well the overlal stuff isn;t too bad, it's just all the technical stuff- items, mechanics explanations, descriptions, skills, etc. most people playing this have no idea what an offeering is, or what BRAVE is. that's liek playing Disgaea and not knowing about item world.
you know " mystery Dungeon" is literally just roguelikes in Japan, right? that's an entire genre of game, there. and no Shiren the wanderer didn't start it.
Yeah but Shiren was the first game with an original character instead of being just a Dragon Quest crossover. Also yeah it's a roguelike but that's like saying anime means just cartoon in japanese.
You mean Shiren The Wanderer series(Pokemon is just a recent crossover they did)? And it seems like a pretty good copy of it, the fangs system seems like a better version of the special attacks that the Etrian Odyssey themed Mystery Dungeon game for 3DS had.
It looks like a simple roguelike for babies, which holds your hand way too much, at least at first... MOST UNBALANCED ROGUELIKE EVER After a few levels, you realize this is the most unbalanced roguelike in the history. Are they kidding, releasing a game in this state???? Dying in this game feels IMMENSELY frustrating. This will be your face after a few joyful deaths => https://media.giphy.com/media/22CEvbj04nLLq/giphy.gif At first, you'll be encountering very easy enemies during a few floors... You'll be very happy collecting new gear, leveling up, and using your new skills... AND THEN... Suddenly you'll be cornered by three new enemies coming out of nowhere(yeah, enemies actually do spawn AND re-spawn anywhere) - some of them using ranged weapons - which will kill you in a matter of seconds, without you being able to do ANYTHING.😡 I'm used to roguelikes and I think it's the first time ever this happens to me. There are NO permanent upgrades, so it's not a case of "die and get better gear/skills/whatever"... You just start over with zero skills and equipment... Aaaand then die the exact same way. Over and over. (you can send some items to the "warehouse", but I got killed so fast I didn't even have time to do it...) I already did it three five times. I try to calm down a few minutes, listening to some relaxing hardcore metal.😌 And I guess I'll give it one last chance and call it a day. lol Edit: LOL!! It happened one more time. Well ok this game is a big NOPE. I'm done. lol Also, not the biggest problem, but most levels feel too "empty", despite the endlessly re-spawning enemies. You walked through long(sometimes VERY long) empty and boring corridors, and then find a few enemies in rooms... The whole game seems to be like that. No chests, locked doors, secrets or anything to interact with. CHIBI BABY I can't stand the characters Chibi look(AND voices). But I guess it's only because I'm too old for this style now. lol🐥 (ok, I like Maplestory though... XD) So this game seems to target little kids? But I wonder if kids will be patient enough to cope with the insane difficulty though... lol Also, the dialogues(some of them VERY long) or random voices are WAY too numerous, and you have to endure them too often... SugoOOOoooiiiiiii! lol Even the leveling up animation is kinda annoying... GET A CONTROLLER! I can live with it, but apparently there's no way to play with the keyboard or mouse...😦 So make sure to have a controller. It works well for me with Logitech F310.😌👍 WHAT A WASTE It's too bad, cos it could have been quite good, actually. I really like the "Fang system". When enemies die, some of them might drop "fangs", which, once equipped, will give you special abilities and better stats. Also, the game works perfectly, has no bugs at all, and no loading times. And even if I heard only three different tracks, the music has been very good, sounding like the Shining Force games on Megadrive, actually!😍 (The first floors, at least. After that, it changes to a different style.) By the way, I read some critics about the very broken English, but overall it's very well understandable though. It's not as bad as some RPGMaker games. I have NO idea if the developers intend to update this game or not, but I sure hope they will. It seems they're not communicating in the forums at all, unfortunately. It's funny, there are only positive reviews for this game on Steam. And yet, they criticize the difficulty too. "DragonFangZ is not an easy game, you will most likely die a lot and will curse the RNG gods from time to time". Anyway... For now, AVOID AT ALL COSTS ...Unless you like to suffer. BETTER GAMES This game doesn't come close to Tangledeep or Rogue Wizards. http://igg-games.com/tangledeep-free-download.html http://igg-games.com/rogue-wizards-free-download.html Even Dungeonmans, which I find unforgiving at times, is infinitely better balanced. http://igg-games.com/dungeonmans-pc-free-download.html
So far I've found this pretty easy I died once to the 1st and the 2nd boss and now I've gotten myself killed 3 more times before getting to 2nd boss again due to playing around with Golem Souls and other methods of leveling up the monsters way beyond what would be safe. Worst was probably when some NPC told me that fang of a 3rd level of Harpy would work like a resurrection potion so obviously I decided to try to get one around 3rd or 4th floor and after leveling one up I lost track of it after dazing it and later when I had my health and items ready started to look for it I was going through a corridor but didn't think to use arrows to check if it was in there and lo and behold it was coming my way through the corridor and happened to get the first strike and just killed me in 1 hit, and so I lost my level 7 shield that I had managed to send back to warehouse each run before that :( Anyway this seems like a pretty good Mystery Dungeon game, better than Voyage to Farland at least(the only other Mystery Dungeon style game on PC that I know of). Of course not being familiar with what items and monster behaviours there are in typically in Mystery Dungeon style games might make the game somewhat harder.
if you liek roguelikes, check out Haque - it's one of my favorites as it has a neat little meta 4th wall thing going on for it, sorta liek pony island. i loved tangledeep as well. haque is a roguelike's roguelike - even the character's races and classes ( and skills ) and weapons.. all of it is randomized. it's fantastic. DFZ is good, but you need to understand how the brave system works, and offereing fangs to upgrade and stuff. you won't get in the groove for about 3 hours or so, depending on skill and luck.
Thanks, I didn't know about Haque. The graphics are minimalistic but yet they have some charm so I'll try it. Yeah I understood too late that you could "offer" fangs in this game and get some very nice upgrades to your skills. I might try it again later. Still, as soon as I reached a room filled with monster (I forgot how it was called in the game... Maybe monster lair or something), it was impossible to win... This weekend, I'll try Heroes of Hammerwatch. It's more simple(roguelite), but I'm curious because of the permanent upgrades.
yeah DFZ , you need to save magical tomes ( books) to cast AoE screen-clearing moves. it's not the most elegant roguelike, but it's not without it;s charms.
just to let everyone in this thread know : the game indeed makes you grind for hours to get in the swing of things. that wasn't a steam idea - this game existed long before it appeared on steam with cleaned up english ( the item descriptions and some skills are still pretty ENGRISHY though )
who said you can't complain on steam? I just think that complaining about bussines design choices or refund policies for a game you don't own is more than pointless...
who said you can't complain on steam? People. for example, you can't complain cause you are not played enough, or you are played too much or just reason. People like to complain and complain over complain
Well, you are not helping either, this is like a fish biting his own tail. At least if you buy something that is not worth and complain about it, you don't gonna complain because you like to do so.
most people playing this have no idea what an offeering is, or what BRAVE is.
that's liek playing Disgaea and not knowing about item world.
So.... Nobody is going to comment about how this seems like a bad copy of the Pokemon: Mystery dungeon series?

idk if thats the right one, all those games are interchangable,
