Wow! It's not like you're downloading a game for FREE. No, keep complaining about free things.
Maybe fucking buy the game if you're prone to crying like a little bitch and you wouldn't have these problems. Dumb shit.

Singing for Lily :"This is how we doing....lala lala la lalala... This how we doing"...,i miss the 80s and early 90s.I just saw a few days ago Miami Vice (complete,i know crazy).I just heard a song yesterday for the first time bruno mars feat. Cardi B. Finesse, got goosebump. It was like bobby brown meets monie love(I like it). With music it is possible to get this vibe of 80s-90s but games?hmmm i am old.(but fortunate to have this memories). So after your review Ms.Lily winks i will not play this game 😘😞

Oh the Michael Jackson picture is on the top left of his bed. lol
It's the Thriller album's cover, really.
Yeah I always read lots of extremely positive reviews about "To The Moon", but well, I skipped it. 😅
There's another thing which is actually difficult to see in the game... TEXT. And that's much more of a problem. lol
Well, dialogues are okay though. But I noticed a few signs and graffitis(some of them being movie references) I couldn't even read.
lol I see on Steam somebody else who thought that the game was trying to reproduce the group of friends from "IT".
https://steamcommunity.com/app/331690/discussions/0/1699416432433245232/
Funnily, I don't see anybody else who criticizes the art though. I guess I'm the only one. XD
But I do see some people who say that the gameplay is really too simple.
"The puzzles require only elementary-level problem solving"
"The combat is very simple and never becomes more complex than what they teach you at the very start of the game"... Etc.
That was really the deal-breaker for me.
And btw, now I already uninstalled the game. lol
I guess played 5 or 6 hours after all, and that was already more than enough for me.😅
Since it's very simple, I think it's possible that young kids would enjoy it...I don't know.

Aw thank you my friend.🤗👍
Well, I'm still playing it further to see if I couldn't try to make my review more positive. lol
Yeah, I agree about their hairstyles. I didn't mention it but they bugged me a bit...
Gee, you too?
It seems that many people here know about web programming, or even software programming in general!
Well, I'm thinking that someday I should use hostgator or bluehost (minimal package at first), and start working on a reviews website.
Something that would focus on indie games, maybe...
Not sure yet, since I play almost everything, really... lol

First of all, thanks to IGG for never failing to upload all the games we request!
Big hugs! 🤗❤️️
criticizing and complaining begins XD
WHERE IS THE GAMEPLAY?
Well, shoot me, so far I don't find it fun in any way. lol
I played only 4 hours and the very few parts that needed input from me were about killing some fast-moving rats, and moving a few crates around. FASCINATING.
Now, I think it's my fault cos I misunderstood the game genre.
I was kinda expecting an arpg or platformer for some reason, or maybe something like a Metroidvania game without fighting, with lots of puzzles, and a bit of story...
But so far, it's been pretty much a purely narrative experience.
You'll have to make sure you talk to everybody, sometimes it triggers events, enable quests, etc.
So, if you like such games, I bet you could enjoy it. Not my style though.
I don't have anything against adventure games, since I love old-school point-and-click games, and many times, this game feels like a point-and-click game except you can control the character freely, which is cool, really.
Only ONE big problem though: unlike point-and-click games, so far, I didn't face ANY puzzles/mind games whatsoever. (I'll play more and see...)
So, this game has very few action scenes, barely any mind games, no real platforming, and apparently no Metroidvania elements either...
What's left? A somewhat interesting story, that is, if you're into "fake 80s".
A GAME ABOUT THE 80s MADE BY MILLENIALS
The story feels like it's been written by millenials who pretend they know the 80s.
So that makes the 80s look even cheesier than they were.
Welcome to stereotype city!
I think that young people who didn't get to know the 80s will enjoy this.
Old-timers like me will cringe at every line delivered by the main characters... lol
It has been the case of many games recently. And also some "Neoretrowave" music...
It's difficult to give you examples, you'll have to play the game and see for yourself.
Now I realize the game claims to recreate a 80s "movie"(or TV, games...) feeling, not real-life... But still, even movies and TV shows weren't like that at all.
This feels very far from "Parker Lewis" or "Better Off Dead". Or The Goonies.lol
Actually, I have never seen any game which made me think of these old movies or shows. lol
Also, this trend about thinking that the 80s were all about pink neon lights is getting tiring.
I didn't even see neon lights back then. lol
If anything, the 80s were MUCH more old-school than what people think, but strangely, only the flashy pink lights and harsh synth tones have survived the test of time.
I get a much better 80s "feeling" while playing an old RPG like Earthbound. lol
Well, there aren't THAT many stereotypes in the game though.
On a side note, the characters DO NOT look like 80s whatsoever.
Their hair color, clothes, even their way of speaking...
Which doesn't prevent them from being likeable though.
They kinda make me think of that little group of friends in "IT". ha ha
https://48palw1jqfwf1zkjitvyccc1-wpengine.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/it-original1990.jpg
I always loved the first part of that movie when I was a kid, and could totally imagine myself as one of them.🤗
But I didn't feel this way in this game... lol
On the other hand, I do enjoy trying to recognize the countless little references to 80s movies or games I can find.
Unfortunately, the graphics are so minimalistic that I have a hard time doing that most of the time... (like with Michael Jackson's Thriller album in the main character's room)
Mini-game: try to spot Thriller poster in this picture =>
http://www.playstationcountry.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/your-room-993x500.jpg
GREAT COLORS AND ATMOSPHERE, NOT ENOUGH DETAILS
Well, let's talk about the graphics then...
They looked super cool in the trailer.
The Screenshots I saw were very nice as well, but that was because I looked at them from far away, in a tiny window...
But once you play the game on a 23" screen and see the pixels so close to your face, you realize the game has no style at all.
Some areas have beautiful colors and you just feel comfortable wandering around such cozy environments. But why such simplified pixel art?
Games made on the Super Famicom in early 90s were better made than this.
They needed art direction or something... Just look at the trees leaves... The abstract looking buildings... And the idle animation of the characters, which often looks "broken"... Or the weird staircase in the first house...lol (some serious perspective problems there XD)
I LOVE pixel art and usually I'm ready to tolerate everything, but this is simply too...simple. lol
They should have gone for way, way higher detailing.
There's such a thing as "not enough pixels". lol
Just compare to the recent Tower 57, for example =>
http://igg-games.com/tower-57-free-download.html
Or even Iconoclasts, although this is not a top-down view =>
http://igg-games.com/iconoclasts-free-download.html
I guess that in 2017, I've been spoiled by so many great looking pixel art games, that I became way more demanding now. lol
... At some point in the game, you see a nice 50s retro diner. They seemed quite popular in the 80s... Actually, the whole 50s decade made a strong come back back then.
This is how it looks =>

And here's how I wish it looked instead =>
https://www.planete-aventure.net/shot/orion_18.jpg
This is "Orion Burger", a PC adventure game from 1996. And THIS is "style", friends.👍
I grew up playing games like these.
There's literally almost NO games with such graphics ever made anymore... Why?
OH! I forgot to mention the little cartoons sequences though!
I think they're super cool, albeit too short and feel a bit disconnected from the storyline usually.
But they REALLY look like they were made in the 80s...
I'm not sure what techniques they used, but I wouldn't be surprised if I learned that they used hand-drawn traditional animation!
Modern cartoons usually feel a bit "cold", but the lines look more "precise", I guess?
A great example is how One Piece changed between the hand-drawn era and the all-digital era... I feel like One Piece lost a bit of its character after this transition.
Personally, I prefer hand-drawn, but to each his own.😜
GREAT ORCHESTRAL MUSIC AND NEWRETROWAVE
I didn't say anything about the music, but it's quite good, actually.
It makes me think of good old "family" movies from the 80s, like Honey I Shrunk the Kids. lol At least the little orchestral piece at the beginning.
After this, they still made the easy choice of using Neoretrowave genre like everybody else in the indie games business these days.
But still, it sounds very good overall.
Edit: I played more and now I can say that some tracks sound EXTREMELY good, movie-like, and this might be the best aspect of the game. he he nice!😘👍
And I do mean both orchestral and neoretrowave parts.
COMBAT FEELS LIKE A CLICKER GAME
Fighting system feels very simple.
So far, I only kept pushing the button as fast as possible to beat my enemies.
It doesn't feel like a chore, but not like an accomplishment either.
You just do it like a routine after some time and don't even care.
Of course, we can't ask this game to have a deep combat system like Dead Cells, but still...
http://igg-games.com/dead-cells-free-download.html
ONE THING FEELS OLDSCHOOL: THE SAVING SYSTEM
The game hasn't quicksaves, but checkpoints.
I know that people are very divided about this... Some hate it, others love it.
Since this game is a narrative experience though, I think a quicksave would be better cos if you die, you really don't want to have to re-read dozens of dialogues...
It's kinda related, but this game could really use a fast travel system.
Unless there is one and I didn't find it yet? I already played 4 hours now though.
(still playing as I write this)
And it goes with the travel system, we NEED a minimap that we can access at all times. The only maps I found were some signs in the city...
Well, that was today's Lily's unfair and harsh review©, you're welcome.😘❤️️😅
Naaah just kidding, I do need to play more, after all I played only 4 hours.
But so far, it's just not for me.😜

lol well I'm crazy about games, even ones that I don't like. XD
I remember Quentin Tarantino saying once the same thing about movies... He said "even bad movies are great!" ha ha
Well maybe it's the same for me.
There are a LOT of things to say about this game too, it's special.
Too bad I'm disappointed though.
Gee, if I eventually create my reviews website in the future, I should learn to write more concise reviews though, maybe?... ha ha
And also, less criticizing. I always do that...

Gee, if I posted on Steam, I would make so many enemies.
(even on IGG, I make some, because people think I shouldn't criticize when I get things for free. I understand that. :))
But I only review games for fun! he he
(and also practice, for when I'll review more seriously on my website)
Cos, like most "old" people (in my 30s), I'm always a bit too harsh towards games, and this is very unpopular on Steam. lol
So far, reviews seem very positive about this game.
But me, I'm a bit bored... lol
