Okay, so I've allowed steam_api.dll to exist and disabled all of the AV stuff but it still doesn't seen to work. Also tried redownloading and reextracting the files, still nothing. Help me pls
your antimalware deleted steam_api.dll disable your antimalware, or once your computer notifies that it finds a trojan, click on more details, check to make sure it's the .dll file named above, and if it is the .dll file, restore the file, but if it's not, delete it
After trying this game out here, it is worth the price you pay for it on steam... If you have a job and can afford it buy it full price If you don't have a enough money for full price wait till it goes on sale If you are under age and rely on your parents to buy your games, ask them to get you a steam card for your birthday or to buy the game for you....totally worth the money...fking love this game and I currently have over 300hrs on it now lol...LOVE IT
OKAY! SO....I'm using Microsoft Essentials for my AV...the way i got it to work was by doing this (also im on Win 7)
click the little house with the check mark (its usually green, sometimes yellow if u didn't do a virus scan)
Click on settings
Click Exclude File Type (should be the 5th one down)
you should now see a box that says "File Extensions" above it and a grayed out "Add" beside the box
Type out or copy this "steam_api.dll" don't copy the " " just the steam_api.dll
Click Add "extract the Zip to where ever you want and launch the game using the "The Disappearing of Gensokyo" it should play and the screen where it gets stuck on, should load the logos and shit.. let me know if this worked for you, it did for me....if not give me the exact name of your AV and i will try to help you get the game going.
I tried a similar attempt with Avast Free AV, except that I added the exclusion after extracting the RAR. The steam_api.dll is still there the whole time and, in fact, Avast has never attempted to delete or block anything since I downloaded the game first time. But the error still occurs, still the damn wavy blue screen. Any idea?

I'm not install any anti-virus myself but "windows defender" seems silly enough to delete this file so exclude folder to extract file of briefly disable it.
The method used to crack games is similar to the method used to code malware! Anti-virus programs will detect the crack as a virus and delete it, even though it isn’t! :)
Could also be that the file exists but your av/defender blocked it. Whitelist both the steam_api.dll and game exe. OR it could be basic issues like VC++ redists, directx, etc. You need to provide more informations like if there's error message or smth
Yeah, this is the only file that my system deletes, even with disabled Firewall and disabled Windows Defender. Every other game works just fine and these file never got deleted by my system.
firewall doesnt relegate FILE SECURITY lmfao, that's for incoming, outgoling internet connections. do you even PC? iof yourAV program is marking a file as malware, ( when it isn' t) then m,ake an exception for that file, or an exclusion, however it is worded on your OS.
Doesn't seem to work for me. When I start the game, it looks like some sort of a title screen (green-blueish with some fog) but nothing on it. go to windows defneder, or whatever you use for anti virus, and make an exception for that very file, that's what's happening. I never had this issue at all.
There's a few bugs here, mainly level 2 - After you defeat Cirno she sometimes doesn't drop the item you need to collect to advance, just restart the mission. the word destroy is spelled DESTORY and the game isn't optimized too well. I suggest running it on " good" settings. the other two run badly thanks to AO being used on grass blades you'll never be close enough to see in the first place.

Hmm good enough roster. At least udonge and patchy are playable (rare to see patchy playable on most touhou games). Wait there's remilia but no flandre!?? Also sanae and moriya group are missing
My antivirus also detected malware. It was the steam.api file. I made an exception for it in my AV's settings and the game worked fine. Too bad the game itself sucks ¯_(ツ)_/¯
it's not too bad, i mean its obviously a fan made unity project - and needs polish. but considering touhou games don't usually have AAA budgets, this isn't all that bad.
What links you downloaded? BTW, I dont know what happened with your AV, but I think it only stop while extracting (because cracked files), not while downloading...

They released another hotfix, Where the version name doesn't change. You should realize this youreself if you play it. There's a Fog bug that ruins the graphic.
