead of just having a translated game.
You don't have to explain XSEED to me. As much as I appreciate their efforts, to my knowledge, Xanadu Next still hasn't been fixed. But yeah, at least they have an excuse, whereas NISA has not. They just didn't care and let some intern localize Ys VIII.
