The game doesn't boot when running the .exe. Based on the unclear response of Eroimaster, i figured you need to run xnafx40_redist.msi located in _CommonRedist\XNA\4.0 The game was able to boot for me after i did this. Hope this will help others
I solved 2 of my problems and I can play the game:
If the game doesn't open, just install the XNA (it's a setup)
If -"Unable to load DLL 'CSteamworks'" appears, just disable your antivirus. After you finish playing, activate your antivirus again. In summary, you have to disable the option called "real time protection" to play.

you probably have an ad blocker on. Putting celeste.exe as "excluded" won't do anything, since your adblocker likely has already quarantined the file steamclient.dll, check your adblockers quarantined section and restore steamclient.dll. Afterwards add it to excluded in the "real time scan"
Is the file to fix redirect to steam plaza.nfo? because thats not working for me Edit: I found the PLAZA folder and put it in but it still just puts me in steam

While the game works great, I am very skeptical about the safety of the program, or rather, of one specific (cracked) dll, most notably because of the red flags it gave to several antivirus vendors. I don't like putting my computer at risk, so if you can, could you send, say, the itch.io version or the Epic Games version of this game, both of which are DRM-free and as such doesn't need cracking. go to the XNA _CommonRedist folder then go to XNA folder and run the XNA installer. after that try running the game again. hope that help solving your problem

Ok, so the problem is that your antivirus deletes "steam_api.dll" because it thinks it's a trojan. It did that to me as well, but it asked me before deleting it so that's how I know. Don't worry, it's not a real trojan, it's not the first game I downloaded that "had trojans". From what I know, cracks use some codes (safe ones) that some viruses use which are in the blacklist of computers. Again, don't worry, it's safe. Just disable your antivirus until you finish extracting and then it's ok. Hope this helped :)

Download Virtual Controller and map it to an extra virtual keyboard or something that the game supports. Once you do that, the game will think you have an active supported controller.
Not a fan. I like precision platformers, but this game hits in all the wrong ways. Spikes along all the walls is a boring and inorganic way to introduce difficulty. Everything looks the same and its so easy to get lost. All in all, the level design is not fun to navigate which is the entire appeal of these games for me. I don't understand the appeal.
Looks like you forgot about the unique level gimmicks, there are stuff other than spikes and walls, like space liquid blocks, controllable platforms, bumpers and many more. Each level introduces new gimmicks, gradually easing you into them and teaching you everything you need to know in a safe environment before they get used in hard and creative ways and get combined together into masterfully created chapters that are aesthetically different from the others, from a hotel to crystal caverns. Maybe its too hard or frustrating, if that is the case you can use assist mode if you want. "its so easy to get lost" means that you probably didn't finish chapter 3
People who reduce all criticisms down to "you must just suck" are tiresome... Even if I did suck at platforms, I'm not the type of person to not like a game because I die a lot. I have not once criticized a game for being too hard. Take what I said at face value.

didnt know that wine was build in on mint, in arch wine is a package like any other, removing it doesnt really do anything special to the system if they want to, but wine still is a compatiblity layer not virtalization tool, the wine project its about recreating the windows enviroment from zero, and making tools so windows programs can run on unix systems natively, windows does this for os2 and posix programs since its beggining

Is the file size less than 5 MB? Did you get the file directly, or have you used an exe? If the answer to any of the questions is yes, you downloaded an ad. Please try downloading the files again and make sure you get the correct ones.
So i put the PLAZA file in the game folder with autorun but it still opens up steam, can anyone help please? Last time i downloaded Celeste it was working just fine.
after you run and install the game using "setup" inside the iso file, you'll need to put some other things into the game file, so you need to find the PLAZA folder, its inside the iso file, you just gotta open "plaza-celeste.farewell.iso" using ultraISO or the program that you use to open iso files, then you'll find a file named PLAZA, you open it and drag all that's inside it into the game folder that you installed. i hope that helped :)

For people having problem with running this game; there are two steps to fix the issue. 1.) Download the Microsoft software called "XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0" (https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=20914) 2.) You would have clicked on a .iso file that loads the installer to install the game. There is another file in there called PLAZA. Copy and paste the files in PLAZA to the game folder itself and click allow to overwrite files with the same name. With these done - the game should be running.

inside the rar files, there should be folder named "Crack" and inside that file, there is a file system. copy that files from "Crack" folder to the folder where you installed the game.

Install XNA Framework, if that doesnt work, try installing a newer version of .NET or reinstalling the version you currently have. If a Steam window pops up you havent cracked the game, just copy the files in PLAZA to the games folder and replace everythign it asks of you. Next time you get a game, look for a small checkbox saying "Copy Contentx of PLAZA" or something similar on the installer, that may help you

if there is an extra folder with seemingly random files in the install folder, then you need to copy those files into where the celeste.exe file is. If it asks you to replace files, say yes to all. The problem looks to be that it's recognizing you don't own the game on steam, so you may not have cracked it properly?

If you're using a ps4 dualshock, DS4windows works greatly. I would try it anyway. The game wasn't made with using a PS4 Controller in mind, which kinda sucks, but if you have an xbox one or 360 controller, those work.

Install Everest on both versions of Celeste, the old with old saves and the new with no saves yet
Run the older Celeste to create folders, then close it
Run the newer Celeste too and create ONE save file, then exit game after saving (on tutorial or not, but you have to start tutorial)
Go in the newer Celeste folder -> Saves -> Select All -> Delete and Confirm
Go in the older Celeste folder and copy all files in the Saves folder
Paste in the Saves folder in the newer Celeste folder
(optional) Delete old Celeste If you installed mods on older Celeste, move them to the newer Celeste folder. If you don't do it, the game can be unable to load your saves, or a GB bug can break the entire game. I don't know If you have any questions, ping me
The game works as it should be. The only thing that is missing is the music. Everything else is working well as I said. I tried re-downloading from other links and it didn't work as well.

Ok so it seems that the 1.2.1.5 version does not come with a _CommonRedist folder so in order to get DotNet and XNA you have to install a previous version's files so you can install XNA and DotNet. Once you download those you should be able to go to the 1.2.1.5 version and run it. Here is a link that I used to download version 1.1.3.0 (I promise I'm not trying to plug any other websites but I couldn't find it on IGG . this is simply the one that worked for me) https:// cracked-games. org/celeste/ In the 1.1.3.0 game files you should find the _CommonRedist folder with both XNA and DotNet. I installed it without a problem, the game starts without a problem, everything works perfectly until I get to the start screen: from there, it seems like the "down" key is permanently held down, but it doesn't come from my controller or keyboard, as the problem persisted after I had unplugged them both. For everyone who cant get the game to work even after trying what other comments have suggested , start cmd as admin and run the command "sfc /scannow" (without quotes) , let it complete the scan and reboot if prompted. Hopefully this fixes the problem. Enjoy and support devs if you can :)

Chuj, what do you mean? There is no 'commonredist' folder, only a 'redist' folder. Even then, what do you want us to do? Move everything that isn't in the folder into the folder?
Guys, open the game file, there should be a file named _CommonRedist . Open that file , and then open both XNA and DotNet folders and install the applications with the .exe inside thoes folders.
Check the Winrar file, if it contains the Commonredist folder try to extract it again, and if does not contain the folder it means the Winrar file was corrupted on download, in this case, try redownloading Celeste.
so after i disabled my antivirus, extracted the game and installed xna i was able to play it but the second i quit the game it wont start back up in the task manager it shows its running but then it closes out after like a minute, someone help me, i currently have 1.5 downloading but if i get the same issue there then whats the solution . someone pls help me figure this out i am baffled, i also did have DotNet installed
The dash is simply going in the closest direction your stick is in, so it's all user error. I did the same thing. It was all my fault I died in those situations. I agree it was very frustrating, but I never felt it was the games' fault.
A "Thank you" would be, to buy the game after playing through the pirated version. Especialy since it's an "awesome game". This game sucks. The controls are wonky and they never go where you want them to, and the devs put in challenge levels because they are lazy designers and can't create a full decent game so they substitute by making impossible levels. Don't waste your time.

Just because you don't like precision platformers, doesn't make it a bad game. Just means it's not a game for you. I personally love precision platformers, and I did not get anything like "wonky" controls. Everything reacted the same way, every time. If I were to be critical about anything regarding that, it's her hitbox, but that's it. The game is tight!
More often than not, i would dash in a direction I did not want to go in. That accounts for like 90% of my deaths. Using the D-Pad was even worse. It's not precision if it doesn't even work.

I played the game myself and had only a few issues with the controls but that's about it other than that the game is perfectly fine and I have no fucking problem with the game although I played the game with a PS4 controller after trying it with an Xbox controller and the PS4 controller is much better and I also tried multiple Xbox controllers and some of them worked worse than others so i'm pretty sure the game has problems with certain controllers.

it;s because of the antivirus and because you need to install the xna file in the folder. turn off your antivirus while unpacking the zip file, then instal xna on your pc. everything worked wonderfully when i did all this. good luck.
I heard insanely good things about this and bought it on the switch. The controls are nowhere near as good as people seem to give them credit for. I have like 300 deaths on the third level and several other people I know seem to think the switch has awful controls. Wish I got this on PC instead! Waste of 20 bucks :(
Shit, sorry to hear that. Played this version with an Xbone controller and had no issues except finding dash directions to sometimes be a bit inconsistent. But that was my fault, not the games'. I did die a hell of a lot too though, but that is kinda the point. :P
Well, Rabi ribi is a metroidvania... this is not even remotely the ssme. to give you an idea, this plays more like : the end is nigh" rather than anythign else the morons in this section are saying,

Watching the task manager when i try to open Celeste.exe the game shows up for a breif second but never displays anything on screen. Then it exits itself. I have tried installing XNA from the _CommonRedist. I am on Windows 10.
that dont work, you need to use inputmapper and the inputmaper HiD gaurdian if you use a DS4 controller. adding it to your steam library doesnt allow it to work with Steam's config for ps4 controllers.
Based on the unclear response of Eroimaster, i figured you need to run xnafx40_redist.msi located in _CommonRedist\XNA\4.0
The game was able to boot for me after i did this.

When I try the open the game, the steam page opens; when I desinstal Steam, a mensage "error: steam not found" appears.
When I unzip the Rar file there is only the plaza file, the Iso and two links here; I downloaded the Rar file two times.

Did you get the file directly, or have you used an exe?
If the answer to any of the questions is yes, you downloaded an ad.
Please try downloading the files again and make sure you get the correct ones.

i have downloaded celeste over a year ago and it was working just fine but i want to play the new dlc and wont run this time for some reason
1.) Download the Microsoft software called "XNA Framework Redistributable 4.0"

2.) You would have clicked on a .iso file that loads the installer to install the game. There is another file in there called PLAZA. Copy and paste the files in PLAZA to the game folder itself and click allow to overwrite files with the same name.
With these done - the game should be running.

If a Steam window pops up you havent cracked the game, just copy the files in PLAZA to the games folder and replace everythign it asks of you.
Next time you get a game, look for a small checkbox saying "Copy Contentx of PLAZA" or something similar on the installer, that may help you

If you installed mods on older Celeste, move them to the newer Celeste folder. If you don't do it, the game can be unable to load your saves, or a GB bug can break the entire game. I don't know

In the 1.1.3.0 game files you should find the _CommonRedist folder with both XNA and DotNet. I hope this helped if you were having issues.
