If you open the game and an error message that's mostly in japanese pops up, run the crack launcher as administrator. I'm not sure if its necessary, but do that for the game itself too. You can go on properties in the compatibility tab and check "run this program as administrator" to do that automatically.
If there's some missing .dll, you can download it directly from https://www.dll-files.com/msvcp120.dll.html (this is for msvcp120.dll, look up where to download the specific dll that causes you trouble). Place the dll inside the game folder, the same folder that has the cracked launcher.
If there's an error message with "0xc00007b", that's when I downloaded the Visual C++ Redistributable x86 and x64 of 2005, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2015. It worked after the 2015 was installed, so it might be that only that was necessary. I think this also fixes the dll issues, but I only tried after having already manually downloaded the dll file I needed.

But that alone didn't fix it. Everytime you run the crack lancher, It switches that value back to 1. Honestly I did a bunch of stuff and don't even know what exatly fixed this, but I belive the real save files are not the ones on the save folder. To me they appeared at C:\Users<User>\Documents\age\alternative_v16_eng\Vmreg.

If you do this, don't run the i.reg file that's in the download. To me, removing only steam_api64.dll made it work.
Also, there is a 70Mb director's cut .exe file out there that you have to place on the game folders and run it, but it didn't seem to work for me. I gave up on it because the sex scenes of Extra and Unlimited were shit.
As a last resort, installing the .NET frameworks 3.5 and 4.5 did nothing for me, But it might help you (it's on the first link of this post).
Hey, anyone still reading this and having issues with the thing not launching or runtime error 406, open up the i.reg from the mentioned savefix in notepad and replace Armando's path to Muv Luv with your own. Replace function in notepad does this nicely. I'm half leaving this here for my own benefit since I'll likely forget and then need to install it for somebody else.

I have the same problem. I saved in a slot, but when I close the game and rebooted it, it just doesn't show any save files. Not even quickload. BUT the game allows auto-skip until the point where I previously left off, which means it recognizes that I've played up to that point.

This is just too confusing to follow. I couldn't find any of the files you were talking about. The Ages folder is empty. The only thing to do is press CTRL, but skipping the intro video is very annoying because it pauses at the brains without skipping.

I tend to after a long year(or less) of gaming and anime. Want to see something with a good story without being too excessive. Muv Luv was one of my first VNs and It's aged very well. Weirdly enough my save vanished when I ran the exe with the Integrated instead of default NVIDIA...weird

Don't let the cheesy title fool you. Muv-luv alternative is definitely one of the best games in the VN market. It's even best played after finishing muv-luv extra (all routes, cause it makes a lot of sense afterwards). Another recommendation would be Rewrite, another great game if you ignore the "grind" (grind because you have to complete all the heroine routes(all their endings are great anyways so it's worth it), a mind-twisting route (moon), to get to the true finale (terra)). Also, Yoshino best character. haha.
check your antivirus' quarantine. cracked dll files are usually deleted or quarantined by antivirus programs. best to whitelist those files after restoring them from quarantine, or just disable your antivirus while playing the game. your call.
Alternative chronicles are stories based on what would happen if Alternative V was launched. So they're not really sequels. Muv-Luv Alternative is the one true ending IMO. In Muv-Luv and Muv-Luv Extra, you can have different routes, while in Alternative, there is only one good ending, and it's the ending that would make everyone happy except for the BETA. As a warning, prepare for heartbreaks and depression, this game gave me a lot of those. But it's definitely worth it once you reach the ending. Definitely worth it.

No, the patch isn't out yet. From what I understand, only one H-scene was removed, and it has no impact on the plot. The other scene apparently just has the genitals cropped out, with all the text still there. The gore is uncensored.

If anyone has problems with saving or the crack, use this registry file. The save issues are caused by the game trying to load from the Steam Cloud without being run through Steam, so I disabled that functionality. Make sure you put the Muv Luv Alternative folder in the lowest level of your C:\ directory, or else it won't work. EDIT: I accidentally uploaded the wrong reg file. I'll upload the right one in a little.
Most visual novels are shit, especially ones originally written in English. This is definitely not one of them. And to be fair, they aren't meant to be games.
Just found the solution. Copy steam_api.cdx, steam_api.dll and steam_emu.ini from my Muv Luv folder, and paste to my Muv Luv Alternative folder(overwrite everything). Edit steam_emu, and I make sure AppId=449840. At this point, when I tried to execute the game, some Japanese text pop up. Re-run _CRACK LAUNCHER.exe. The game should run normally, and can load saves game after closing. The saves folder location on C:\Users*user_name*\AppData\Roaming\Steam\CODEX\449840\remote
Muv Luv 2016 I download from Erogedownload. I think you can try any codex release games folder, just take the 3 files, steam_api, steam_api.dll and steam_emu.
The save issues are caused by the "bUucUseSteamRemoteStorage" line in the registry being set to 1. You can put this registry file in with future updates if you want. EDIT: I'm having issues now, so there's a very good chance that there's something else wrong.
After you download it, just double click on it and accept. It will modify the registry automatically. If it still doesn't work, make sure the Muv Luv Alternative folder is in the root of your C:\ directory.
Reg file still normal, my friend, we can use it many time we want. I think it have some problems in .exe, or maybe ALI emu still not latest. I will try ask Christsnatcher, maybe he can help check in .exe again and latest ALI emu (it have newer or not).

It's still not working for me. I got the .reg file from the crack launcher and it looks like something is formatted wrong in it. The error says that it is not a valid registry script. [EDIT]: Ok I tried it again after taking the .reg file out another time and it works now. If anyone else has problems with the crack, make sure the Muv Luv Alternative folder is in the root of your C:\ directory. I'll upload the .reg file sometime later if the crack doesn't work for you.
I haven't tried it with Alternative yet, but the Steam version of Muv Luv only worked for me if I had it in the C:\ directory and had the correct registry files. Try putting the folder there first, if it still doesn't work wait for the reg files.

Deciga announced that they ended up deciding that they will release a patch. From what I understand, only one of the three famous scenes was censored. "Chomp" is there in all its bloody glory, and "Twizzlers" was apparently cropped to exclude genitals, but no text was removed.
