For some reason when I play the game, the subtitles don't work. After the whole prologue, nothing appears except the gear icon. Did I do anything wrong? The same happens when I press esc or if I look in the backlog
Hi, I have this issue where after certain events, my screen would turn black. However I am still able to access the "quit but lose all unsaved data" screen. I also seem to be able to resolve the screen issue by extracting the files again(?) Game plays fine for a few days and then the same cycle would repeat. I also don't know why sometimes random files in my USRD would be deleted causing the C:Handle problem. Can anyone tell me what is going on, and if there is a sure fix for this. Currently I always have to keep an extra copy of the game just in case, and it's taking unnecessary space that I don't quite have (running a VM) I'm quite sure I downloaded all the files properly. This also seem to only happen to SteinsGate for now. Thanks
Maybe some files are kept in your antivirus vault as a false positive, even windows defender sometimes do that, check in your antivirus and if you find something add an exception to it, for the black screen could be for the same reason, if not, try to find a patch that could fix that problem
I dont know if anyone more had this problem but the game had the error "mgs::File::CHandle::open() failed." What i did to fix it were this: 1.install directx 9 2.change compatibility mode to "windows xp service pack 3" both in launcher and the game 3. rename the created folder after extracting named "STEINS.GATE.Update.23.02.2018" only when i did the third step it worked so maybe is just changing the name, but i leave this for all who have the same problem and don't know how to fix it
I had the same issue too. But for my case, some files in the USRD folder has been deleted for some odd reason. So I just extracted/updated the missing files.
doesnt work, i install the dll and junk but then after it says the application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b). anyone know how to help? also the file itself after i extract it is called "STEINS.GATE.Update.23.02.2018" if that tells you anything or something
I downloaded extracted and ran the launcher but for some reason the text randomly stops loading and the only way to move forward is to use the skip function
Did you download an exe file? When opening the exe, did you get a rar file, or am I missing something? If the above is true, you downloaded an ad, make sure you get the correct file.

how do you fix the "the procedure entry point _BinkWaitStopAsyncThreadsMulti@8 could not be located in the dynamic link library (install location) error? the top says game.exe entry point not found edit: fixed it but I'll leave this here for anyone else with this problem, I fixed it by moving all the files up a few folders from STEINS;GATE to alongside the STEINS.GATE.UPDATE.23.02.2018 folder so just inside the folder I created
It cant locate steam.api.dll even though it is right there in the folder, also when i try to run or extract the game it says data value error - voice.mpk When i click game.exe i get bink2w32 was not found when i click launcher i get a menu and when i go start game i get launch game is failed. I cant play the game, I installed it and everything! the launcher opens up with some options, like resolution, but then when i click start game it just closes! ive also tried directly opening up the game, but the it says "The code execution cannot proceed because MSVCP120.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem." I've also tried making a steam shortcut to the launcher, but it just does the whole opening up the launcher but not the game. im gonna try and add a shortcut to the game itself, then im gonna reinstall, and if those dont work, im gonna take a look through the ini file. Edit 1: The first solution seems like its trying to work, but steam still dosent load it, however, the error does not appear. ill try reinstalling... I downloaded all the files and extracted with no problem.. I entered the using Launcher.exe and played the for around like.. 40-60 minutes and there's no problem that I have encounter. I don't know about this Chinese language bug but I just wanted say that I haven't encountered any problems with the game. (What's with system requirements.. I have like 3 gb ram but I don't have any problem with the fps.)
So I downloaded the old version of this game (before the language update) from another site and I copied the old launcher.exe and replaced the new launcher.exe. The language changed from chinese to english without changing anything in the .ini file.
How do I open the game? I've tried clicking on "Game" and "Launcher" multiple times to no avail. I even tried deleting the files and re-extracting them with no such luck.
I don't know why it fixed it, but adding "launcher" as a shortcut in Steam opens the game. Now I have the same problem as most of the other people here; the game is stuck in Chinese...
So the settings are in Chinese and the game itself in Japanese. Used google translate app. Couldn't find a way to change the language. Default is english in .ini file. Any suggestions?

This game is pretty old so I didn't download it from this post. There used to be another post like 2 years ago but I don't know if it's still up. You could download it from another page if you don't find it here. Also be sure to play the sequel steins gate 0. It was only translated by fans though.
No matter what I type, the language doesn't change (remained as simplified chinese). I couldn't even change it to English even though the line is typed "Language = english" when I opened the ALI213.ini file :(
